Reverted edit of Alternative for Germany page.
Hello! This revert had no explanation, and as it is a sensitive topic. I would like to settle the contradiction to avoid constant re-editing and reverting of the page. I hope we can come to and agreement,
Daniel Danrayu (talk) 11:47, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
- I'm not Vacant0, but this conversation should probably be held at Talk:Alternative for Germany. I will also mention that I suspect you will find it difficult to convince people that publications such as the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and Die Welt count under "leftist media". AngryHarpytalk 12:13, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Danrayu: If, in your opinion, you have noticed any political bias regarding AfD's article, you can start a discussion on its talk page. Inserting "by leftist media" and so on would be considered WP:POV since your addition is not supported by any sources whatsoever. I'd recommend you reading WP:BRD since you have reinstated your addition four times without previously discussing it with other editors. --Vacant0 (talk) 17:03, 3 September 2021 (UTC)

Changing a page to past tense at time of death
I’ve become obsessed with how fast someone changes all the “is” to “was” on their wiki page when they’ve been announced as dead in the media. How did you get there so fast! Also how were you able to edit before the page became protected? 2603:8080:1001:770E:4C83:4EA7:98BB:2176 (talk) 14:17, 19 October 2021 (UTC)

I want to change the 2b2t logo since the one on Wikipedia doesn't match the original logo due to it being vectorized. Please consider changing the logo to the one I put before or let me put it in the Wikipedia of 2b2t. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Infisrael (talk • contribs) 15:01, 20 October 2021 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Milomir Minić.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Milomir Minić.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 17:03, 23 October 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Nikolaos Michaloliakos.jpg
A tag has been placed on File:Nikolaos Michaloliakos.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file from a commercial source (e.g. Associated Press, Getty Images), where the file itself is not the subject of sourced commentary. If you can explain why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please add the appropriate fair use tag and rationale.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Whpq (talk) 17:05, 23 October 2021 (UTC)

Volt Malta
Hello Vacanto, In reference to the Volt Malta article: It is certainly debatable to what extent Damian Boeselager is relevant or irrelevant to the article. In my opinion he is, as he represents the movement as a whole, therefore also Volt Malta, but I understand that one can see it differently and it is debatable. What I can't understand is the change of the logo by you. This is on all public channels purple ground with white Volt lettering. What makes you think it's a different one?
Greetings --Heideneii (talk) 20:30, 20 November 2021 (UTC)
- Hi. I would consider Damian Boeselager to be relevant if Volt Malta already ran or are planning to run for EU parliament elections because then he can be mentioned as the sole Volt Europa MEP, otherwise, I don't think he is relevant to the article to be included in the introduction since he is from Germany and therefore he mainly represents the German branch and not the Maltese one. Regarding the logo, other pages tend to use transparent versions of the logo (with purple colored text) which can be found on their websites respectively. --Vacant0 (talk) 22:22, 20 November 2021 (UTC)

ArbCom 2021 Elections voter message
SDA party
Hi, the article about the SDA party is extremely biased.
It's basically what OTHERS are saying about the party, and not what the party actually stands for in its program.
The article is full of half-truths, hearsay, and nonobjective perpectives, but since there are links to shady sources that were written by detractors and islamophobes, it's considered "credible".
If I link the party's program and translate the main points, will that be enough to remove the "islamist" label? There's absolutely NOTHING in their program that would justify to label them as so-called "islamists".

