Thank you for help with the cellist! Do you happen to know what he played for his debut in the US? - Today I have two "musicians" on the Main page, one is also the topic of my story, watch and listen, - I like today's especially because you see him at work, hear him talk about his work and the result of his work - rare! - Meneses will come in two days, tomorrow is Sarah Gibson (composer)'s day at The Proms. Which youtube would you suggest for him? So far Beethoven sonata #3 for me. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:06, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- Dear @Gerda Arendt, thank you too! Very sad news about Ahrend's death , and what a tragedy about Gibson. I look forward to tuning in to the radio tomorrow to hear her piece. Meneses played the Elgar at that debut, and the Washington critics raved. And yes, my top suggestion is that whole Paris concert with Pires (I think that's what you're reffering to), where they did the second and third Beethoven sonatas. A very successful collaboration through and through, very elegant and full of purpose. Zingarese talk · contribs (please mention me on reply; thanks!) 20:25, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you, and yes I loved it. Could you mention the Elgar and the reviews? - I can't see the ref, and should take care of a FAC I have open. The Brazilian composers whose music he recorded would also be good to mention and link, because they get too little attention. I found the Beethoven by chance looking at YouTube, - love the piece, made it GA for DYK on his birthday in 2020 ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:38, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- ... and the third, like 22 July but with interview and the music to be played today --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:56, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
- Dear @Gerda Arendt, yes will be happy to do all that in the next couple of days. And yes, it's a wonderful article of the Beethoven A major—nice work! The only thing is that how can you not mention Fournier and Schnabel's incredible recording Zingarese talk · contribs (please mention me on reply; thanks!) 03:58, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you, and please add those recordings! - I'm much more a live music person than listening to recordings. - On 13 August, Bach's cantata was 300 years old, and the image one. The cantata is an extraordinary piece, using the chorale's text and famous melody more than others in the cycle. It's nice to have not only a recent death, but also this "birthday" on the Main page. And a rainbow in my places. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:36, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt, many congratulations on the GA! I'm so happy it worked out at the end. Zingarese talk · contribs (please mention me on reply; thanks!) 14:46, 14 August 2024 (UTC)

Today's story has 3 composers, I couldn't decide for the one on the Main page or the one who didn't make it on his bicentenary, so took both, and the pic has a third. Listen if you have a bit of time. The music, played by the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra in Germany in April 2022, impressed me. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:47, 4 September 2024 (UTC)

- Today is Schoenberg's 150th birthday! On display, portrayed by Egon Schiele, with music from Moses und Aron, and with two DYK hooks, one from 2010 and another from 2014; the latter, about his 40th birthday, appeared on his 140th birthday, which made me happy then and now again. - See places for a stunning sunrise, on the day Bruckner's 200th birthday was celebrated (just a few days late). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:48, 13 September 2024 (UTC)

[edit]@Gerda Arendt: Please provide a reference for the paragraph in the History section of Piano Sonata (Barber) which has a "citation needed" tag. The article is shortly due to appear on the main page in DYK. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:31, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
- The CN tag should have never been placed there. It was a mistake by whoever did it. The Heyman inline cite refers to all the text that precedes it. But let me take care of this. Zingarese talk · contribs (please mention me on reply; thanks!) 11:48, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
DYK for Piano Sonata (Barber)
[edit]On 15 October 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Piano Sonata (Barber), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Samuel Barber said that he could not adequately play his own Piano Sonata? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Piano Sonata (Barber). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Piano Sonata (Barber)), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
