thank you for the cookies :) I will be sure to read those links, I read some information before starting but not nearly enough. Sandcat555 (talk) 20:02, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page List of airlines of Sweden, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

  • A bare URL error. References show this error when one of the URL-containing parameters cannot be paired with an associated title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference. (Fix | Ask for help)

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 21:00, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question about Userboxes

[edit]

Hey Sandcat!

I saw on your user page that you have many userboxes which I think is very fun! I would like to find some that represent me and I was wondering how do you go about finding userboxes? Also, I copied the "user intends to do good" one off of your page. I credited you in the edit history but I can credit you on my main user page as well if you would like. Middle Mac CJM (talk) 05:22, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Middle Mac CJM Wikipedia:Userboxes/Galleries is the best place to start. That page will lead you to userboxes about different topics. There are probably tens of thousands of userboxes- and not all are categorized somewhere. I also got a few from User:Ahunt/Userbox pages.
p.s. I do appreciate the credit, but ultimately it isn't necessary- Wikipedia rules state that nobody holds copyright over the edits they do on this website, and userboxes are included in that. That means you are free to take and use whatever userboxes you like. Sandcat555 (talk) 08:08, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Middle Mac CJM Should note that I am not the creator of that userbox anyway. The creator can usually be found in the template itself.Sandcat555 (talk) 08:11, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

November 2024

[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Feeglgeef. I noticed that you recently removed content from McLaren W1 without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Feeglgeef (talk) 08:49, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You did! Sorry about that! Feeglgeef (talk) 08:51, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Feeglgeef I changed the short description to the same one used by other McLaren models, and removed promotional language that doesn't belong here. Sandcat555 (talk) 08:53, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, you were right. Thanks! Feeglgeef (talk) 09:31, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!

[edit]

Hi there! You seem very interested in welcoming people. You may want to check out Wikipedia:Welcoming committee.

Btw, it's not needed to welcome users that have not edited (that was one of my mistakes too!), because many users make an account and just don't edit. Best regards, Myrealnamm (💬Let's talk · 📜My work) 22:41, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Myrealnamm Hi, I joined the welcoming committee! Personally I am of the opinion that welcoming all new users helps to make them feel more, well, welcome here, and lets them know we don't bite. If it's a problem I can stop, but for now I plan to welcome whatever new users I stumble upon in recent changes and whatnot. Also, the welcoming committee page doesn't seem to say anything about that. Sandcat555 (talk) 03:26, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No problem! It's just that it is widely accepted not to welcome users with no edits (see the grey box at Wikipedia:Welcoming committee, it says "It is widely accepted (but not required!) that users with no edits should not be welcomed to save on server resources and also because most templates start with "Thank you for your Contributions" (or similar)." However, I didn't know that either (see User talk:Monday Hassan, User talk:Real Mordecai 456, etc. ) Myrealnamm (💬Let's talk · 📜My work) 12:27, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sandcat, I just mass-deleted over 175 Talk pages of users you welcomed despite them having no contributions. The vast majority of those Talk pages were created on November 30, several days after you were told to stop doing this. There were many more pages that should have been deleted, but it was tedious, even with mass delete, so I stopped. Consider this a formal warning; if you continue to do this, you risk being blocked.--Bbb23 (talk) 17:28, 30 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Bbb23 Why, though? What exactly is wrong with that? Plus I don't see anywhere that says not to do it, unless I missed something. I wasn't "told" to stop doing it either. Please keep in mind I've been on here for 2 weeks, so don't get angry enough to threaten to block me :( Sandcat555 (talk) 05:20, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    @Bbb23 I'm even more confused because I got a barnstar from Synorem for this. Sandcat555 (talk) 05:23, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sandcat555, you were told in this very discussion not to welcome editors who haven't made any edits. I think you were told this twice. Liz Read! Talk! 07:54, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia emails

[edit]

Hi Sandcat55, I was hoping to send you a quick email re something at WP:UAA but you don't seem to have an email account for your account. No need to set one up if you don't want to, just hoping to explain a recent edit of mine that has relevance to privacy issues. -- Euryalus (talk) 00:27, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Euryalus I've just added one, you should be able to email me now. Sandcat555 (talk) 03:24, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Done, and all the best. -- Euryalus (talk) 04:02, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

POV pushing?

