A belated welcome!
Here's wishing you a belated welcome to Wikipedia, Davejohnsan. I see that you've already been around a while and wanted to thank you for your contributions. Again, welcome! Reaper Eternal (talk) 01:32, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
- I haven't actually read a couple of those pages yet, so thank you for pointing them out to me. I don't know if this is a generic greeting or not, but I appreciate it nonetheless. :) Davejohnsan (talk) 07:14, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

Rich Fields
Unverifiable information can be removed you know. If you can't find anything to back it up, why leave it there with an ugly [citation needed] tag cluttering up the article? Tell me what sense it makes to leave it in if you've searched high and low and can't find a single thing saying it's true. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Otters want attention) 02:05, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
- Fair enough; I suppose that may have been a preemptive move on my part since the citation tags were only 2 months old. Davejohnsan (talk) 02:15, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
Improper CSD tag on The Dillster
You recently added an incorrect CSD tag on the The Dillster article. You tagged it for CSD G4 which is recreation of a page that was deleted per discussion. However, the article was never subject to such a discussion in the past. This mis-tag was likely an accident in which case this message is only here to inform you of your mistake. Please take care in properly labeling articles in the future. Thank you. Rabbitfang 01:29, 14 August 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification. I actually chose it intentionally, but I must have overlooked the last part of the description before choosing it. –Davejohnsan (t/c) 02:53, 14 August 2011 (UTC)

Your request for rollback
Hi Davejohnsan. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Salvio Let's talk about it! 22:07, 27 August 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks! I'll keep that in mind when I use it. Davejohnsan (talk) 00:23, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
Your post on AIV
Thank you for your post on WP:AIV, noting that a user who had been reported did not have four edits or warnings. I considered your comment, but decided that the two edits from this person were so inappropriate that it was sensible to block right away rather than wait for more of the same. In most cases your reaction would have been correct, it's just that this was an extreme case. Regards, Newyorkbrad (talk) 22:14, 27 August 2011 (UTC)
- After looking at said user's contributions again, I can't say I blame for you making that decision. Davejohnsan (talk) 00:24, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Jeremy Irons' character does exist. If you don't believe me, wathc the serie. Wednom — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wednom (talk • contribs) 03:39, 16 September 2011 (UTC)
- I do watch the series, but that's beside the point. The fact of the matter is that this character does not exist on the show; if he did, someone would have added him to the character page long ago. However, if you have any actual proof of this character's existence, I'd love to see it.
- Also, for the record, Casey Novak was a main character between seasons 5 and 9 and made one guest appearance in season 12. --Davejohnsan (talk) 04:07, 16 September 2011 (UTC)
- Update: I owe you an apology, as I was mistaken in thinking that Jeremy Irons' character next existed on the show. However, this character still does not belong on the main character table under season ten because 1) his appearances were actually during the twelfth season; and 2) he only made two appearances and was never a regular character. --Davejohnsan (talk) 18:33, 17 September 2011 (UTC)
NCIS (season 9)
Regarding this edit summary, you're quite incorrect. The entire episode, complete with GlobalTV's logo, was uploaded to various torrent sites yesterday, Australian time. This is not uncommon. --AussieLegend (talk) 11:01, 21 September 2011 (UTC)
I've only just seen the talk page comments so I see you're aware of that now. --AussieLegend (talk) 11:37, 21 September 2011 (UTC)
- No worries, and please excuse my skepticism from that evening! --Davejohnsan (talk) 13:32, 21 September 2011 (UTC)
NCIS Season 9
Hello! Yesterday I had right. NCIS was broadcast on Monday in Canada. Why should it not be listed above? -- 91.66.23.88 (talk) 13:19, 21 September 2011 (UTC)
- My reason is fairly simple, though by no means may be a reflection of Wikipedia's official policy, so please feel free to throw one in my face if it turns out to be wrong: Even though NCIS had an original broadcast in Canada before the States, the broadcast date listed here should still remain the one for the States. I hope this makes sense; I'm not known for my eloquence at 6:30am. If you need another explanation, I'll be happy to give one. --Davejohnsan (talk) 13:31, 21 September 2011 (UTC)
Elliot
Please stop adding "was", read WP:IN-U he IS still a character, even if he never appears in new episodes. CTJF83 19:07, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
- Done, but for the record, "Elliot was a detective" is technically correct since Cragen mentioned his resignation in the season 13 premiere. --Davejohnsan (talk) 19:09, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

I just blocked User:Westvoja because he has engaged in edit-warring in spite of the warning you gave him. I hope you realize you broke the 3RR as well at Two and a Half Men today. I'm not going to block you because you were not warned in advance, however, for all purposes and intents, you may consider this a warning. Please don't continue to edit-war at that page. Thanks, FASTILY (TALK) 22:38, 26 September 2011 (UTC)
- Fair enough. --Davejohnsan (talk) 23:25, 26 September 2011 (UTC)
- And I want to add that you should never, ever use rollback when engaged in an edit dispute as you did there. It should only be used for vandalism. only (talk) 23:37, 26 September 2011 (UTC)
- I apologize about that. The first time was deliberate, but by the time I realized it was a wrongful use, it was too late to reverse it. The second time was a pure accident, although I suppose that's really no excuse, anyway. --Davejohnsan (talk) 00:03, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your help with the vital work of patrolling new pages. I noticed that you are not marking some of the pages you've reviewed as patrolled. Please do remember to click the 'mark this page as patrolled' link at the bottom of the new page if you have performed the standard patrolling tasks. Where appropriate, doing so saves time and work by informing fellow patrollers of your review of the page, so that they do not duplicate efforts. Thanks again for volunteering your time at the new pages patrol project. →Στc. 20:44, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know about this. I have the "Mark page as patrolled" option enabled on my Twinkle preferences so that I wouldn't need to worry about marking it manually, but I'll be sure to double check each page now. --Davejohnsan (talk) 21:02, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

