Title credits vs. scrolling credits
[edit]In response to your edit on the Abigail (2024) cast section, I was referring to the title credits, not the scrolling credits. Yes, Matthew Goode is in the scrolling credits at the end of the film, but he is not in the title credits at the beginning of the film. He is also not on the poster's billing block. We usually do not include cast members who aren't on the billing block or in the title credits in the cast list, instead mentioning them in the prose underneath the list. Bluerules (talk) 16:11, 8 June 2024 (UTC)
- The cast list should go by the order (and credited roles) of the end credits scroll (this is how I have always seen it on Wikipedia since 2009). I don't see a reason to drop one actor down under the bullet list. I mean I'm not going to fight over it though. It does look tacky. Mike Allen 16:17, 8 June 2024 (UTC)
- I agree the cast list should go by the order of the scrolling / ending credits. But the guidelines advise us against including every cast member if there are too many. Generally, we limit the cast list to those who are on the billing block of the poster and / or in the title credits to prevent the list from becoming too long and add anyone else of note to prose underneath the cast section. Abigail only has nine credited cast members, so there's obviously room for Goode, but I'm not convinced his placement in the list is warranted since he only has a cameo appearance at the end and he's not on the poster billing block or in the title credits. It's usually the norm to put cast members like Goode outside of the cast list; the Creep (2014 film) article, which has GA status, puts Katie Aselton outside of the cast list and that film only has two credited cast members. Bluerules (talk) 19:40, 8 June 2024 (UTC)
- It sounds more like an editorial decision for what works for that page. Not really a general consensus. Katie Aselton makes an uncredited appearance (which according to WP:FILMCAST, uncredited roles should be sourced), Goode's role is credited. Also, WP:FILMCAST states "Alternatively, a list may be accompanied by prose that discusses only a handful of the cast". Mike Allen 21:34, 8 June 2024 (UTC)
- WP:FILMCAST says uncredited roles should be sourced (thanks for reminding me to add one to the Creep article), but it doesn't say uncredited roles shouldn't be in the cast list. You're correct it's an editorial decision and what I've generally seen on featured film articles is only the cast members on the poster or the title credits go into the cast list. Like I said, Goode isn't in either. If we were following the practices on those FAs, Goode would be in the prose. FILMCAST says "only a handful of the cast" should be in the prose to avoid the prose from being too long, just like the cast list shouldn't be too long. Goode would obviously fit in there. Sub genre?
[edit]Hey again, I saw that you removed ‘psychological horror’ on the mother article for it being a ‘sub genre’, now idk why this is a problem since many film articles on Wikipedia use allmovie sub genres all the time, also wouldn’t ‘fantasy drama’ be considered a sub genre too?, many people would see this film more as a horror than a drama, help me to understand why you did this please thanks (also this isn’t meant to sound hateful, im just wondering why you removed my edit) Pomniismywife (talk) 08:14, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
- Do you have third party reliable sources that describe it as a psychological horror [other than database sites]? I’ll go through the film reviews later and see what comes up. Mike Allen 10:46, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
Sock?
[edit]I noticed the recent revert[1] and in good faith and asked the user what exactly they thought I was doing they believed was disruptive.[2]
Belatedly it sank in that the tone was very familiar and I realized User:Soraxyn is the username User:Nyxaros spelled backwards.