[edit]

In this edit, you reverted a series of edits by ChDemgene with the edit summary "POV pushing". Can you explain further? I don't see that any particular point of view was being "pushed". Rather, the editor was merely expanding sources and adding some explanatory material. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:54, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@WikiDan61 Something in that moment went to me "this isn't right, revert it." Granted it was the middle of the night. I guess a mistake on my part. Sandcat555 (talk) 07:02, 30 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The page had previously been plagued with some bad edits from what looked like a couple of WikiEdu editors, so I can see that this new edit looked like more of the same. I'm glad we could clear it up. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:30, 30 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Me too. Sandcat555 (talk) 05:20, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Trouted

[edit]

Whack!

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.

You have been trouted for: You reverted edits from a brand new user and claimed these edits were POV pushing. There may have been some mistakes in the edits, but I can't see how they were pushing a POV.

But more importantly, I recommend talking with the new user first; explaining what you think is wrong, and helping them improve. Remember, do not bite the newcomers!

p.s: Also try to give reasoning next time when making any edit that might not be obvious to a person seeing it. And especially when reverting. At the minimum you should have explained what made you think the edits were pushing a POV.

I hope this helps! Irina Rainbow (talk) 18:47, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oops. I didn't see WikiDan61 brought this up already. Sorry!
Still, there are some important things WikiDan61 didn't mention, so I hope you still find this trout useful! Irina Rainbow (talk) 18:56, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Irina Rainbow Something didn't look right to me and I reverted it. The edit summary was nonsense and immediately reverting was unnecessary. My mistake. Sandcat555 (talk) 07:10, 30 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

[edit]
The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar
You've provided users with a welcoming and supportive introduction to a site that at some times can be intimidating for newcomers. It is users like you who's small efforts make the learning curve feel less daunting and encourage new users to stay. Thank you! Synorem (talk) 20:44, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Synorem Thank you!!!!! Sandcat555 (talk) 06:04, 30 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi and welcome to Wikipedia. Thanks for your interest in closing Requested Move discussions, however I am concerned that your close here is improper and constituted a WP:SUPERVOTE. Immediately before closing, you cast a !vote to move, then reverted it, before closing as "move". May I ask you to please revert this WP:BADNAC, reinstate your !vote and allow a more experienced closer to close the discussion? ―"Ghost of Dan Gurney" (hihi) 00:23, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@GhostOfDanGurney I am not going to revert it, for a handful of reasons, but if you or somebody else thinks it necessary you can relist it. Sandcat555 (talk) 05:22, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In the future please be aware of WP:SUPERVOTE and WP:RMCI when closing discussions. ―"Ghost of Dan Gurney" (hihi) 07:40, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Warning level

[edit]

There was no basis for your leaving an "only warning" for vandalism at User talk:70.107.174.136. The IP made only the one edit.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:50, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Bbb23 Correct, my bad. A mistake on my part. Sandcat555 (talk) 05:24, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Personal warning

[edit]

Hello, Sandcat555,

You have only been on Wikipedia with this account for two weeks and yet you've racked up over 1,500 edits. That's a lot of activity for a brand new editor. You are also diving into administrative tasks like posting reports on WP:AN, closing discussions (and then refusing to revert!), I think you're in way over your head taking on responsibilities that are beyond your experience level. The only explanation I can see is that you are a returning editor who is evading a block. But in case you are actually new, please dial back your activities and focus on learning about improving articles and basic editing skills. You might have gotten Trouted today but that could easily be a block tomorrow if you continue on this path of inserting yourself if other editor's disputes or spending your time on noticeboards and other administrative areas.

I think you are well-intentioned but for a two week old account, I see a lot of warning messages here and a lot of "I'm sorrys" from you. At the rate you are going, you could easily burn out too quickly and early and I'd like you to be around here longer. Don't make Wikipedia a place where you live. It's just an online project, it's not life. Take care, Liz Read! Talk! 08:03, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this user account has been or may be used abusively. It has been blocked indefinitely from editing to prevent abuse.

Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.

Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.
Drmies (talk) 13:23, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'm not interested in responding to emails from blocked acounts, and I'm not going to tell you how I caught you, but it wasn't that hard. You just need to stop. No need to get all dramatic with "I've got no chance of ever being unbanned now"--just stop, for six month, and ask to be unblocked. When you do, consider what you've been doing here. Picking fights with other editors is not productive. Writing poorly sourced articles, like for that Dutch racing driver, where you leaned on Instagram and apparently some other source failed verification, not productive: someone who's been here for at least two years should know better. I left a whole bunch of your edits because they were productive: let that be encouragement. Drmies (talk) 17:32, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
