I have left notes about improvements you suggested at Talk:Graeme Smith

Thanks for the review by the way. 02blythed (talk) 13:03, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for passing the article. Unfortunately I am unable to review any articles due to things happening in real life. I am unsure how long it will last for but when real life is sorted I will definately try and review articles for GA. 02blythed (talk) 13:01, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request to move article Minardi Piquet Sports incomplete

[edit]

You recently filed a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves to move the page Minardi Piquet Sports to a different title - however your proposal is either incomplete or has been contested as being controversial. As a result, it has been moved to the incomplete and contested proposals section. Requests that remain incomplete after five days will be removed.

Please make sure you have completed all three of the following:

  1. Added {{move|NewName}} at the top of the talk page of the page you want moved, replacing "NewName" with the new name for the article. This creates the required template for you there.
  2. Added {{subst:RMtalk|NewName|reason for move}} to the bottom of the talk page of the page you want to be moved, to automatically create a discussion section there.
  3. Added {{subst:RMlink|PageName|NewName|reason for move}} to the top of today's section here.

If you need any further guidance, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Requested moves or contact me on my talk page. - JPG-GR (talk) 20:50, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Barry SoccerAM.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Barry SoccerAM.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 21:39, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks for the positive GA review! I made a few of the changes you suggested. I'd like to go for FA status almost right away, and I feel the article is already pretty much there. But I was hoping that you might be able to offer any constructive criticism for the article before I do so? Randomran (talk) 16:54, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Motto of the day

[edit]

Hello, I notice you're using one of the {{motd}} templates, run by Wikipedia:Motto of the day. You may have noticed that some of the mottos recently have been followed by a date from 2006, or on occasion simply "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". The reason for this is that Motto of the day is in some very serious need of help. Participation in the project, which has never been especially high, has dropped considerably over this past summer, to the point we have had several days where no motto was scheduled to appear at all. Over the past several weeks, I've been the only editor scheduling mottos at all, but there aren't enough comments on some of these mottos to justify their use. If we do not get some help - and soon - your daily mottos will stop. In order for us to continue updating these templates for you, we need your help.

When you get a chance between your normal editing, could you stop by our nominations page and leave a few comments on some of the mottos there, especially those that do not have any comments yet? This works very simply; you read a motto, decide whether or not you like it, and post your opinion just below the motto. That's it - no experience required, just an idea of what you personally like and what you feel reflects Wikipedia and its community. If you do have past experience with the project, then please close some of the older nominations once they've got a decent consensus going. There are directions on the nominations page on how to do this.

If you have any questions, please let me know, or post on the project's talk page. I'm looking forward to reading your comments on the suggested mottos, and any additional suggestions you'd like to make. Until then, happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 01:41, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Genesis Wikiproject

[edit]

Hello! I am just wondering on if you would be interested in joining a Genesis Wikiproject, if I were to make one. I am currently thinking about starting one, as I think it would be nice to get all Genesis fans to work together and collaborate. If you would be interested in the idea of having such a project, please respond to me on my talkpage. Thank you, and have a nice day! CarpetCrawler (talk) 05:17, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stuff

[edit]

It's not really a big issue, go with whatever's already been used. If the article's not got any US terminology yet, choose whatever seems most appropriate.

I will try and remember about Peterson, but I might need prompting, which I don't mind! ;-) 4u1e (talk) 18:23, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll do a peer review on the article talk page: I'm not yet sure how long it will end up! 4u1e (talk) 17:55, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Damon Hill FAR

[edit]

Damon Hill has been nominated for a featured article review. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. Please leave your comments and help us to return the article to featured quality. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, articles are moved onto the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article from featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Reviewers' concerns are here. Giants2008 (17-14) 02:24, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Picture

[edit]

Yeah, keep ISO at 64, and try f/6.8. The chromatic aberration I referred to is the blue and purple haloes extending up or down from a lot of the bright parts of the picture. Look at the "VX" or the "1" on the car for extreme examples. They can be fixed in post-processing, but it's hard and usually not wholly effective. Stopping down the aperture should help. I really like the Stephen Jelley photo; if it still looks good with a slight crop, it might have a chance at FPC. I'd love to see the full-res photo here.