Jobbik
Hello,
On the French corresponding article, there is indicated "until 2020: right-wing to far-right" (and on the Spanish, Italian and Portuguese versions, historically : right-wing to far-right). Furthermore, even after 2016, some sources called Jobbik far-right and ultra-nationalist : e.g. 1, 2 (reliable sources from NBC and BBC News). So please don't revert my version (but I will not put back the primary source you removed yesterday for right-wing). --Martopa (talk) 12:49, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, I wasn't aware of that but since it seems like it was until 2020, I moved some of the sources besides that statement and added a few newer ones in order to equalize it with the dates (before and after 2020). Cheers, Vacant0 (talk) 17:55, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
- Also, @Martopa:, while we are at Jobbik, do you think that it would be appropriate to move the pre-2020 sources out of the infobox for ideologies and to add newer ones? Vacant0 (talk) 17:57, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, it is a good idea (on the model of Polish Law and Justice, Golden Dawn in Greece, Fidesz among others). Too many ideologies clutter the infobox. --Martopa (talk) 18:19, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
- I agree, thank you. I'll do it right now. Vacant0 (talk) 19:05, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
- Still on the subject of Jobbik's ideological change, would it be appropriate to remove the
{{Hungarian far right}}
template from the main article? Would it also be logical to remove Jobbik on the template itself here Template:Hungarian far right and instead add Fidesz which has right-wing to far right in its infobox? --Martopa (talk) 17:37, 20 December 2021 (UTC)- I think that it is appropriate to replace Jobbik with Fidesz in that template. I went through the notes, I feel the opening paragraphs are okay, that actually went through a consensus of what to write in the talk page history till we settled on that. So I really don't want to mess with that. Hope it's all okay. Let me know. Cheers. Govvy (talk) 13:42, 6 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Govvy: Everything has been fixed although due to the edit warring that began yesterday, I'm not sure if I should promote the article now or not. I agree that JMF inserted unsourced claims and that status quo should remain. Vacant0 (talk) 18:57, 6 January 2022 (UTC)
- Your decision to promote to GA was an extraordinary one when there is still an explicit and open question to the article's NPOV status. The criteria for GA explitly require that the article be stable and free from obvious bias. It is neither.
- I did not 'add unsourced claims'. If you can find any, please point them out. The dispute is about how they should be expressed so that the article is rather less of a hagiography with an afterthought on modern re-appraisal with the subtext that it is a load of woke nonsense.
- It is extraordinary that an article about a mass murderer be accorded GA status when it barely mentions that fact (and certainly not in those words - which are not mine but of a highly respected Professor of History), or when it describes his philanthropy with no reference to the source of the cash he splashed. I invite you to reconsider. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 11:56, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
- This is supposed to be discussed on Colston's talk page, and not here. If there are any NPOV issues, that can be discussed too. This was supposed to be brought up much earlier, and not when the review had already started. Vacant0 (talk) 12:05, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
- If he was actively involved in slave trade, the date should be stated too then (1680–1692). Vacant0 (talk) 12:08, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
- Here is an example: Edward Colston (2 November 1636 – 11 October 1721) was an English merchant and philanthropist who was actively involved in the Atlantic slave trade between 1680 and 1692. Vacant0 (talk) 12:12, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
- I am confused by John Friedman's statement above, Hitler's article is GA, he was a mass murderer. It's quite clear that Colston traded in slaves, but calling him a mass murderer feels strangely POV, and the fact that loosing slaves, looses money really does in many ways contradict the argument of mass murderer. Govvy (talk) 12:20, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
- Goovy, you misunderstand my point. The Hitler article is GA because it is an honest description. The character and morals of the subject are not reasons to award or deny GA. Vacant0 stated the criteria at the top of their review. For comparison, the Hitler article doesn't delay any mention of the Holocaust to an afterthought section at the end. I haven't read it but I doubt very much that it says that he generously donated wonderful pictures to German art galleries without first saying that they were confiscated from their owners. See WP:NPOV.
- The Colston article as it stands fails npov because it does not give a broad perspective of the man. When an eminent professor calls him a mass-murderer, that is significant and notable enough to be in the lead and have a supporting body section. My point to Vacant0 is that the BRD debate has not been resolved and it is not appropriate to continue the GA evaluation while it continues. Colston is very much in the news right now and it does no credit to the project that we have a hagiography about him rated GA. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 13:55, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
- Vacant0,
This is supposed to be discussed on Colston's talk page
. My reason to raise this at your talk personal talk page was because my question is has nothing to do with article as such, but rather about your understanding of the GA review process. I do not consider it appropriate to raise the question in a more public forum. I was trying to be discreet and diplomatic. This was supposed to be brought up much earlier, and not when the review had already started
. Perhaps you aren't aware of how this person has suddenly become prominent in English current affairs in the last few days? Perhaps that explains why you didn't appreciate how terrible the timing is for a GA evaluation? I had no particular reason to be aware of the article before this week. I made three rather tiny edits (one of which, I accept, needed to be reworded to match the source more closely) but all were reverted. So it went to BRD, as is usual. All unremarkable and routine except that the GA request bubbled to the top at just the wrong time. A cockup, not a conspiracy. If he was actively involved
Yes, that does belong at the article talk page. I won't respond here. (But I agree with your suggested lead sentence, maybe Goovy will just apply it?). --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 14:19, 7 January 2022 (UTC)- That is fine since I've thought at first that the discussion will probably continue over there, although the timing of this review and the dispute wasn't so great. And yeah, I actually wasn't aware that Colston and his statue gained media attention again, last time I heard about him was back in 2020. I hope that Govvy will implemented the suggestion that I've made. If there are more NPOV violations, I'll be more than open to discuss over at Colston's talk page. Vacant0 (talk) 14:32, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
- There has been a lot of interest in the Colston's article and the slave trade articles of late due to recent events. I however felt that Colston was of a good standard when I put it forward for GA status. It's just coincidence of the timing for when Vacant0 selected to run this GA review. John Maynard Friedman You said
When an eminent professor calls him a mass-murderer
, however Prof David Olusoga, is expressing his point of view. (We have WP:POV for a reason.) It's better to stick to the facts and let people decide one way or another who the person was, based on the facts. Govvy (talk) 20:14, 9 January 2022 (UTC)- That is definitely one for the article talk page, not here. [But you misunderstand WP:POV, which is about editors' views, not expert's views.] --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 23:30, 9 January 2022 (UTC)

