Hello, Silverije. This message is being sent to inform you that there currently is a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. GiantSnowman 16:08, 12 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In a 2007 arbitration case, administrators were given the power to impose discretionary sanctions on any user editing Balkans-related articles in a disruptive way. If you engage in further inappropriate behaviour in this area, you may be placed under sanctions including blocks, a revert limitation or an article ban. Thank you. Try contacting User:Joy, User:Marek69, or User:GregorB. I don't really know any of those people very well, but they are all members of the Croatia wikiproject who seem to be highly active users right now. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 20:49, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I had no idea what you were talking about, or how you thought that I could help you communicate to a completely different user. I see now just above that someone explicitly suggested that. Well, what can I say, I live in a city of a million people, even if Admiral Norton also lives here, that simply doesn't imply that I know how to contact him. :) --Joy [shallot] (talk) 22:41, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I noticed you've done a fair amount of castles-related work so you're certainly qualified and might be interested in improving the List of castles in Croatia to featured-list status. You may want to take a look at User_talk:Kebeta#Re:_Congratulations for more details and perhaps also leave a message there... GregorB (talk) 07:36, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Very good! Did you see my discussion with Kebeta (linked above)? Is that plan thus far generally fine with you? GregorB (talk) 17:30, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, these are not more than random ideas anyway - we'll see how it will all work out. Well, great then - I'll notify Kebeta, and further discussion will take place in the article's talk page. GregorB (talk) 17:59, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Chiprovtsi

[edit]

Hi, can you please insert a proper reference to Belaj's work after the paragraph you added to Chiprovtsi#Antiquity and Middle Ages? I saw there was a reference mentioned in the paragraph, but that's not quite how it works, and I was unable to determine what kind of reference it is exactly. Also, please use cite book, cite journal and the like. Thanks! :) TodorBozhinov 12:15, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Toдor Boжinov 13:35, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, nice work and a very good addition to the article, I must say! There's no need to be quick, like we say in Bulgaria, "the hasty bitch gives birth to blind puppies" :) You and me have some work to do on merging House of Pejačević and Pejacsevich, but I can't say when I can devote time to this, unfortunately... List of castles in Europe template

[edit]

Hi. Just to let you know that I removed Template:List of castles in Europe from all the Croatian castle articles. It's a list-listing template intended for use on lists such as List of castles in Croatia, not on inidividual castle articles, and wasn't being used on articles on castles in any other country. Croatian help needed!

[edit]

Hello Silverije, I'm contacting you because we need some Croatian translators to help with the deployment of the new VisualEditor on hr.wikipedia. There are help pages, user guides, and description pages that need translating, as well as the interface itself. The translating work is going on over on MediaWiki: Translation Central. I also need help with a personal message for the Croatian Wikipedians. If you are able to help in any way, either reply here, or head over to TranslationCentral. Thanks for your time, PEarley (WMF) (talk) 23:06, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Wars and battles involving Croatia

[edit]

Hi there! I came across this template, which was created and I suppose - is supervised by you. It's a great work and it looks like a flawless summary of all battles related to Croatia I thought I'll share my observations about the Austro-Hungarian – Bosnia-Herzegovinian War, which is indeed an important part of the table and of history. There are four battles listed, and I saw you added tow of them after creation: Battle of Jajce (1878) Battle of Vitez (1878) Battle of Sarajevo (1878) Battle of Livno (1878) Now my problem with that is that it is really a partial list, which is fine if it focuses on the major battles for now but it isn't quite the case. According to A magyar nemzet hadtörténelme by József Bánlaky There were at leat a dozen battles at the time (mostly in 1878). Battle of Jajce is fine but e.g. Battle of Vitez was just a march through without any armed conflict. There were also battles at Banja Luka, Gračanica, Han Pirkovac, Dolnja Tuzla, Čitluk, Ravnice (before Sarajevo) just no name a few. How about making a revamp of that section? I will gladly start it and if you have any comments along the way just drop me a message. Also if you feel like please give a respond to me on my talk page about the idea in general. Lajbi Holla @ meCP 12:16, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your response. I further searched for the battles of this conflict and found this map showing the military actions of the whole campaign. Crossed swords mark a battleplace. Vitez has none of that, the nearest places are Kakanj, Kolotič, Bjelalovac where battles were fought. So I'll update the template according to that map. I am also considering removing the date 1878 from the red links' article names as I doubt any other battle occured in most of those places and thus no disambiguation is needed. Lajbi Holla @ meCP 18:10, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Also this list seems quite valid. I will sort it out somehow to concentrate on bigger battles. Both sources are based on Austrian accounts, though I doubt that any pro-insurgent source survived. Lajbi Holla @ meCP 18:26, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Cut-and-paste

[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Palmotta a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Palmotić. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. --Zoupan 03:01, 1 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You have already been warned, why are you continuing to cut-and-paste? Next time I'll have to report you.--Zoupan 21:55, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Vlaho Kabužić

[edit]

