Adminship?
I've been considering this for about the last week now, and I've been looking over your contributions before that. Would you like a RFA? Get in touch if not. :) Regards, Rudget. 20:54, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- I've got to get to sleep now, but I'll fix the nomination tomorrow. Is that alright? (And as for the experience, you're fine!) Rudget. 21:29, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- I've added the nomination, check over it to see if there any possible problems. :) Good luck. Ah, one last thing, do you want to transclude it or shall I? Best, Rudget. 16:44, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- I think for the answer to Q3, you should include a response to reflect your history. Try figuring how you would deal with it in the future. Rudget. 19:53, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- I'd say so. Looks fine. :) Good luck!!!!!! Rudget. 20:03, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Houston portal
Hello MBK004, would you be interested in selecting some of the future content for the Houston portal? I've been doing this for about a year and could use some help. The portal is a featured portal. Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Houston/Portal development if you're interested. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Postoak (talk) 03:02, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
RE: Krimmel Intermediate
I wouldn't just recreate the article, I would bring it to Deletion Review instead. The general consensus as I understand is that high schools are notable enough for articles, but the lower tier schools are borderline. -MBK004 19:31, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Returning
After much thought and deliberation I have decided to return. Many wikians contacted me by various means and I truly appreciate the support from all of them. Man, did I need that wiki break! I have learned from it and will use the experience to improve. — Rlevse • Talk • 19:42, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
We did it
USS Illinois is featured. Thank you for the help. TomStar81 (Talk) 06:09, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- I guess we did :) Note though that just because the FAC is now closed does not mean that we can ignore those issues brought up in the FAC; they still need to be addressed. With the FAC closed there is no risk that the article will be demoted should we be unable to address those complaints, but they do need to be addressed, the sooner the better. I noticed that you have tagged some uploaded images created by this user as having no source information. I see that he has included the {{GFDL-self}}
template on the image description stating that he is the source and giving proper license release for wiki use. Previously I have told him that this is OK and sufficient. Am I missing something? --NrDg 03:11, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- I tagged those images because they did not have any description of where they came from (i.e. he may have created them, but there was no summary, just licensing (GFDL Self). Even if an image has this tag, I would still think a proper summary stating that the image was created by whomever is appropriate. -MBK004 03:15, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Re: my warning
Please note that I did attempt to discuss the edits on the Maria Sharapova discussion page, but Tennis expert ignored this and simply began reverting my edits (and incidentally, I see nothing wrong with my edits; if you do, then please tell me) without even consulting me, which is what annoyed me the most. 172.143.183.232 (talk) 20:15, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- "blasted through" was used to show how surprising her success was, but nevertheless, I concede that it is perhaps unencyclopaedic, and have changed it to the more neutral "confounded expectations". However, I fail to see fault with my edits to the 2008 section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.143.183.232 (talk) 20:28, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Metis TransPacific Airlines
The "Metis TransPacific Airlines" wiki page is full of errors, why is it that it cannot be clarified and corrected? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.80.226.41 (talk) 01:26, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Metis
Ok let's start with the fact that on the wiki page for metis, it shows a reference to the canadian government approval of its flights with Primaris and yet it is still questioned whether or not Metis actualy exists, no logic......
Next point Metis is a Macau based corporation and not Canadian, and any search of corporte documents in Canada would prove that it is not registered Canadian.....
First flight or launch of Metis is DEPARTURE MACAU not Vancouver, I believe that the mixup comes from the fact that even though the time of the flight is earlier from Vancouver it is indeed 16 hours (Winter time) behind that of Macau, so the flight actualy departs from Macau while it is still very early in the morning in Vancouver.......... sorry if that was bit confusing, but in aviation the time of UTC is used for flight scheduling and not local time........ however loccal time is displayed for the obvious ease of use for the passenger(s).
Zoom Airlines has made no complaint or report to the RCMP of Canada, and until the RCMP can show that there is one then it should be taken down or edited out completely. I have seen and read the emails from Zoom Airlines, and one exsists that states clearly that Zoom never at any point made any complaint to the RCMP of Canada nor any report. It is also proven that they were infact in negotiations with Metis, so that point is also erroneous adn should be edited out.......
Short of placeing all incorporation documents on the site of wiki for every company listed on Wiki then I see no way to show proof of that, also noteworthy is the fact that there is no demand for citiation about incorporation.... because how would you do that?
Also to the erroneous points of NBC Kentucky.... they state that teh Canadian Government has no knwoledge of Metis..... yet there is a document on the Wiki paeg that comes directly from teh Canadian Government.
Just some short notes....... Fix the errors please, or let the errors be corrected............ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.80.226.41 (talk) 02:05, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for participating in my RfA! | ||
Although it failed 43/27/0, I'm happy because the outcome has been very helpful in many meaningful ways. Your support and remarks contributed so much to this. If you followed my RfA you know what happened. Most of the editors who posted opposing opinions have never edited with me. Some articles I edit deal with controversial topics and with respect to a very few of these, editors who didn't know much about me had some worries about confrontational editing and civility. Since I support their high standards I can easily (and will gladly) address this. The support and ecouragement to run again soon has been outstanding, thanks again. Cheers! Re:Rollback
I have been thinking about applying for rollback permission, although I have to be honest and say that I do not do much vandalism patrolling (with the noted exception of watching the USS GHWB article). I will accept the offer to recieve rollback permission provided that the lack of hardcore vandalism revisions are not an issue for the community, otherwise I would be content to wait for another chance to clear rfa and recieve rollback along with the other admin abilities. Image Question
Hello, I have a question about these two images: [5] and [6]. I'm pretty sure they violate the game's copyright, and both include links to illegal servers in their rationale. However, I'm unsure of the procedure for getting them removed. The user who uploaded them has been extremely persistent in re-adding them to the article they're on, regardless of the aforementioned concerns. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give! --Resplendent (talk) 18:06, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Admin favor
Hiya, MBK, can I bug you for a favor? The following fair use images I uploaded are slated to be deleted, and I was wondering if you wouldn't mind deleting them before I get the 9200 bot messages informing me of the orphaned images and there impending deletion. The images are as follows: Image:Edward Elric.PNG Image:Roy Mustang (FMA).JPG Image:Maes Hughes (FMA).JPG Image:Jean Havoc (FMA).JPG Image:Heymans Breda (FMA).JPG Image:Alex Louis Armstrong (FMA).JPG Image:Alex Louis Armstrong flexes (FMA).JPG Image:General Hakuro (FMA).JPG Image:Vato Falman (FMA).JPG Image:Kain Fuery (FMA).JPG Image:Basque Grand (FMA).JPG Image:Yoki (FMA).JPG Image:Maria Ross (FMA).JPG Image:Denny Brosh (FMA).JPG Image:Sheska (FMA).JPG Image:Fank Archer (FMA).JPG Image:Zolf J. - Thanks. These were uploaded back when our fair use policy was more leinent toward multiple fair use images in an article namespace, but like all things on the net our policy evolved and now these image have to go. I would handle this myself if I could, but absent admin rights the best I can do is compile a list and pass it off to others I know who are admins and can delete this stuff. Someday I do hope to be able to do this myself :) TomStar81 (Talk) 03:26, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

