Ottakringer Brewery

[edit]

Hello Pseudoserpent -

Thank you for proofreading this article. I'm glad you caught the error.

I've moved the stuff where it's supposed to go. I'm not sure what the bots do or don't do, to tell you the truth. I'm rather new here, myself.

Servus! Scbarry (talk) 01:48, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the reply! You did a nice job translating the article. Cheers! :) Pseudoserpent (talk) 02:23, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

B-Boy

[edit]

Hey you did a great job with the fixing up of the articles. I wish I could help more but I'm not too familiar with how to redirect articles. When I typed "Breakdance" into the search bar, it still hadn't redirected...I'm sure you knew but I thought I'd let you know just in case.

Ehung14 (talk) 03:06, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just saw the change, it's great. And yeah I'd be glad to help you out with that...Wikipedia should definitely be filled with truth. If the media said that Hitler was a generous benefactor and lover of teddy bears does it mean that's what the populace should be tricked into believing? (I know you agree with me but that's just my random analogy on the issue.)

Ehung14 (talk) 03:27, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reply at your talk page. Thanks too, for without your request this wouldn't have happend! :] Pseudoserpent (talk) 03:33, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, if you are in, I'm too. See the talk page of the "breakdance" article. Maybe we should make it a bit clear that we mean merging this into "B-Boying" or "B-Boy" than the other way round... Pseudoserpent (talk) 22:08, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Response to your comment on Breakdance

[edit]

I'm well aware of the controversy over naming, but again, the issue is verifiable fact - not truth. Please review wikipedia policies on this at WP:V. I would not object as strongly to such a change so long as there are reliable and verifiable third-party sources regarding the media misnomer. However, even with that, I still feel that there needs to be consensus for such a widespread change that you are trying to achieve. Remember that we have "media vs. truth" conflicts in many areas of wikipedia, so it would be prudent to gain consensus first before trying to change the term "breakdance" to "b-boying" on every single wikipedia article in which it is mentioned. A good place to start might be the associated WikiProjects, such as Wikipedia:WikiProject_Dance. Additionally, as I noted in my edit summary, please review the merge procedures at WP:MERGE.

Finally, I must note that wikipedia is a community where editors work together. It is not just something where when you opt to change something, even when someone objects and suggests you gain consensus, you just make a small note on a single and arbitrary user talk page, and when you don't hear back in 24 hours you figure it's ok to go ahead and change it again anyway. Since my initial commentary on this matter I have assumed good faith. Please give me the same respect. --SesameballTalk 04:06, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I understand, sorry for changing it. I thought you ignored me (no offence). Can you please explain whta you mean with consenus? BTW, I am associated with Wiki Project Hip-Hop. I see what you mean with WP:Merge. But since the article is nearly the same (except with external links and other changes like the use of the term b-boying and bboy/bgirl) I don't see how it wold cause any harm rederecting. (Please explain what you mean with consenus (don't go to hard on me please, english is my second language). Thank you. :) Pseudoserpent (talk) 04:17, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There is a long explanation at Wikipedia:Consensus. My CliffsNotes version of it would be to make sure that the wikipedia community at large feels that any major (and especially potentially controversial change) is not only widely accepted, but more importantly, widely regarded as a reasonable and proper course of action. Since you're a member of the hip-hop wikiproject, that would also be a good place to try to establish consensus. I still think the most important thing is to establish your claim under the guidelines of WP:V as I mentioned previously. Also, please note I reverted the b-boy page to its original format pending a merger discussion, because otherwise editors will modify each "mirror" independently. --SesameballTalk 04:23, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I did as you said. Could you please do me a favour and check if I did it right? Thanks alot! :) Pseudoserpent (talk) 04:38, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I just wanted to let SesameBall know that I completely understand his concerns and that there definitely are reliable sources on the matter. I am forced to rename "The Freshest Kids" as it offers primary sources (interviews of the dance's originators) on the matter. Now I don't expect potential editors of this article to watch the film but I would highly recommend it. There is something to be learned about bboying and this culture that I live...all I want is for it to be portrayed properly.Ehung14 (talk) 03:40, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Massive Monkees

[edit]

Hey man I don't know if you know anything about Massive Monkees but Im workin on a page for them right now, if you wanna check it out. One Be Lo joined up recently and it is straight ill. The only thing is, theres no infobox for a group like this, only for musical artists and I think it kind of marginalizes B-boys. Anyways have you been to the Ottakringer brewery? I just saw something on your talk page about it. --DerRichter (talk) 08:17, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot for that contribution! :] I didn't know that about Massive Monkees. And with userbox, do you mean the one on your user page, right? You can make those. I see if I can help you with the article (although I don't have much time to edit).. BTW, if you have the time to help me out, could you help me with the merge of B-Boy to Breakdance? I know breakdaancing is the wrong name, as after the merge, I will be requesting of a move to B-Boying.
Now about te brewery...I have never been there, but I'm also Austrian! :]
Please let me know if you will help with the merge! Servus! (I mainly wrote this in english so other users will understand) Pseudoserpent (talk) 18:34, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually I mean like an infobox for a musical artist like one which is now on the Massive Monkees page. But it is not that important. I will totally support the move right away, too. Keep up the good work. Servus! --DerRichter (talk) 08:08, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

Breakdance and b-boy merger

[edit]

Hey, we should finally get around to doing that merge we were talking about doing. It'd be great if you go through the process as it is good practice. One thing that you should do though is put the appropriate merge proposal template on the b-boy page (you need to put a proposal on both pages that are to be merged). Make sure to use the appropriate template as listed on Help:Merging_and_moving_pages. I think it's pretty clear we have consensus on the merge, but give it a few days anyway, and then follow the rest of the steps on that help page. By the way, sorry for taking so long to get back to you on this - been busy with real life things and haven't had much time except to do quick edits and vandalism reverts. --SesameballTalk 13:49, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but I do not have the time to get on WP much at the moment. If you want, I would really appreciate if you start the merge. But at the moment, I just don't have the time so...sorry. Pseudoserpent (talk) 08:14, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just wanted to let you know, and anybody else who cares, that I went ahead and did the merger. I archived the discussion here. The following is a quick summary of what I did:

  • Merged the entire contents of breakdance and most of the contents of b-boy into a new article titled b-boying.
  • Replaced contents of Breakdance with a redirect to b-boying.
  • Edited b-boy article to be much shorter.
  • Added the appropriate msg/tags to the edit summaries and talk pages of all articles involved.

All of the above actions were taken as a result of comments on the b-boy talk page, the now archived discussion, and per WP:MM policy. I thought you would want to be notified since you started this conversation back in March 2008. Hope you're happy. Gbern3 (talk) 21:32, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of automated file description generation

[edit]

Your upload of File:Appendixcancer.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks!