Hello! I've edited the 2022 Serbian referendum, and someone is forgot to write to the referendum page, the 2022 Serbian referendum is currently held on 16 January, 2022. But it is okay, because you edited the page, that was held on 16 January, 2022, on Serbia. Thanks, for fixing it! By the way, did you see the 2022 Hungarian referendum page, you know, the LGBTQ Referendum in Hungary, 2022. That page it is not avaliable in Serbian language, and Russian language, but it is okay, the Hungarian language is already got is, and the English language got it to. Orphaned non-free image File:Chega logo.png
Thanks for uploading File:Chega logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:30, 5 February 2022 (UTC)
Rollback in the article New People (political party)
Hello. You canceled my edit in the article New People (political party). Why? Why is a photo on Wikimedia Commons with a free license in SVG format unacceptable? On what point WP:ROLLBACKUSE did you use the Rollback? GAndy (talk) 21:12, 5 February 2022 (UTC)
- You have actually replaced it with a raster jpg version, which was uploaded on commons. That version does not meet the requirements and it isn't properly licensed, since the background definitely isn't a simple geometric shape. Also, vectorized logos are rather preferred, instead of rasterized logos. Vacant0 (talk) 21:17, 5 February 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, I messed up, my file was JPG, you returned SVG. Well, so be it. But you used the rollback with a violation. GAndy (talk) 21:35, 5 February 2022 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of 2021 Serbian local elections
The article 2021 Serbian local elections you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:2021 Serbian local elections for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. About my recent edits of the We Must (Serbia) page
Hello. I saw that you reverted my last edit of the article about the coalition We Must (Serbia), where you said that the mentioned article wasn't about NDB (Do not let Belgrade drown), because I added Progressivism as the ideology of the coalition and mentioned that NDB (one of coalition members) is a full member of the Progressive International. I appreciate your feedback, but shouldn't the ideology of the coalition members also be included in the infobox as the ideology of the entire coalition, or at least as the ideology of some factions in the coalition (like in this article about Argentinian Frente de Todos)? Once again, thank you for your feedback. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Liberty1012 (talk • contribs) 03:13, 8 February 2022 (UTC)
- In order to add progressivism as an ideology, we would need a source that describes NDB as progressive, otherwise it cannot be added, even if it as a member of the PI, that would be considered original research. Regarding We Must's page, we would need a source that describes the coalition as progressive. Just because NDB is a part of the coalition, it does not make the whole coalition progressive, although if it is sourced, then we can add it to the infobox. Per WP:INFOBOX, ideological factions or historical sections rather belong outside of the infobox. Cheers, Vacant0 (talk) 17:21, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

Uploads on Wikipedia not Commons
Stop uploading images on Wikipedia. You are completely declase the standard. Facebook is not source for logos. You can't upload non-free images, that then BOT have to reupload and reduce. Thats not how it should be done. Do not overwrite images with different images for same article. --ThecentreCZ (talk) 07:05, 13 March 2022 (UTC)