User:Nyxaros seems to be be angry that I exist as an anonymous IP user (which is allowed by Wikipedia rules) and might be trying to make some kind of point by creating a WP:SOCK account. Hopefully this was just a once off bad idea that he will not repeat. -- 109.79.71.204 (talk) 15:01, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
- That account is definitely you. Why is MikeAllen relevant to this obvious IP block evasion mess? Sorry about this MikeAllen. ภץאคгöร 16:59, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
- When I get home I’ll explain why I reverted that account and said the “They have no block”. At least the main account they once used was never blocked. I hate editing on mobile here. Mike Allen 19:36, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
- Early last year I ran into the 109.7x Ireland IPs on a talk page. I did not know if I was talking to one or two people, hence my response that I wasn't speaking with jumping IPs. I soon began seeing a lot of their edits pop up on my watchlist. I read that at one point that they had an account, but now wished to edit anonymously. So I did some backtracking and found their original account, which was not blocked (can't remember the exact name off the top of my head, but believe it started with an "H"). I vaguely remember them when I started editing back in 2010-2012. They do generally edit in good faith, usually in regards to the WP:FILM's manual of style, and frequently engage on talk pages. I'm not sure why their latest IP is blocked for "block evasion", because none of those sock accounts match their editing style, at all. Their IP always starts with a 109.7x, and it does change regularly, but not their editing pattern. Mike Allen 21:54, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
- That account is definitely you. Why is MikeAllen relevant to this obvious IP block evasion mess? Sorry about this MikeAllen. ภץאคгöร 16:59, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
- So who is Soraxyn? Blocked for being WP:LTA; they are obviously not 109.7x, and apparently not Nyxaros. But in their single edit summary, Soraxyn uses "disruptive IP hopper", a phrase used recently by Nyxaros and not by 109.7x, who as Mike Allen noted has a very specific editing style. 70.163.220.139 (talk) 07:08, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
- Since the IP in question keeps pinging me from other IPs on their talk page and dragging this out, I will write here about this issue, hopefully for the last time. I don't think it's really accurate to claim that the edits made by two IPs starting with 109.7x, which made similar changes to similar articles (including film & TV) from almost identical locations, are obviously not the same. Are you suggesting that the IP blocked in April saw this IP and created an impersonation of me out of the blue to get them blocked? Not to mention writing things like
"why I edit anonymous is because I want to make it about the encyclopedia, not the person"
while repeatedly claiming that I've personally attacked a lot of editors, which is clearly making it about the person, looks like a dead giveaway to me. A highly suspicious behavior seen in many socks that I personally reported. Multiple admins have blocked these IP addresses, I'm sure they can check and take care of the situation if this goes on longer. ภץאคгöร 18:27, 11 July 2024 (UTC)- I was just pointing out that I don't believe this IP is also the blocked sockmaster (User:GaA24) that apparently also uses a similar IP. Mike Allen 20:47, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Mike, We've noticed that you rolled back 2 edits (inclusion of production company Fourth Culture Films) on the titles Midas Man and It's a Wonderful Knife. We understand the confusion since we don't insist on being named on all publicity. However, those are legitimate credits and those have been added to the sides again. Please leave those there. Feel free though to ask any questions you may have to help you verify it. Many thanks for all the work you are doing on ours and all the other films. Kind regards, SW FourthCulture (talk) 10:50, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- If you are working for the company, then you should not be editing the articles relating to said company. Please read WP:COI. If this continues I will escalate it to the admins. Thank you. Mike Allen 14:20, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- The company was credited as “in association with”. Not production company, which is what goes on the infobox. We do not list executive producers there, so we do not list their companies. Also, keep in mind no one controls Wikipedia pages, especially not PR teams. Mike Allen 14:25, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
Deleted Adam article questioning?
[edit]Hey MikeAllen, why did you delete my Adam Stanheight article that I spent a lot of time into researhing sources and making? Now in your message, you say that Adam's character is not "main" enough to warrant an article, but Eric Matthews and David Tapp have articles. Eric's last appearance was in Saw V, back in 2008, meanwhile Adam is still being referenced to in the newest addition to the series, Saw X, released in 2023 and Tapp only physically appears in one film, being Saw, meanwhile Leigh Whannell reprised his role in Saw III. Reply as soon as you can.
EDIT: After writing this, I realised you restored the article which I thank you for. You can basically ignore my message. Regards. :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Janwmwdxjk (talk • contribs) 19:25, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
Content dispute on It Ends with Us (film)
[edit]Hello there, fellow editor MikeAllen. I'm FloorMadeOuttaFloor. Forgive me if this discussion feels too lengthy at points, all I ask is basic guidance on how to mitigate and resolve an ongoing content dispute on the article It Ends with Us (film).
As can also be seen on Talk:It Ends with Us (film)#Production and distribution, editor PepGuardi has been reverting mine as well as fellow editor Οἶδα's edits related to Columbia Pictures being mentioned in the distributor section of the infobox rather than the producer section. Despite all three editors trying to come to a reasonable conclusion to help find a solution to this problem, PepGuardi seems adamant in their reasoning: the sources they have cited are ambiguous as to whether Sony was in fact a co-producer on this film and despite Οἶδα and I emphatically stating that Deadline Hollywood has confirmed the film to be a negative pickup for Sony, PepGuardi has rejected this explanation solely on grounds that the WGA rejected producer Wayfarer Studios' appeal that the film was an indie in conformity with the former's guidelines. While this reasoning does seem fallacious at multiple points and a possibly misinterpreted synthesis of sources, I doubt my own conclusion due to a lack of actually cited sources.