I have a favor to ask
Hi MBK004. This is a long story, so I'll try to make it as short as possible. I've got this "friend" who stalks me, reverting edits I make. He reappeared this morning, vandalizing Alaska Marine Highway (among other articles). I repeatedly reverted him, which was misconstrued by another admin who blocked me for 3RR (which was overturned by another admin who had previously protected the AMH article). My rollback privilege was revoked as part of the block. I noticed your name in the category for admins willing to grant rollback, and thought you might reinstate me, given that I wasn't misusing rollback in the first place. Thanks for your consideration. Parsecboy (talk) 17:34, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot. I normally only use rollback with obvious vandalism, and use the undo button with an edit summary with less clear instances, but I think I tend to forget that not everyone else knows about my "friend" and his activities. I will be more careful in the future when dealing with him. Thanks again. Parsecboy (talk) 20:51, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Really??
As far as I knew, and believe now to be true, the policy should be changed if it's not, that Vessels of a military nature should carry the military ensign, or perhaps both flags on separate sections.
Anything less is just kinda dumb, the US Naval Vessels right now, and All British vessels always, have their military ensigns, not the National flag on the top mast. That is military tradition dating back hundreds of years, civilian vessels carry national flags Therubicon (talk) 06:30, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

I borrowed on of your SHIPS ideas and took it to MILHIST, and so far it seems to be a hit with the coordinators. I have to admit, you idea was a good one. TomStar81 (Talk) 06:40, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
re: wwII firing arcs
Sorry I didn't have a chance to get back to you earlier. The coverage of firing arcs in WWII era ships is woefully inadequate. For instance, the USS Atlanta was notorious for having only a 60° firing arc on her broadside, but yet was highly effective as an anti-aircraft platform because of her ability to bring to bear a minimum of 6 barrels of highly accurate, rapid firing 5" guns at any angle. The Atlanta was potentially able to bring upwards of 12 barrels on target in a broadside ship to ship engagement, but against aircraft, while she was unable to bring quite as many barrels to bear, she was able to do so over a much wider area of coverage, and thus was much more useful to the fleet. Things like firing arcs, range, and extent of armament are surprisingly lacking in many of the WWII era ship articles, so I was hoping you would help me to continue improving them. I've started with the Atlanta, and I intend to move on to the USS Fletcher, and the USS Northhampton. ⇒SWATJester Son of the Defender 16:58, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

I don't think I've ever seen a thank you note for someone who did not win a coordinator position. And the message was very upbeat. Thank you for thinking of me. Leobold1 (talk) 05:19, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
I don't think so...
My personal analysis was left in the edit summary page as it should be when explaining my change to the page and my thoughts on previous edits. The only change in the article was me stating that the cgi was undeniably cheap, as in "you can't miss it" which is not opinion but fact. Also, in not having offense with - "A point of note is that the CGI has dated very well and plays comparably to significantly more modern fare with vastly higher budget." - are you not being a little hypocritcal what with the whole "personal opinion" idea you have? 66.253.190.219 (talk) 04:40, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- Why should I find a citation for my edit when there is not a citation for the statement you seem so keen to keep in the article... 66.253.190.219 (talk) 04:59, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Who owns the pages anyway?
Just curious, I thought the web pages were public domain, therefore there wasn't a need for a 'consensus' to make changes. The changes I've made are small (merely adding hull numbers to the templates), so what exactly needs to be 'discussed' about them.
I'm not trying to be rude (and I hope I'm not coming across that way), I just thought these were public pages.
Hope to hear back from you soon!

New! BCAD drive from Milhist
Can I invite you to particpate in our new assessment drive? It's strictly for experienced wiki-gnomes and has a degree of friendly competition built-in. It involves re-evaluating around 3500 Milhist B-Class articles to ensure they match our new criteria. As ever, we're offering a range of awards as our way of expressing our thanks. The drive doesn't start until 18:00 (UTC) on March 10 but you can sign up in advance here. It would be great if you can spare the time, --ROGER DAVIES talk 05:33, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