File source problem with File:Ashton_Crewe1.jpg

[edit]
File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Ashton_Crewe1.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:24, 22 January 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 19:24, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Formula Palmer Audi logo.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Formula Palmer Audi logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:05, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Off the top of my head, I know User:ARBAY edits the Sandbach page, so if you edit that article you'll probably see him around. You seem to be an experienced editor, and while settlements may not be your main area of interest, it may be worth skim reading WP:UKCITIES – it's the guideline WP:CHES (and all other UK wikiprojects) use when writing about settlements, and often has some good ideas on how to expand articles. Hope to see you around, and happy editing. Nev1 (talk) 22:18, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

GA Sweeps invitation

[edit]

Hello, I hope you are doing well. I am sending you this message since you are listed as a GA reviewer. I would like to invite you to consider helping with the GA sweeps process. Sweeps helps to ensure that the oldest GAs still meet the criteria, and improve the quality of GAs overall. Unfortunately, last month only two articles were reviewed. This is definitely a low point after our peak at the beginning of the process when 163 articles were reviewed in September 2007. After nearly two years, the running total has just passed the 50% mark. In order to expediate the reviewing, several changes have been made to the process. A new worklist has been created, detailing which articles are left to review. All exempt and previously reviewed articles have already been removed from the list. Instead of reviewing by topic, you can consider picking and choosing whichever articles interest you.

We are always looking for new members to assist with the remaining articles, so if you are interested or know of anybody that can assist, please visit the GA sweeps page. In addition, for every member that reviews 100 articles or has a significant impact on the process, s/he will get an award when they reach that threshold. If only 14 editors achieve this feat starting now, we would be done with Sweeps! Of course, having more people reviewing less articles would be better for all involved, so please consider asking others to help out. Feel free to stop by and only review a few articles, something's better than nothing! Take a look at the list, and see what articles interest you. Let's work to complete Sweeps so that efforts can be fully focused on the backlog at GAN. If you have any questions about the process, reviewing, or need help with a particular article, please contact me or OhanaUnited and we'll be happy to help. --Happy editing! Racing pictures

[edit]

I really like this new series; the pictures are much improved. The only things that might. stand between these and featured status, IMO, are technical details: color balance, chromatic aberration, noise, and detail. I've tried a quick fix for the first two problems on my favorite of the series here. Other than that, I think you may get some better feedback by trying out FPC and seeing what voters expect. Overall, though, very nice handling of panning. If you do try for FP, good luck! Thegreenj 21:34, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm using Photoshop 5.5. I'm not familiar with editing programs outside of Photoshop, but I can give some pointers for CA correction if you'd like. I copy the image as another layer to use as a mask, then, on the bottom layer, make localized use of the "replace color" tool to desaturate and, if needed, darken purple/green fringes. After, I erase the affected areas from the top layer. Can't wait (hopefully) to see photos from the Renault World Series. Thegreenj 01:59, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Daniel Campos-Hull has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unreferenced BLP, August 2009

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. –– Jezhotwells (talk) 14:33, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! This is a note to let the main editors of the article List of fatal Formula One accidents know that it will be appearing as the main page featured list on January 7, 2013. You can view the TFL blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured list/January 7, 2013. If you think it is necessary to change the main date, you can request it with the featured list directors The Rambling Man (talk · contribs), Dabomb87 (talk · contribs) or Giants2008 (talk · contribs), or at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured list. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions of the suggested formatting. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :D Thanks! Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 02:23, 22 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New Wales Coast Path WikiProject

[edit]

I see you're a member of WikiProject Wales and have contributed to Welsh articles. There's a new project, Llwybrau Byw!|Living Paths! under development which you might be able to contribute to. Lonely Planet rated the coast of Wales "the best region on Earth" in 2012, yet there is a very low number of articles on the history and culture of places along the Coastal Path and the many and various activities and attractions. This promises to be an exciting project as it gathers momentum with many Users joining in. Let's make this WikiProject, like the path itself, the best on earth! Motto of the Day Help Request April 2014

[edit]

Motto of the Day (WP:MOTD) is in a state of emergency and really needs your help! There are not enough editors who are reviewing or nominating mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review, and this probably means that you will notice a red link or “This space for rent” as our mottos for the next weeks and months.

