July 2012 Study of authors of health-related Wikipedia pages
Dear Author/Closedmouth
My name is Nuša Farič and I am a Health Psychology MSc student at the University College London (UCL). I am currently running a quantitative study entitled Who edits health-related Wikipedia pages and why? I am interested in the editorial experience of people who edit health-related Wikipedia pages. I am interested to learn more about the authors of health-related pages on Wikipedia and what motivations they have for doing so. I am currently contacting the authors of randomly selected articles and I noticed that someone at this address edited an article on Leukodystrophy. I would like to ask you a few questions about you and your experience of editing the above mentioned article and or other health-related articles. If you would like more information about the project, please visit my user page (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Hydra_Rain) and if interested, please reply via my talk page or e-mail me on [email protected]. Also, others interested in the study may contact me! If I do not hear back from you I will not contact this account again. Thank you very much in advance.Hydra Rain (talk) 15:37, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Edits are not vandalism
I reported an IP at WP:AIV yesterday, because he keeps editing against consensus; changing years in infobox and removing loan-spell and so on. This was rejected by you, with the because "edits are not vandalism". Yes, I agree that the IP did not deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia, but what do you think should be done with IP's that do have some positive contributions, but most of the edits are disruptive. The IP in question is 109.247.133.156 (talk · contribs · WHOIS), and User:Struway2 and myself have struggled with this guy for months without any response on his talk-page. Do you have any tips or tricks to deal with these kind of IP's ? Mentoz86 (talk) 10:43, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
Category recreation request
Hi Closedmouth. I was wondering if you would be able to recreate Category:Słupsk County geography stubs, which you deleted on July 3 due to it being empty. The reason the category was empty was that someone had broken the associated stub template. Obviously I could recreate the category myself, but I don't know what it looked like before it was deleted. Thanks. DH85868993 (talk) 10:38, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- Of course, sorry about that. --Closedmouth (talk) 10:44, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Infobox NCAA team season
Hi Closedmouth. I see you have made many of the changes to the Infobox NCAA team season. I just received an external request for an Associate head Coach (in basketball, I don't know if it is common in other sports). I see I'm not the only one, Template_talk:Infobox_NCAA_team_season#Associate_Head_Coach, is this something you could do? I've poked around in some templates, but the ones I work in will break a dozen articles if I screw up, not thousands. --SPhilbrick(Talk) 15:08, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

Unprotection request
Hi Closedmouth, Tiësto (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) was protected (with pending changes) by you in July 2010, and it was changed to semi when the pending changes trial ended. How do you feel about removing the semi-protection to see if it's still needed? Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 08:31, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Closedmouth, have you had a chance to consider lifting removing semi-protection? Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 03:36, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
- Ugh, sorry, I keep forgetting about this. I'll have a look when I get home. --Openmouth (talk) 04:10, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
- Okay, finally got some time (remembered) to look at this. Turns out I switched on flagged revisions because people were claiming he died (probably a raid) so I guess it's not really relevant anymore. On the other hand, he is pretty hated, so I wouldn't be surprised if you get mostly vandalism from IPs. Have fun! --Closedmouth (talk) 13:45, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
Request for reduction from full-protection to semi-protection
Template:NFLSecondaryColorRaw is a page us experienced editors can help maintain and adjust with the times-unfortunately, we have to make edit requests because of its indefinite protection. That's why I suggest we have it be indefinitely semi-protected like the other three NFL templates-that way admins can edit it, but would-be vandals can stay out. Tom Danson (talk) 15:47, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
- I guess this was taken care of or something. I dunno whatever. --Closedmouth (talk) 13:59, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
MGM-52 Lance Edits regarding potential copyright issue
An Issue you are involved in, regarding the MGM-52 Lance Article is taking place on that Article's Talk Page. Several Users have repeatedly removed the section "Operators" with the assertion that it contains copyrighted material. Several Users, including myself have just reverted the edits on that Page. I am opening a discussion on that Article's Talk Page in the hopes that a consensus can be reached and the constant reverting can be ended. I am notifying all of the editors involved in the hopes that the problem can be discussed there and a satisfactory conclusion can be reached. King of Nothing (talk) 03:39, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

