I have removed the tag - an obituary in the BMJ is, almost by definition, significant coverage in a reliable source - enough to avoid speedy (my emphasis) deletion (though not necessarily other deletion activities yet as you need several reliable sources). I prefer to write new articles offline in a text editor and paste a fuller version with multiple sources as a first edit, mainly to avoid what's happened here! Hi, I have re-instated the External link section with the link to his obituary, because I think the article needs to display clearly the fact that the subject had an obituary in a national newspaper. This fact is the strongest element in the article that confers notability on the subject and needs to be made prominent to deter other editors from questioning wether or not the subject has sufficient notability to warrant an article. I think that the subject of this article is distinctly "borderline delete" when it comes to notability, which is why I did not create it myself. If it gets nominated for deletion it will receive votes for deletion from people who know little or nothing about Scotland, farming or Liberal politics. I have elevated the notability of his 1950 candidacy attaching a DYN nomination in the hope that this would help and adding the broadcaster description that was used by The Times to describe him. It is vitally important for anyone trying to find the cited information that they have as much information as possible. @BlackcurrantTea: I chose to place the whole article in quotes because the only way to access the article was via a ProQuest database through my local library card. From my own user experience I know how frustrating it can be to only have the odd quote from an article that is not easily accessible. I understand that sense of frustration. However, that's not an excuse for reproducing the entirety of a copyrighted article. Rather than report the issue at WP:CPI, I've removed all but the first sentence of the quote, and cut most of The Scotsman quote. If you'd prefer to keep different excerpts from the articles, of course you may select other brief quotations. I'm also putting a lengthy template below this, because it's a good source of information and links for copyright issues. Please read through it. Thank you. Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