Please take a moment to review the nominations and nominate your own new mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review and Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/'Specials. Any help would be appreciated! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 09:13, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This message has been sent by pjoef on behalf of Motto of the Day to all editors of the English Wikipedia who are showing MOTD's templates on their pages, and to all the participants to MOTD: (page, template, and category).

Main Page appearance: Tom Pryce

[edit]

This is a note to let the main editors of Tom Pryce know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on June 11, 2014. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. If you prefer that the article appear as TFA on a different date, or not at present, please ask Bencherlite (talk · contribs). You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/June 11, 2014. If it needs tweaking, or if it needs rewording to match improvements to the article between now and its main page appearance, please edit it, following the instructions at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/instructions. The blurb as it stands now is below:

Tom Pryce racing in 1975

Tom Pryce (1949–1977) was a British racing driver from Wales. He won the Brands Hatch Race of Champions, a non-championship Formula One race, in 1975, and is the only Welsh driver to have won a Formula One race or lead a Formula One World Championship Grand Prix: two laps of the 1975 British Grand Prix. Pryce started his career in Formula One with the small Token team, making his only start for them at the 1974 Belgian Grand Prix. Shortly after an impressive performance at the Formula Three support race for the 1974 Monaco Grand Prix, Pryce joined the Shadow team and scored his first points in Germany in only his fourth race. Pryce (pictured during the 1975 United States Grand Prix) later claimed two podium finishes: the first in Austria in 1975 and the second in Brazil a year later. Pryce was considered by his team as a great wet weather driver, and was the fastest driver in the wet conditions of practice session for the 1977 South African Grand Prix, his final race. During the race, he collided at high speed with a safety marshal, Frederik Jansen Van Vuuren, and both men were killed. A memorial to Pryce was unveiled in 2009 in his home town of Ruthin. (Full article...)

You (and your talk-page stalkers) may also be interested to hear that there have been some changes at the TFA requests page recently. Nominators no longer need to calculate how many "points" an article has, the instructions have been simplified, and there's a new nomination system using templates based on those used for DYK suggestions. Please consider nominating another article, or commenting on an existing nomination, and leaving some feedback on your experience. Thank you. UcuchaBot (talk) 23:02, 20 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Steve Davis (footballer, born 1965), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Brad Inman. Hi. This month The Women in Red World Contest is being held to try to produce new articles for as many countries worldwide and occupations as possible. There is over £3000 in prizes to win, including Amazon vouchers and paid subscriptions. Wikimedia UK is putting up £250 specifically for editors who produce the most quality new women bios for British women, with special consideration given to missing notable biographies from the Oxford Dictionary of Biography and Welsh Dictionary of Biography. If you're not interested in prize money yourself but are willing to participate independently this is also fine, but please add any articles created to the bottom of the main contest page even if not competing. Your participation in the contest and contributing articles on British women from your area or wherever would we much appreciated. Thanks.

The file File:Phil Collins InTheAirTonight.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Hi...

[edit]

Hello Phill! I am quite new to Wikipedia (only about 10 edits) and I wrote my first article today. Would you mind reviewing it? Draft:Anne Lequy. I'd be really pleased. Also, the article is quite short and thoroughly researched. Some citations are in German but this shouldn't be a problem for you since you are active on German language Wikipedia too. I really took a lot of time to make this draft, so it turned out quite good (I think). I would love to hear your suggestions for improvement. Lmqay (talk) 20:38, 27 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