My request for bureaucratship
Dear MBK004, thank you for taking part in my RfB. As you may know, it was not passed by bureaucrats.
I would, however, like to thank you for taking the time to voice your support, despite concerns cited by the opposition. Although RfA/B isn't really about a person, but more about the community, I was deeply touched and honoured by the outpouring of support and interest in the discussion. I can only hope that you don't feel your opinion was not considered enough - bureaucrats have to give everyone's thoughts weight.
I also hope that the results of this RfB lead to some change in the way we approach RfBs, and some thought about whether long-entrenched standards are a good thing in our growing and increasingly heterogenous community.
I was a little miserable after the results came out, so I'm going to spread the love via dancing hippos. As you do. :)
I remain eager to serve you as an administrator and as an editor. If at any point you see something problematic in my actions, please do not hesitate to call me out. ~ Riana ⁂ 13:26, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

RE: BCAD
Right now, my goal is to get my edit # back up. I had this big long period from July to February where I was almost completely inactive (partially because of school, partially because of lack of interest). I'm seriously behind. I'm past the time I need to be a "yeoman editor". however, I only have half of the edits necessary to do so. I'm in this because A: I love assessment drives B: My edit count needs to go up, and I think that this is a good method of doing so. Cheers! Cam (complaints/Discussion) 03:42, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- True. I'm not attempting a purely "edit count obsession". I'm just of the mindset of "heck, I haven't been active for nearly 6 months. An assessment drive is a great way to get back into things". I've been contributing continuously to my best articles, the Battle of Verrieres Ridge being the main one, throughout the last half of February.
Thanks for sending me the link to that little essay. Cam (Chat) 03:50, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks
...for the kind words. I hate to leave, even for such a limited amount of time, becuase this is one of the few joys I have left in left, and is in itself a stress reliever. I can feel the weight of the acedemic year bearing down on me: my halucinations have returned with a vengance and my stomach no longer tolerates much more than noodle cups; at this rate I fear I may end up chugging pepto-bismal again just to make it through the days ahead with some semblence of health left. Despite all the effort I put into studying for my midterms both came back with grades rated as "D", and I fear that if I do not sacrafice time here to see to the problem soon my fate and Arizona’s fate are going to be as one. For my own peace of mind I decide to alot myself one more weekend here for peace before dismissing myself to focus on school; in this way, I hope that I can strengthen my resolve to pass. I left your name in the sandbox mention as a designated point of contact for the ship articles I work on, I hope thats OK. Above all, thank you for the understanding: I was expecting to be chewed out to some extent for bowing out to tend to matters related to my education, however you and Roger have been vary understanding on the matter. That means a lot to me. TomStar81 (Talk) 07:28, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
- The depressing part (for me) is that I used to be an all A honor role student, and refused to accept grades like C's and D's, but somewhere around the seventh grade I just lost that lovin feelin toward school. Now its all I can do just to pay attention sometimes. Everytime I stare in the mirror part of me always asks "what the hell happened to you?" and the other part always asked "why do still insist on trying?". I have to find answeres to these questions. BTW: Don;t sacrafice your school year for my sake, if you need to bow out then please do so before things get worse. No time like the present to pounce on a potential problem :) TomStar81 (Talk) 07:51, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your review of the article. I think I've added the appropriate references that will allow it to pass as a GA, now. Also, I noticed in the review you wrote it was "reasonably well written". Do you have any suggestions on how to make it "well written"? I'd like to take this all the way to FA status, so any further help you have would be appreciated. Thanks -- Matthew | talk | Contribs 23:14, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

