Deletion of Dark Forces Clan
[edit]I am wondering why my article of the Dark Forces Clan has been deleted. I spent hours on it and I'd like an explanation- whether or not it is a valid explanation or not, if there is a copy of the article I'd like it sent to me- I need the information and would like to think my 3 hours had not been wasted.
I have had previous troubles with Americans putting up my articles for deletion due to notability. Of course you may fail to see the notability, but I assure you there are many Australians who would like this information and like to know what is happening around where they live- who knows, they may want to be a part of the clan- I mean it when I say we are more well known than you'd think. If I could get a copy of the article putting it on my user page would help. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Darth Maddolis (talk • contribs)
Town stubs/tagging
[edit]Yeh, I haven't got anything against the UK or anything ;). It just seems a bit pointless having thousands of articles on small villages which are unlikely to get expanded for a while. The user has made quite a lot. The information provided in most of them could be found on the web or map anyway. But, hey WP isn't a paper encylopedia. I won't tag anymore unless it only says something like "Eastbourne is a town in the UK".--Andeh 14:17, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Greg Garner
[edit]understand this page has seems bad, but it is very important to over 50 kids who have had Mr. Garner's class in High School. He really reached kids, and taking this page down would be like spitting in those kids faces. There are some stupid things, but they are all inside jokes, and we plan to explain that they are jokes. Other wise, the qoutes from people, and the general information are true about Mr. Garner, and his most famous class, Science Fiction. Taking this page down without telling us how to make it okay would be very dirty and Republican-like, and no one wants that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TheBigOlBug (talk • contribs)

Continuing Translation
[edit]I really haven't had a schedule conducive to translating lately. Tonight was the first time in a few days I've been able to get on for a long time, and TfD had gotten out of hand again. (It always has a backlog.) I have to work at an insanely early hour tomorrow, but I may be able to translate the article- all of it- tomorrow afternoon. RyanGerbil10(The people rejoice!) 04:10, 4 August 2006 (UTC) (11:10PM Central)
- Oops. I had to take an extra shift for someone who called in sick, didn't have time to translate, nor will I have time tonight or tomorrow. RyanGerbil10(The people rejoice!) 22:41, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
- Unusually, I translated a bit! Even more unusually, I have off tomorrow. RyanGerbil10(The people rejoice!) 05:09, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
- I've written on Esperanza's alert page that I am taking a Wikibreak in order to re-evaluate why I am at Wikipedia in the first place. The last thing I'm going to do before I go is finish that translation, it would be rude to leave it unfinished, and then embark on an existensial quest :) .RyanGerbil10(The people rejoice!) 22:32, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- I've finished. The German article has a lot of material that can't really be translted. Much of the German article is written from the German point of view, so if I translated it, I'd have to stick a big {{globalize}} tag on it. I might tweak the article from time to time, but the translation is complete. I really feel I should apologize, I'm usually a much more relaible translator, I'm just having a stressful time at the moment. (I'm moving to another state in six days). I hope you like the translation, and that you don;t hesitate to ask me for help in the future. Happy to be of service, RyanGerbil10(The people rejoice!) 05:52, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- By the way, I'll have a look over Jackson Haines tomorrow and see what the Germans have to add. RyanGerbil10(The people rejoice!) 06:06, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

I understand your assertion that the article is biased towards this horse. Hard not to be. Heros do that to a person. Perhaps it isn't quite "encyclopedic" enough. Avidity edit.
[edit]I feel I must question your disapproval of my post on Avidity. Your reason given reflected an infringement of copyrighted material. As the author of the material referenced in the article I feel I have a right to post this. It was my desire to 1) enter the article into public domain so as to avert copyright infringement by others who have used the information without properly referencing it 2) to make the information freely available to anyone and 3) to allow the information to be pier reviewed by the Wikipedia community of users. A review of the Wikipedia GFDL demonstrates my post has not violated any regulations and is, apparently, a demonstration of the implied and stated use of Wikipedia.

IAmaze deletion
[edit]Fang, given all the hype around AJAX technology these days, I think the iAmaze use of this technology 3 years before the term was invented makes it noteworthy. Also, this page was being circulated to members of the original iAmaze and DIG team for additional contribution. [edit]I don't think it met criteria for speedy deletion. Bloap
[edit]Mr. Aili:
I notice that you deleted my recent addition (Bloap) to Wikipedia. (Please see talk:Bloap) I find the creation of terms such as Bloap to be of value to our culture as they reflect the growing importance of user-driven content in the Web 2.0 world. And as an author, I find the creation of new forms of entertainment -- in our increasingly IP-based media landscape -- to be something to be encouraged.
I hope you will reconsider.
J.G. Sandom
Sandom (talk · contribs)
- Well, Erica, I just don't see it that way. I think that Wikipedia has a moral obligation to encourage the creation, and posting of new language that speaks to new social and communications phenomenon. Under your definition of "Notable", the terms Internet or Blog would not have been permitted within Wikipedia until they became mainstream. Surely Net- and Blog-based soap operas are not something that out of the ordinary, nor are they only of interest to a narrow band of people. Again, I hope you will reconsider. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sandom (talk • contribs)

