MfD nomination of Userspace circular redirects

[edit]

A page in your userspace, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Userspace circular redirects and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Userspace circular redirects during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. -- A Certain White Cat chi? 18:49, 18 October 2016 (UTC)

Hey, are you trying to create a "purge" link? You probably want something like [purge] instead, without a redirect. -- A Certain White Cat chi? 18:47, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@とある白い猫: Yes. But why would you even nominate it for WP:MfD? Instead you should've reminded the user first, since their user page has nothing to do with you, right? 😛 I was going to move it to my sandbox anyways... 😃 Target360YT 😃 (talk · contribs) 22:53, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Because it impacts Special:DoubleRedirects which is a computationally heavy process. I have been dealing with the issue elsewhere such as .css and .js pages of accounts that were moved more than once. Nomination is no big deal. Goldenshimmer removed the double redirect so I removed the nomination there. I honestly did not expect anyone to object to the deletion of double redirect pages. -- A Certain White Cat chi? 19:32, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

I want to take a moment here to draw your attention to WP:SIGIMAGE, a policy related to username signatures that requires that no images be used in a signature. Since you're making use a happy faces I figure you're going to get flak for this sooner or later, I'd rather you be aware of it now so you can address it before it becomes an issue. TomStar81 (Talk) 10:22, 28 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@TomStar81: I understand where your intentions come from... But that isn't an image 😂😂 😃 Target360YT 😃 (talk · contribs) 11:31, 28 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I went on my PC to check the code, and sure enough, it doesn't take up any server load at all. Nevertheless, I'll change my sig. 😃 Target360YT 😃 (talk · contribs) 12:28, 28 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
If its not an image then we're good, you'll just need to post something to that effect somewhere where people can see it (like what [email protected] has on his talk page) so as to avoid someone showing up with a similar notice. Otherwise, have fun with the smiles. In fact, you can have one on me :) TomStar81 (Talk) 13:53, 28 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Move WP:Tanks to a special project

[edit]

In the long term being a special project may be a good solution, by being part of MILHIST we would use their much more advanced template, but also be very autonomous, I dont think we would necessarily lose anything, at such a time as their is abundant interest in it, we could split off to form WP: Tanks again, we would likely gain members faster as well, based upon being in a position people view as much more stable than a new fledgling Wikiproject. IP block exemption

[edit]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Target360YT (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

Requesting an IP address block exemption, because I use a shared IP address from a VPN that is block on Wikipedia. Target360YT (talk · contribs) 02:08, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Unless you have an exceptionally pressing need to edit via that VPN, we cannot grant you IP Block Exempt to edit from it, per policy. The best I can tell you is to get off the VPN and edit from your regular internet. Ks0stm (TCGE) 06:29, 2 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Update: My PC needs to restart to launch the app after I turned it off; I'm doing some work now, so I'll take the screenie later. Target360YT (talk · contribs) 07:44, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks for the image, I see it now, its the ability to edit while logged out that looks to be issue. Unfortunately, this is a little outside what I feel comfortable doing (which is code for "if I try I will surely make this worse"). Just sit tight, someone more competent than I will be along soon to deal with this.

New deal for page patrollers

[edit]

Hi Target360YT,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

WP:Tanks needs a LOT of assistance. Right now I'm kind of running a one-man show, and I'm not even a coordinator. I like the idea of the Tanks WikiProject, which is why I'm doing so much maintenance on it. If I wasn't here, the WikiProject would be dead not even a month after its creation. If we got some more people, including some coordinators (me...), we could run the show a little bit better. Please reply in a timely manner. I'll email you if I don't get a response in a week. March Madness 2017

[edit]

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

2017 Military Historian of the Year and Newcomer of the Year nominations and voting

[edit]

As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. The co-ordinators invite all project members to get involved by nominating any editor they feel merits recognition for their contributions to the project. Nominations for both awards are open between 00:01 on 2 December 2017 and 23:59 on 15 December 2017. After this, a 14-day voting period will follow commencing at 00:01 on 16 December 2017. Greetings,

"Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Contributors intrested in the area of military history are requested to share their feedback and give suggestions at Talk:Discussion to incubate a user group for Wikipedia Military Historians.

Hello. This is just a courtesy note to inform you that I have removed your entry from Wikipedia:Adopt-a-user/Adoptee's Area/Adopters as you have only made half a dozen edits over the last 12 months. Obviously if you wish to return and assist in the future you are free to make your details available again. I'm sure you'd agree it's important not to confuse new editors into thinking more people are available to assist than there actually are. Hoping you're OK with this. April 2018 Milhist Backlog Drive

[edit]

G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • adding or improving listed resources on Milhist's task force pages
  • updating the open tasks template on Milhist's task force pages
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 April and runs until 23:59 UTC on 30 April 2018. Those interested in participating can sign up here.

This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

629th Tank Destroyer Battalion (US)

[edit]

Hello everyone, this is my first time using a talk page, so bare with me.

My great-grandfather served in Co-B of the 629th Tank Destroyer Battalion for the US in WWII. When trying to research more information on my own, I ran into the trouble of finding the bare minimum of information. I've checked everything I could think of for legitimate documents, and I have found a few. Luckily, I had hand written letters from him to back home to reference. I'd like to write a short stub including the marches, awards, and anything else notable that I've collected, but I am unsure on how to do this as I have never written anything like it or anything on wiki.

Hoping to get some help and advice, Hazelmissy — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hazelmissy (talkcontribs) 17:31, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You've been unsubscribed from the Feedback Request Service

[edit]

Hi Target360YT! You're receiving this notification because you were previously subscribed to the Feedback Request Service, but you haven't made any edits to the English Wikipedia in over two years.

In order to declutter the Feedback Request Service list, and to produce a greater chance of active users being randomly selected to receive invitations to contribute, you've been unsubscribed, along with all other users who have made no edits in two years or more.

You do not need to do anything about this - if you are happy to not receive Feedback Request Service messages, thank you very much for your contributions in the past, and this will be the last you hear from the service. If, however, you would like to resubscribe yourself, you can follow the below instructions to do so:

  1. Go to the Feedback Request Service page.
  2. Decide which categories are of interest to you, under the RfC and/or GA headings.
  3. Paste {{Frs user|Target360YT|limit}} underneath the relevant heading(s), where limit is the maximum number of requests you wish to receive for that category per month.
  4. Publish the page.

If you've just come back after a wikibreak and are seeing this message, welcome back! You can follow the above instructions to re-activate your subscription. Likewise, if this is an alternate account, please consider subscribing your main account in much the same way.

Note that if you had a rename and left your old name subscribed to the FRS, you may be receiving this message on your new username's talk page still. If so, make sure your new account name is subscribed to the FRS, using the same procedure mentioned above.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on the Feedback Request Service talk page, or on the Feedback Request Service bot's operator's talk page. Thank you! A tag has been placed on Category:WikiProject Tanks archives indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion".