About Rick Perry
Actually I did say something about it. I said two things about it. AND I said I would remove the section in one week if no one disagreed and it has been over a month. That whole section is extremely POV. We don't need all that stuff at the end about how people responded to what he said. The first part can stand on its own. That way we allow the reader to make the judgment call as to whether they agree or disagree with Perry's stance. -Brad Kgj08 (talk) 23:19, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Error on WT:MILHIST
When I took a look at your statistics, I noticed when checking the hard-link to the statistics, instead of World War I for 37th place overall, the article that is truly in that position is World War II. You may need to correct the table for accuracy. -MBK004 22:58, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
- Also, WWI is 67th, with WWII 37, so there is an additional article that needs to be added to the table. -MBK004 01:37, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Sorry. I just installed Friendly and I'm trying to figure out how to get it to work. I did not mean to put that template on the Friendly page. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:35, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- Today is Day#1 for me using FoxFire. I'm trying to get the hang of it (and the different feel of the skin) because I wanted to install Friendly for Welcoming Newcomers. Friendly isn't compatible with IE, which is what I'm used to using. I thought I installed Friendly, but didn't see any links at first. I was on the Friendly page, reading what to do, and finally saw new links in my preferences section. I thought they were for Friendly; but obviously, they weren't. Again, I apologize for being a newby with both FoxFire and the "possible deletion" template... which isn't what I was thought I had installed, . and, as you saw, I undid my edit as soon as I saw what I did. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:46, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- Btw, in the time it took me to type the above, I have new links in my Views section, and one is welcome. I don't know why it lagged behind the others. In any case, I'll be careful. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:52, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Actually, I haven't really thought of this at all, except that I got an obscene email from a few people who were already banned so it didn't make any difference. As to whether people are going to know if an email is real or not, I dónt know. I can remember a few arbcom cases where people tried citing private emails from sting operations or double dealing and stuff and nobody wanted to guess as to whether the emails were real anyway. Once a sockpuppeteer mucked up and emailed my from both accounts with the same email, so I blocked them without a checkuser. Nobody complained, but that was likely because nobody liked that gụy I suppose the thing to do is to just bring it to ANI for each case. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 06:18, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
Re: Help requested
If it's anything serious, the best course of action is probably to forward it to the Committee; juvenile spamming and such, on the other hand, can generally be dealt with by blocking email, and doing so shouldn't really be controversial. Kirill 15:36, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Well, the ultimate destination will be FAC, but at the moment I am seeking more input on how to improve the article via peer review. So far five things have been identified that need addressed, among them the fact that I lack non breaking spaces for numerical measurements. Rest assured though, GAN is my next stop when the peer review closes :) TomStar81 (Talk) 06:01, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

infobox conversion
Hey MBK,
I wanted to give you a quick heads up on something. Since it's safe to assume that any article that has {{Infobox Ship}} needs an infobox upgrade, I'm taking the {{newinfobox}} templates off of the talk pages of those articles. Along with avoiding the kind of confusion you mentioned earlier, this will help us get a better count of how many conversions -- aside from the {{Infobox Ship}} remain to be done.
There's light at the end of the tunnel with respect to {{Infobox Ship}}. I've converted 3282 of 'em in about the last three days. About -14 remain to be done.
Cheers, HausTalk 14:54, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