While we have attempted to mitigate this issue on the best terms possible, efforts have borne little fruit. I will admit candidly I am not the best at such arbitration, nor do I mean for this message to be a plea for mercy: all I hope for is an amicable settlement with no harm done on either sides involved. I have made my case as concise as possible and while there is not really a rush to end the debate, it is for the better to come to a justified conclusion to prevent any further edit warring (which has been relatively little in this case). I shall wait patiently till all is calm. Cheers. FloorMadeOuttaFloor (Converse here) 08:23, 20 July 2024 (UTC)

Sock?
[edit]Hey, I'm not sure what makes you think I'm a sock. I'm just a fan of American Pie, and I just wanted to edit the pages. Why are you just assuming something with no concrete evidence? This is quite literally my first Wikipedia account (besides one I had a few years ago that I don't have the login for anymore unfortunately).

Alien Romulus
[edit]This is a note to let you know I've restored the last stable version of this article after your edits, which didn't use RSes.
There was already a discussion re Navarro on the talk page. Official info from the studio is that Navarro is Bjorn's adoptive sister and not his girlfriend. Alvarez says Bjorn is Kay's baby's father. The whole point is that this is a film about siblings (hence Romulus). These points are all sourced and are all relevant to the context of the film.
Please don't remove edits with RSes to implement your favoured text without RSes. This may be considered vandalism.
Citations in the lede are acceptable when info is possibly contentious or needs clarification (definitely the case here, since so many people have misinterpreted these elements of the film).
I'm more than happy to discuss this further on the talk page if you think this info is wrong. I would note, though, that there's word of God from Fede Álvarez that Bjorn is the father of Kay's baby. The bit that's more disputed is whether Bjorn and Navarro are also siblings or a couple, but Álvarez's comment that "all the main relationships" in the film are siblings relationships makes his intent clear, as does the initial character intro provided to the entertainment press, such as in Radio Times (an RS): https://www.radiotimes.com/movies/scifi/alien-romulus-cast/
It's also at Xenopedia, for what it's worth: https://avp.fandom.com/wiki/Navarro But I will look for more sources for this part, too. Lewisguile (talk) 07:13, 31 August 2024 (UTC)

Longlegs edit rollback?
[edit]Hi! I noticed that you removed the controversy section I added to the Longlegs page in its entirely, citing that the section "sources don't conclude any 'allegations'". Is there a reason why the whole section needed to be removed, instead of improved? There are several other film pages that include mention of audience controversy (The Exorcist, Cannibal Holocaust) that use newspaper opinion pieces as sources for the allegations. If it isn't enough material to justify a separate controversy section, perhaps it could fit under "audience reception". I am newer and still learning, so thank you for your time :) Beckbucket (talk) 18:51, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Beckbucket: Hello! Thanks for reaching out. I removed it based on WP:UNDUE and Manual of Style/Film#Controversies. I didn't think, according to the Autostraddle, CNN, THEM and OUT articles, that it was detailed any actual controversy-just opinions. Like the CNN article states: "Noah Berlatsky is a freelance writer in Chicago. The views expressed here are solely the author's." Not really an expert in this field. With the Autostraddle source, it's just two writers having a conversation together. Not sure if it is even a reliable source for contentious content, to be honest.