The author added another five words after you tagged it, so instead of deleting I userfied it for him to User:Aroy009/Interest-free economy. He is one of the WP:IEP students - they are supposed to have stopped editing, but I was pleased to see an edit from there that was not a copyvio: it actually looks a notable subject, if he hadn't left it to the last minute. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 22:08, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
- It wasn't 'no content' anyway. No content genuinely means that the article contains no text. --Elen of the Roads (talk) 22:44, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
- If I remember correctly, the only text in the article when I made the speedy deletion request was "The concept of Interest Free Economy," which is why I selected {{db-a3}} ("a rephrasing of the title"); however, I will be sure to select {{db-a1}} the next time I see a similarly-made article. --Davejohnsan (talk) 23:22, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, Davej is right, that was the state of the article when he tagged it A3 and IMO that was a correct tag, applied after a (just) reasonable ten minutes. Actually, Dave, I don't think A1 would be appropriate here, because the test for that is "Can you tell what the article is meant to be about?" and with that title I think you can. There's good advice for speedy taggers at WP:10CSD and WP:A7M. You'll see that the article is back, with some more content now. If he had only started earlier (the project deadline is either today or four days ago, depending who you believe) it could have been good. Still, he is not the first student to have left things to the last minute. JohnCD (talk) 23:34, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, sorry. I hadn't realised the guy had added to the article then made a cut and paste duplicate (including your tag) before JohnDC userfied the version that you tagged. So the version I looked at had more content, but only the edit that created it. I suspect your tag was correct for the version you saw, as it sounds like it just contained a rephrase of the title. Apologies due to Davejohnsan here. --Elen of the Roads (talk) 23:38, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

why delete? is a surrealist artist
My article clearly talks about a young surrealist artist with a lot of talent, why are you deleting it?

- Hi, Artsurrexpress. I'm sorry if the speedy deletion request disheartened you in any way; however, any article that does not assert the importance or significance of the topic is subject to deletion. Please take some time to review Wikipedia:Why was my page deleted? and Wikipedia:Notability. I'd also like to point you to Wikipedia:Article wizard, which can help you in the article creation process. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask. In the meantime, you are more than welcome to write a message on the article's talk page if you want to dispute the deletion request. --Davejohnsan (talk) 02:20, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
I wasn't even given a chance to explain why this page should not be deleted but you automatically deleted in less then a minute after I was reading the message.
well then explain me because this article that I made did have some sort of importance and significance.I'am not happy with this at all, so I would like to know what I'am I supposed to do to make sure the page doesen't get deleted again or give further complications. The guidelines are very confusing and I'am getting more disappointed with this Wikipedia!
What do I have to do to make a page based on a Surrealist and Visual young Artist? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Artsurrexpress (talk • contribs) 02:44, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
- Before I start, I want to let you know that I wasn't the one who deleted your page; only administrators have the power to do so, and in this case that admin was User:Acroterion. Since the page has already been deleted, you will need to contact one of these administrators to request a userfication of the page or that a copy be sent to you. If you still have a copy of the article that you made a Word Doc or something, that's even better. Anyway, have you checked out the Article wizard yet? Right now it's your most valuable tool. I'd start with the step-by-step process to make sure your article meets the guidelines here, but if you prefer to cut to the chase and make a draft or submit it for review, go here and enter your article name in the appropriate field. I hope this helps, but let me know if you still have any questions. I know it's a fairly rigorous process, but please don't let it discourage you. --Davejohnsan (talk) 03:09, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

Hovhannes Zardaryan page
I see the page is a subject for deletion. This painter in fact is not a living artist.. (1918 - 1982) There are certainly many other mistakes and formatting problems that must be resolved. Just need more time to figure out the unusual (for me) page editing and formatting. Very few articles exist on the artist on the web - mostly in Russian.
i have the intention to go all the way trough - so that the page could be the first most complete overview of this Artist Life on the Web. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zart-association (talk • contribs) 01:20, 14 November 2011
- Should be fixed now. Sorry about that. I put a strikethrough on the notice and warning on your talk page, but feel free to remove if you don't want the extra clutter. Also, don't forget to sign your comments on talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). --Davejohnsan (talk) 02:04, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
Fornating and layout
Please can you give me few hints for the layout of the page . ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zart-association (talk • contribs) 01:21, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
- There's a pretty comprehensive list of Wiki markup tags at Help:Wiki markup, but that may be a little overwhelming for you, so perhaps the cheat sheet would be more useful to you. For now, the main tags you should know about are section tags, Wiki links, and references. That should get you started for now at least. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, but take advantage of the preview option (alt shift P when you are editing a page) to make sure you use all your tags correctly. If you accidentally mess up, another editor will probably fix it for you. You can also use the Wikipedia:Sandbox to experiment with the tags. --Davejohnsan (talk) 02:11, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

- I have the system set to watchlist any page I edit. That means it tends to grow excessively, and I have to blitz it from time to time, but yours is still on since our conversation a few days ago. JohnCD (talk) 18:37, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