The article Vlaho Kabužić has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Can't find any information on this person that lived 1698–1750. Creator used a Croatian encyclopaedia entry which only says "Vlaho ... tax collector". The image is unsourced, and is most likely another, more notable Biagio Caboga who was a commander and lived later.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Zoupan 02:26, 6 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I now saw that you altered the commons description of the image. The notable "Vlaho Kabužić/Kaboga" is Biagio Caboga (who is portraited), btw.--Zoupan 02:30, 6 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Could you be so kind and specify where you see vandalism in the Bleiburg repatriations article. Otherwise, your threat to block me could seem to be vandalism. --Silverije (talk) 19:31, 15 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I did not threaten to block you. I can't block you. I am not an admin. However, anytime someone, say, adds and subtracts 67,000 or so characters in two consecutive edits (-67,124/ 67,180), my Spidey sense tingles and I issue a boilerplate warning. Sorry, I haven't been paying much attention to my talk page. Re: Industry of Croatia

[edit]

Because it doesn't have sources (i.e. a section titled Sources, References, or something like that). That put aside, I believe Start class would be OK.

The article lists a lot of numerical data, that's why it would be really good if it used inline refs right from the start. Tagged accordingly now. GregorB (talk) 21:19, 3 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

House of Ilok

[edit]

Hello! Your move was irregular, there was a valid successful move request in May 2017. To avoid the destruction of the page history, I reverted your edit (which was, technically, not a moving a page). --Norden1990 (talk) 22:22, 3 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Silverije, what is your concern? The present title for the article (Újlaki family) was decided by a valid move discussion which you can still see on the talk page at Talk:Újlaki family. That discussion was closed in May 2017. If you disagree with this outcome you would have to start a new move discussion and give arguments that the others would find convincing. Administrators would tend to think that this issue falls under the heading of ethnic disputes. (A family has interests in different areas of Europe and is referred to by different names in different countries). Wikipedia has to pick out one of the many possible names. When deciding this, editors would tend to defer to WP:COMMONNAME whatever that turns out to be. Whatever your personal opinion, this is a matter to be decided by consensus. Some of the items in your move log cause concern. I'm leaving you a notice below of the ARBEE discretionary sanctions, just so you are aware that Wikipedia has concerns about any editing that may appear nationalistic. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 18:06, 5 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Sport in Gospić requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. You have recently edited the article. Whether Gundulic should be identified as Croatian, Serbian or something else is a question that's been heavily discussed. See the majority of all the talk on Talk:Ivan Gundulić. If you want to modify the lead about his nationality, it is best to use the talk page and get consensus. At present he is identified as "the most prominent Baroque poet from the Republic of Ragusa", which is a safe statement and is technically correct. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 14:13, 30 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ivan Gundulić is covered by discretionary sanctions

[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in Eastern Europe or the Balkans. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Reverting edit

[edit]

This is the second time you have reverted my edit of Template:Dubrovnik nobility sidebar without an explanation.

The version of the names of Ragusan noble houses that I used is the official version used both during the Republic as well as by their remaining members today (e.g. Dubrovnik's contemporary scenographer Marin Gozze [3]). The Slavic version was used as a sort of nickname or pseudonym, not officially. For this I gave a source in the edit description, an article discussing this by the noteworthy Croatian historian Nenad Vekarić: http://www.lzmk.hr/images/radovi6/nenad vekaric prijedlog za normiranje dubrovackih imena i prezimena iz povijesnih vrela.pdf

From which I quote: "No, kroatizirane oblike vlasteoskih prezimena treba pravilno razumjeti.

I can understand that you consider the Slavic version closer, I also used it regularly and without a second thought, following the example of others, before I found out that it was merely a sort of nickname, and that the Romance version was always official. We should respect their real last names and not change them based on what appeals to us.

If you simply continue reverting, I will have to report it.

Berto456 (talk) 02:45, 12 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It is not true that I reverted previous edits without an explanation. As anyone can check in the history of the article, I gave an explanation for my edit in the description and I linked to the article by Historian Vekarić.
It is of course true that several Ragusan authors used the Slavic versions of their last names in their literary works. That, however, is not official usage (which is why Vekarić uses the term "pseudonym"). It is also true that the Ragusan nobility in Medieval times used a Slavic version of their last names in several contracts signed with their Slavic neighbors in their particular language and Cyrillic script. This was an adaptation to their customs, it is indeed official but limited to those circumstances. Only the Romance versions of their last names were official in the Republic and in every other circumstance.
But since you do have a point that the Slavic version was used in an official capacity in the circumstances mentioned above, I will agree to a compromise and rewrite the template to include both versions, with preference given to the version which was official in the Republic and was used the most (a few examples with the Slavic version do not trump the rest of the State Archives). This is also more practical and easier to navigate for non speakers, since most of the articles linked to in the template use the Romance version anyway.
P.S. I originally left Vodopić and Zlatarić in their Slavic form because that was the official form they used in all documents (it was actually "Vodopich" and "Slatarich" in Ragusan orthography). BTW, it is a mistake to simply equate the Romance version with Italian because those Romance names which originated in the City before the late 15th century were in the Romance Old Ragusan language spoken by the population of the City until that time.