- The Reddit AMA didn't really add much. If wanted, we can bring it up at Talk:Longlegs to get more opinions on how this could be treated? Mike Allen 22:58, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
- Gotcha- good point! I do think that the controversy was impactful enough to audience reception of the film that its worth including eventually, but you're right- there's not strong enough sources to justify it for now. I'll bring it up on the talk page to keep it on people's radars for the future. I appreciate your feedback! Beckbucket (talk) 04:32, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. 2804:7F0:90B2:1E95:B537:E3F:9F4:A9CF (talk) 00:54, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
Karen (film)
[edit]Hi! I noticed you rolled back my edits to Karen (film). I expanded all sections (summary, plot, production, release and reception) as a part of a suggested edit. Is there a reason why all my edits were rolled back to a less detailed and incomplete version? I believe I added the correct details in clear, concise and wiki-worthy language. Moreover, I also made sure to adhere to the formats from other similar pages. Just wanted to get some insights on the same. Thanks! AlphaBetaGamma123 (talk) 20:18, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
- @AlphaBetaGamma123: Yes, I reverted a lot of your edits (and still going through them). Since you brought Karen up.
- Why did you bold " African American", "Confederate-era" and "John Lewis Heights" in the plot section?
- In the lead:
and was highly panned by critics for its poor handling of racial issues, weak plot, and exaggerated characters. Produced on a budget of $2.5 million, the film emerged as a box-office bomb.
is not sourced. None of that is even sourced anywhere in the article. <-- this is the main issue, and most of the edits to other articles are very similar.
- As a new editor that is immediately coming in and mass changing film articles, I would recommend you slow down and read MOS:FILM, WP:OR to get a better understanding of the encyclopedic style and guidelines Wikipedia uses. Mike Allen 22:36, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
- I must have missed out on removing the bold for those words, and about the other issues I'll make sure to add references . thanks! AlphaBetaGamma123 (talk) 22:38, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
- Yet you’re still doing it. Ok… Mike Allen 09:50, 26 September 2024 (UTC)

Administrator Elections: Call for Candidates
[edit]Administrator Elections | Call for Candidates
The administrator elections process has officially started! Interested editors are encouraged to self-nominate or arrange to be nominated by reviewing the instructions at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/October 2024/Call for candidates.
Here is the schedule:
- October 8–14 - Candidate sign-up (we are here)
- October 22–24 - Discussion phase
- October 25–31 - SecurePoll voting phase
Please note the following:
- The requirements to run are identical to RFA—a prospective candidate must be extended confirmed.
- Prospective candidates are advised to become familar with the community's expectations of adminstrators, which are much higher than the minimum requirement of having extended confirmed status. This includes reviewing successful and unsuccessful RFAs, reading the essay Wikipedia:Advice for RfA candidates, and possibly requesting an optional poll on their chances of passing.
- The process will have a one week call for candidates phase, a one week pause to set up SecurePoll, a three-day period of public discussion, followed by 7 days of no public discussion and a private vote using SecurePoll.
- The outcomes of this process are identical to making requests for adminship. There is no official difference between an administrator appointed through RFA or administrator elections.
- Administrator elections are also a valid means of regaining adminship for de-sysopped editors.
Ask any questions about the process at the talk page. A separate user talk message will be sent to official candidates with additional information about the process.
To avoid sending too many messages, this will be the last mass message sent about administrator elections. If you are interested in the process, please make sure to watchlist the appropriate pages. A watchlist notice will be added when the discussion phase opens, and again when the voting phase opens.

Your draft article, Draft:The Prima Donna (film)
[edit]Hello, MikeAllen. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or draft page you started, "The Prima Donna".
In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.
Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 18:53, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
Administrator Elections: Discussion phase
[edit]The discussion phase of the October 2024 administrator elections is officially open. As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:
- October 22–24 - Discussion phase
- October 25–31 - SecurePoll voting phase
- November 1–? - Scrutineering phase
During October 22–24, we will be in the discussion phase. The candidate subpages will open to questions and comments from everyone, in the same style as a request for adminship. You may discuss the candidates at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/October 2024/Discussion phase.
On October 25, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close again to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote tallies cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's tally during the election. The suffrage requirements are different from those at RFA.
Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last for an indeterminate amount of time, perhaps a week or two. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support Oppose). As this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").
Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation. Happy electing.

Distant 2024 apology
[edit]Just wanted to say I'm sorry for how I acted on the page for acting on the Distant page about the run time, I've seen you removed the run time, it's a bit odd it's one of those films where you can't even find a reliable time boxofficemojo did update the running time. [edit]I am considering nominating The Super Mario Bros. Movie for Good Article. I have done about 20 edits on references, thus I am not much of a significant contributors to the article, which is why I am consulting you, who has made the second-highest amount of edits to the article out of every editor.