Please don't delete the article of The Grenaders, which I created, and the one about Mike Cretella, who is the lead singer of The Grenaders and whos article just appeared out of no where. I think it;s unnecessary to delete pages which have more information that other articles which are also relatively new. Let it be. Who knows, maybe it could thrive if we have enough contributors? The more the merrier. Please don't delete. You deleted the article Seventeen Again because it was essentially empty. This was a correct decision, but the movie itself might be notable and some verifiable references are available. For example, there is an IMDb entry at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0194422/ . As well, the deletion log http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log/delete&page=Seventeen_Again shows that the article has been deleted a total of four times, and it is possible that one of the previous versions might provide a better starting point for a fresh article, if the article is notable. I would rather not attempt the article myself, since other people are better than I am at writing articles about movies. TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 13:59, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

The International Peace Trail Project
[edit]The Peace Trail Project does in fact exist. Its purpose is to create the world wide will to build The International Peace Trail. It is not, nor could it be, something that one person or one group could possibly build by themselves but something that we must all build together. Ideas are very important. They live and die like you or I. Please do not let the idea of the Peace Trail die. I can think of no reason why there should not be an entry about a world wide project to build an International Peace Trail. By allowing this entry to remain, you help make this a possiblity. I can work on the entry more from time to time, if you want, to help explain why the idea is so important, what it can do and how it can be built but of course I cannot possibly build it myself.
BTW, I notice there is an entry for The Garden of Forking Paths. That is an idea as well. No one has needed to build it for there to be an entry.

The International Peace Trail is supremely notable
[edit]The International Peace Trail is being considered not notable by the editors of wikipedia and is going to be deleted. Yet it is very notable. It offers a wonderful chance for a sustainable future by offering a blueprint with which to create one. So much of what is considered notable by society today is garbage and won't matter to anyone when they're gone. The Peace Trail however holds the possibly of remaining notable long after we are gone. It is notable for one important reason: we cannot take it with us, but we can leave it behind.
The International Peace Trail is supremely notable because it helps us to leave behind a living blue-green marble for our children. It should be noted that this is not what we are currently leaving behind. This is why it should be patently obvious why The International Peace Trail is so important. What we are leaving behind is a toxic soup. If it continues to be a living planet, it will do so without us. If we wish to remain along for the ride, we must get our act together. The Peace Trail is supremely notable because it creates a focal point, a project, and an opportunity for us to do just that.

Martians band deletion
[edit]I understand the consensus for deletion of the article, but refer to the notability guidelines:
- Has been featured in multiple non-trivial published works in reliable and reputable media (excludes things like school newspapers, personal blogs, etc...).
They were the subject of articles by The Scotsman and The Herald (national UK newspapers) and also a release by UP that was picked up as widely as the Washington Times and North Korea Times.
- Contains at least one member who was once a part of or later joined a band that is otherwise notable; note that it is often most appropriate to use redirects in place of articles on side projects, early bands and such.
See "David Sneddon", ex-member (and present collaborator), winner of Fame Academy in the UK
- Has won or placed in a major music competition.
See "The Highland Quest For A New Musical" - winners with "The Sundowe"
- Has been the subject of a half hour or longer broadcast on a national radio network.
Two appearances on BBC Scotland's "Radio Cafe"
Composers and lyricists
For composers, songwriters, librettists or lyricists:
- Has credit for writing or co-writing either lyrics or music for a musician or ensemble that qualifies above.
John Kielty and Gerry Kielty of The Martians have both written lyrics and music for and with David Sneddon (see above) and his band "The Sham" which have been released and charted in the UK and abroad.
- Has written a song or composition which has won or placed in a major music competition not established expressly for newcomers.
See "The Sundowe", winner of the Highland Quest as noted above.
I trust this is enough to meet the notability guidelines. I have the original article stored should it have been permanantly deleted.
As an aside, I know you do a lot of good keeping the dross out of wikipedia, and well done :) This article deserves to be there though :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Geoff.robbins (talk • contribs)