Trpimirović Royal Family Tree

[edit]

THe edit summary you just made for reverting the Trpimirović tree is completely nonsensical. I did not "eliminate this family tree". I made three changes: 1) I switched templates. The merger discussion said "great care should be taken when implementing the merger" and I took great care in doing it - every change I made was intentional and none involved "merging or deleting any of the involved wrapper templates", as you inexplicably complained about in your edit summary. This is really not negotiable - the familytree template is being eliminated, so deal with it. 2) I intentionally modified the tree to make clear the relationship of Demetrius Zvonimir to Stjepan Svetoslavić, which in the prior version had a dotted line but no indication what that dotted line represented, so I spelled it out as described on the respective pages to improve the chart. If you have a better way of demonstrating what is meant by this part of the chart, we can talk about it, but some clarification is necessary. 3) Finally, to address your question, "Why did you delete boxes?" I removed the boxes because I think the boxes are ugly and unnecessary. You apparently think differently. So be it, but how about we talk about the actual issues you have with the modified version rather than just blanket reverting and thereby restoring the deprecated template? Hello Silverije. I see that you edited on Nikola IV Zrinski's page. I have a question why the page changed from Nikola Šubić Zrinski to Nikola IV Zrinski and he is a Croat. And a Hungarian name Miklós Zrínyi 5 did not change to Nikola VII Zrinski and he is half Croat, half Hungarian. Someone should make a request to change that to Nikola VII Zrinski. That would be right and fair. I don't know how to change the name, so someone who knows should do it. Maybe some of you experienced editors know that, so someone should submit a name change request.93.138.118.21 (talk) 13:29, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Eugen Kvaternik

[edit]

Pozdrav Silverije!

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.Slatersteven (talk) 17:18, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please fix your signature

[edit]

Silverije, your signature has unmatched bold wiki markup which breaks syntax highlighting on every page it appears on, for the entire rest of the page. Your signature as of very recently (example here) is or was coded like this:

<span style="color:#705">Silve</span>'<span style="color:ForestGreen;">rije</span>

Please fix it. If you don't see the issue, please ping me, or ask for help. If you've already fixed it, thanks, Mathglot (talk) 17:31, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is one way to fix it, assuming my mind-reading skills are working properly :
<span style="color:#705">Silve</span>'<span style="color:ForestGreen;">rije</span>
Do you see the difference? I hope this helps!
By the way, this message is in response to your comment at my Talk page, but did you know that you can reply to a comment right here on your Talk page? Just use the Reply template, adding the following token to your message: Mathglot (replacing my userid, with whoever you want to notify). Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 22:36, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Postscript: Redrose64 responded almost simultaneously at my talk page, and their version is better (because shorter). You can see how they did it, here. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 22:42, 9 April 2022 (UTC)]][reply]

Silverije, if you've made a tentative change to your sig, and you're not sure if it's working properly or not, just send me a quick message ("Testing...", or "How about this?" or whatever you want) followed by the four tildes (~~~~) right below this one, and I'll let you know. Remember to use the Reply template with your message, if you're replying to me. Mathglot (talk) 22:56, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

As of this edit of yours, your signature is now valid syntax. Mathglot (talk) 02:09, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for your information. This time I used the shorter signature proposed by Redrose. That means both signatures are OK. I'm glad that you take care of my signature. Thanks a lot, --Silverije 18:19, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Just confirming that your newer signature appearing just above (@18:19) is also valid syntax. Mathglot (talk) 04:54, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, Međimurska trikotaža Čakovec, is not suitable as written to remain published. While it appears to be notable, it needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. There are large sections which are wholly uncited. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. I did this rather than removing the uncited material in the article, which I felt would be more disruptive. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask on my talk page. When you have the required sourcing (and every assertion needs a source), and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Template categorization

[edit]

Hi. This is regarding this revert of yours, my edit was not entirely unexplained. While I admit I didn't leave the greatest edit summary ever,[13] I did provide a link to the relevant section of the guideline - Wikipedia:Categorization#Template categorization where it states:

Templates are not articles, and thus do not belong in content categories. It is however a recommendation to place them in template categories – subcategories of Category:Wikipedia templates – to assist when looking for templates of a certain type. For example, Template:Schubert string quartets is categorized under Category:String quartets by composer navigational boxes, which should be a subcategory of Category:Music navigational boxes (type) but Template:Schubert string quartets should not be categorized under Category:Franz Schubert or Category:String quartets (content).

I'm not on any mission to rid templates of all miscategorizations of this type, but I do occasionally remove content categories from templates when I notice them. When doing so, I simply supply the shortcut link "WP:CAT#T" as an edit summary / explanation. --DB1729talk 23:02, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
