File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Clem3.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 03:17, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. You added the category British businesspeople to an article about a book. Please use categories which actually relate directly to the subject. Thanks. Cheers and happy editing! - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 13:15, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Article-march09.pdf

[edit]
File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Article-march09.pdf. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 72.88.97.166 (talk) 01:46, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on The Twain Maxim, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Thank you for your contributions. One of your recent contributions to Clem Chambers has been reverted or removed, because it contains speculative or unconfirmed information about a future event. Wikipedia has a policy called Wikipedia is not a crystal ball, which discourages such edits. Please only add material about future events if it is verifiable, based on a reference to a reliable source. Thank you.Jan1naD (talkcontrib) 13:19, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add soapboxing, promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. Toddst1 (talk) 19:58, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Francescad. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about following the reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Toddst1 (talk) 19:58, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Enivid,

I didn't realise Yahoo! Finance was an internal link. I have changed the ADVFN reference to an internal link also, so I assume this is ok as it now gives readers two sources for information.

Baba Yaga

[edit]

First, thank you for your effort to write about the book Granny Yaga on the Baba Yaga article. I appreciate that you're trying to improve Wikipedia, but I believe that mentioning that book would not improve the Baba Yaga article, as it is a novel that only features a fictional character similar to Baba Yaga. These sorts of mentions typically belong to a Popular culture section, if the article has one, and even if Baba Yaga were famous enough in pop culture that it warranted a mention in the article, the novel you reference came out this year and hardly had any time to influence it.

On Wikipedia, an often used procedure when you disagree with a new change to the article is to revert it and discuss it with the person who did it. I'm writing this here in case you didn't see my edit summaries when I reverted your edits. DaßWölf 17:45, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wölf Hi, I appreciate the time you've taken to contact me. The book begins with a very faithful portrayal of the story of Baba Yaga: Koschei the deathless, the hut on chicken legs and the Krivichi tribe. It then shows a different side to the character. I therefore felt it was pertinent. The book is firmly rooted with the tradition. Francescad (talk) 18:59, 20 October 2016 (UTC)Francescad[reply]

Thanks for responding, I'm glad that you're willing to discuss this :) Just one thing, you should indent your responses on talk pages with colons, :. That way it's easier to see who said what.
About the book, it's nice that the book is a faithful portrayal, but that in itself is not enough to warrant a mention in the Baba Yaga article. There have been many books, films, etc., featuring Baba Yaga with more or less verisimilitude, and if we included even just the better ones, the list would soon get out of control. For example, a few dozen are listed here, and that list is still lacking. To fix this issue, Wikipedia generally requires reliable third-party secondary sources that are relevant to the article topic. For example, a top quality source for the edit you made would be a scholarly work, whose author(s) are unrelated to the book author and publisher(s), that discusses portrayals of Baba Yaga in modern literature. In reality, we often have to do with less, but simply referencing the book itself is citing a primary source, which is not sufficient here.
P.S. I see some editors have alleged that you have a connection with some of the subjects of articles you have edited. If that's the case, you should read Wikipedia's policy on conflict of interest and paid editing. Generally, editors are discouraged from working on articles where they have a conflict of interest, as this often leads to problems retaining a neutral point of view. Notice

The file File:ADVFN Plc logo.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Orphaned file. Has no use on wikipedia since there is no article on ADVFN.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. File permission problem with File:Chambers-30a.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Chambers-30a.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to [email protected], stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to [email protected].

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 08:27, 31 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