They ruin my day cause they're too bloody tedious to clean up. Time to AFD/SD everything. *sigh* -- Netsnipe (Talk) 17:29, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- OK. I've left a message for the festival director at User_talk:Rosencomet while User:Project2501a and #wikipedia are helping to take care of this self-promotion while I goto sleep. Cheers, Netsnipe (Talk) 18:08, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
I'm still here
[edit]Just ... came back from a Wikibreak, then spent some time getting affairs back in order, then ... got sick. Sorry I haven't been around to help much with the Wikiproject lately. I'll be back ... eventually. theProject 23:51, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
Life points
[edit]I created the article life points which was redirected to hit points. Life points, specifically the term used by college drinking culture, is a hypothetical measure of partying while the term hit points refers to gaming culture. This, I feel, is reason enough to have a separate page for life points, which are completely different than the page they redirect to. JW 21:40, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
Sex Symbols
[edit]Apologies, I may have went a little overboard with my own personal feelings towards certain individuals. However I still cite that Pat Kenny is indeed a recognised sex symbol due to the fact that his official site states it. I have added this under the external link section on his Wikipedia page so others who may not be familiar with Kenny's appeal in Ireland will now know more about him. Reply
[edit]Hi! Thanks for your message. Sorry I didn't reply sooner, but I'm still relatively new to Wiki and haven't figured it out entirely yet ;). I'd like to join your Figure Skating project! And your Dance project as well, if that's ok. How does it work? Cosmic dancer 15:58, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
Dale Purves
[edit]Hi, I am working with Dale Purves and have removed any copyright infringing content in the submission that I made for him last week. Why was it removed? What is the criterion for this? I was directed by other administrators to the page and was told that when figures were removed that the entry would be fine. What is the problem now? There are no longer figures and the wording which I submitted was not copied directly from the Purves web site or any of his materials.
Sincerely, Robert--Robert 03:42, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
Re [3], but it just a false bluelink, a disambiguation between two non-existent pages. I could have done the same - but you did not cure the underlying defect. - CrazyRussian talk/email 16:43, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I've seen the Russians do it, e.g. Znamenka. They're the only ones I've seen doing it. I think it's counterproductive to have this in our pedia. - CrazyRussian talk/email 17:02, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
- I'd rather you reverted yourself, if you don't mind. - CrazyRussian talk/email 17:04, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
About my article about myself
[edit]I am being followed and can hardly go out without at least 10 people saying hello and asking for my autograph, can I somehow prove this to you so that you may remove the speedy deletion tag on the article about me? I felt it needed an article when even my dad has an article in the swedish wikipedia (he has played with many of the biggest jazz legends in the world). Only about 2 or 3 people greets him when he walks about a major city.

anyhow, I recently saw my father in a big jazz encyclopedia (american). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vektor at oxo (talk • contribs)
Thinner (Netlabel)
[edit]As a response to the deletion of OXO-Unlimited I now request you as an administrator to no treat the likes of me differently. Thinner (Netlabel) is just like OXO-Unlimited in your opinion a self-promoting article, and for me to accept your decision and respect you as an administrator I'd like you to treat it just the same, or allow OXO-unlimited to exist within wikipedia. Please restore my article or remove less notable netlabels. --Vektoratoxo 21:57, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
Temp return...
[edit]to request redeletion of my user talk page which was remade by a since banned sockpuppet, and indexed on Google again, which I suppose is wonderful. Can you please redelete? Thanks. - Jjjsixsix. Jjjsixsix (talk · contribs)
- Done. --Fang Aili talk 18:48, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- I can protect it against recreation, if you like. Let me know. --Fang Aili talk 18:50, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- Done. I've protected your userpage as well. Let me know if you ever want it unprotected; right now only admins can edit it. --Fang Aili talk 20:17, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
You deleted Matt and Ramona. I was looking through the CSD category and saw this; they are afternoon radio hosts on WLNK. It seems like this article should have been kept and expanded, rather than deleted, since radio personalities seem to be kept more often than not. I'd appreciate your thoughts on this. Thatcher131 (talk) 19:16, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- I don't want it restored because I don't know anything about them, but I would expect it to be restored at some point. (It's a redlink on WLNK for one thing.) I'm trying to get a handle on CSD in general, and the use (or misuse) of A7 in particular. Obviously no one can know everything, so I don't fault you at all, and it was poorly written. I would love to know why my article, Stick Figure Empire, was deleted. I, and my friends, worked EXTREMELY hard making all that. If their is a copy, i want it! and a sgned explanation in a message sent to TK 002! I will not tolerate people abusing their friggin administrators privlages!

Stick Figure Empire
[edit]Ok, ok, ok, ok.
so what your telling me is-
YOU get to descide what articles stay or are deleted? does anyone have the power to overrule u? just because u dont think it has notablility, doesn't mean is doesn't. In china, maybe it doesn't, but in East Windsor, it does, sista.
