Fails my attempts at verification beyond a genealogy website and a newspaper list of contributors to an orphanage mentioning somebody of this name being alive in the 1910s (no online mention of him as a general, or father of many war dead, except in Wikipedia and derivatives) --Andreas Philopater (talk) 13:49, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete I've made a request at WP:RX to see if there's anything of use there. RandomCanadian (talk / contribs) 14:08, 31 May 2020 (UTC) The British official history has quite a too long section on this for me to scour through right now. I looked through the relevant french official history volume but didn't notice this name in the main running text (there were mentions of Gens. Putz, Allenby, Smith-Dorian, et al., but not this one). What I can confirm is that a quick look at Belgian military archives (search for last name ('Nom' in french) = Figeys) does not yield any evidence for this character. A look at civil archives reveals one 'Théophile Figeys',([1]) but he is listed as a coachman and the marriage dates from 1904 so it's unlikely to be this one. Another search this time just for Figeys reveals a lot of candidates but I am quite unsure if any (possibly under a different name) could be this character. This leaves me with two conclusions: either this "Major General" did not do much (somewhat unlikely, but not theoretically impossible) but did exist (if somebody is stubborn on confirming his existence, they can have a go at Belgian archives here and here); or this is a fictional person (or, at least for our purposes, whose existence is unverifiable). In the second case, we all know where this is heading, and in the first case then fails WP:V and WP:GNG... RandomCanadian (talk / contribs) 15:13, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have again gone above and beyond the call of duty; (this: blacklisted = it's a WP mirror, but there are a few pre-made search queries at the bottom - so just for reference: peoplepill.com/people/theophile-figeys/ ) gives a few queries that I ran through the search engines but they again don't yield any results.
