That out of the way, the reason I came over here was to let you know that the Gamergate page is under a rare 500 edit/30 day restriction. Editors with less then 500 edits cannot edit the page or the talk page. March Madness 2017

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Hyman G. Rickover. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing Wikipedia. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. 2017 Military Historian of the Year and Newcomer of the Year nominations and voting

Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. "Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Contributors intrested in the area of military history are requested to share their feedback and give suggestions at Talk:Discussion to incubate a user group for Wikipedia Military Historians.

April 2018 Milhist Backlog Drive

G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:

  • updating the open tasks template on Milhist's task force pages
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various lists of missing articles.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.

Someone had changed the era-style from BCE/CE to BC/AD without consensus. If you are not certain with an article that has a mixed era-style, you need to view the oldest edit of the article and find which era-style was implemented first. I was referring more to the "Use either the BC–AD or the BCE–CE notation consistently within the same article" part. I wasn't aware that the conventions of which to switch to had been written down; I thought they had developed organically and haven't been formally recorded (i.e. use the article's original, unless a certain, undefined amount of time has passed, in which case go back to whatever people generally would feel the article has moved to, etc). Smiths

You withdrew two Morrissey's collaborations from the article [1] in September 2020 for arbitrary reasons, as you chose to let Chrissie Hynde's name in and some others... This doesn't stand. Do not erase those two important collaborations that Morrissey talked about a lot in his autobiography.Valboo (talk) 23:19, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't "arbitrary": I said right there why I cut it. It's an article on the Smiths. Morrissey has his own page, dealing extensively with his solo work. A section on a related but otherwise separate topic and page should only touch on the biggest points, and even then briefly, because again, there's already a separate page for this and those tracks are already mentioned there. A pair of one-offs of no notable chart success simply aren't worth mentioning in this particular place. What he said about them in his bio is irrelevant, unless you're going to add something to make it relevant, but again, then you'd have to justify why it's on the Smiths page rather than the Morrissey page. It looks arbitrary as you didn't erase his minor collaborations with Suggs and Chrissie Hynde. Anyway, why did you axe those two other collaborations with high profile acts in particular while not triming the long trivia content about Marr and Rouke's post Smiths careers is questionable too. Service awards and barnstars are given for set points thresholds, and the top three finishers will receive further awards. The style "336 BC to 323 BC" is permitted by WP:ERA but in my experience is most unusual on WP and best avoided. On a subject that is all BC/BCE, or AD/CE, there is no need to repeat the era for every date in the article, although a couple at the start may avoid potential confusion.