WikiCup 2013 February newsletter
Round 1 is now over. The top 64 scorers have progressed to round 2, where they have been randomly split into eight pools of eight. At the end of April, the top two from each pool, as well as the 16 highest scorers from those remaining, will progress to round 3. Commiserations to those eliminated; if you're interested in still being involved in the WikiCup, able and willing reviewers will always be needed, and if you're interested in getting involved with other collaborative projects, take a look at the WikiWomen's Month discussed below.
Round 1 saw 21 competitors with over 100 points, which is fantastic; that suggests that this year's competition is going to be highly competative. Our lower scores indicate this, too: A score of 19 was required to reach round 2, which was significantly higher than the 11 points required in 2012 and 8 points required in 2011. The score needed to reach round 3 will be higher, and may depend on pool groupings. In 2011, 41 points secured a round 3 place, while in 2012, 65 was needed. Our top three scorers in round 1 were:
- Sturmvogel_66 (submissions), primarily for an array of warship GAs.
- Miyagawa (submissions), primarily for an array of did you knows and good articles, some of which were awarded bonus points.
- Casliber (submissions), due in no small part to Canis Minor, a featured article awarded a total of 340 points. A joint submission with Keilana (submissions), this is the highest scoring single article yet submitted in this year's competition.
Other contributors of note include:
- Sven Manguard (submissions), whose Portal:Massachusetts is the first featured portal this year. The featured portal process is one of the less well-known featured processes, and featured portals have traditionally had little impact on WikiCup scores.
- Sasata (submissions), whose Mycena aurantiomarginata was the first featured article this year.
- Muboshgu (submissions) and Wizardman (submissions), who both claimed points for articles in the Major League Baseball tie-breakers topic, the first topic points in the competition.
- Toa Nidhiki05 (submissions), who claimed for the first full good topic with the Casting Crowns studio albums topic.
Featured topics have still played no part in this year's competition, but once again, a curious contribution has been offered by The C of E (submissions): did you know that there is a Shit Brook in Shropshire? With April Fools' Day during the next round, there will probably be a good chance of more unusual articles...
March sees the WikiWomen's History Month, a series of collaborative efforts to aid the women's history WikiProject to coincide with Women's History Month and International Women's Day. A number of WikiCup participants have already started to take part. The project has a to-do list of articles needing work on the topic of women's history. Those interested in helping out with the project can find articles in need of attention there, or, alternatively, add articles to the list. Those interested in collaborating on articles on women's history are also welcome to use the WikiCup talk page to find others willing to lend a helping hand. Another collaboration currently running is an an effort from WikiCup participants to coordinate a number of Easter-themed did you know articles. Contributions are welcome!
A few final administrative issues. From now on, submission pages will need only a link to the article and a link to the nomination page, or, in the case of good article reviews, a link to the review only. See your submissions' page for details. This will hopefully make updating submission pages a little less tedious. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Neutrois
Hi, I wanted to know why you deleted Neutrois? I checked the deletion logs for the last two deletions of it, and they made no sense. Neologism: No, it was from 1995, actually. There are some pages I could delete because the name has been coined after 1995, I'll check and see. How about "cell phone" or "Internet"? They're neologisms! Or, how about "not notable"? Well, with all the sources I gave, I assume it is notable. There are people out there who identify with this, so it does exist, therefore it is notable (Or, I could take the articles for Asexuality, Polysexuality, Pansexuality, Bisexuality, Androgyny, Third Gender, and Homosexuality down because they are less than 2% of the human population and some people claim that these things don't exist!) Also, I gave sources, unlike the last two articles for it. Now, Wikipedia should be an encyclopaedia-not something that does whatever society does (in this case, erase neutrois), because it is real and it exists. Or, I can simply delete all the pages I mentioned. Give me a good reason why this article was deleted, other than anything I stated (or cell phone and homosexuality get deleted). Shikku27316 (talk) 17:54, 23 February 2013 (UTC)
- The only source you provided that directly addressed the concept of neutrois was neutrois.com. All the rest were about a third gender in Nepal or something. The rest of your post is nonsense, so I'll just give you these to read: Wikipedia:Existence ≠ Notability, Wikipedia:Existence does not prove notability, Wikipedia:Other stuff exists, WP:ALLORNOTHING, etc. --Closedmouth (talk) 07:35, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah, I read all that Wikipedia stuff. It just looks like the same stuff each page. It looks like a 14 year old wrote it, the style is so unprofessional. If glorious Wikipædia wants to be lacking relevant information, that's fine and I can delete those other pages. OR, we could view some other sources:
http://neutrois.com/ -the website I used as a source. http://gender.wikia.com/wiki/Neutrois -the page on a Wikia. http://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/neutrois -the Wikitionary page. http://www.asexuality.org/wiki/index.php?title=Neutrois -the page on AVEN wiki. http://neutrois.me/ -a Neutrois blog. Okay, so maybe these were more "social", but it is a social topic. So these pages prove that it is pretty notable (much more than Boi (sexual slang), which doesn't even have a definition at all and the source are terribly unrelated to nonexistant). So maybe it doesnt make it notable, but still...--Shikku27316 (talk) 04:27, 3 March 2013 (UTC)

AIV report
Hi Closedmouth,
In regards to this query - the user in question continued to add unsourced content ([1]) to the article - despite being warned. In regards to the warnings they recieved - a L3 OR warning straight off by another user, I don't personally agree with; however, when I reverted the unsourced edits futher, using Huggle, the tool automatically sent out a warning (successive to the one presently there), and in the case of a L4 warning present on the talk page, it maked an AIV report. Hope I have clarified things for you. Cheers, —MelbourneStar☆talk 13:15, 29 March 2013 (UTC)

Crap, I forgot I had rollback on en.wp (I really never ever use it). I was going to click "undo" and see what was changed, but missclicked and it didn't revert far enough back anyway. Also, you know this is being vandalized because of XKCD right? --Splarka (rant) 12:30, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
- No worries. And yeah, I'm actively monitoring the comic because I have nothing better to do apparently. Protecting seems to trigger the article change so now I'm just reverting. --Closedmouth (talk) 12:33, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
- You could probably subvert this with a hidden edit filter that prevents all edits to said article. Heh heh. --Splarka (rant) 12:35, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
- If I had any idea how to use the damn thing I'm sure I could! --Closedmouth (talk) 12:37, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
- Hmm, might be worth requesting one from abusefilter group. --Splarka (rant) 12:45, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

- Sorry about that, Closedmouth - was attempting to see what some of the other options Randall had put in for various NASDAQ-100 companies were. I'll stop disrupting — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.244.214.110 (talk) 16:40, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
Your belated welcome
Thanks so much for the belated welcome and, especially, for the cookies! They were great.
I am slowly finding my way around but find that I have to learn one byte of info at a time. I'm not even sure if I was to respond to your message at your talk page or mine. Most of my contributions, as you can see, are photo images for the NRHP, so my searches have to do with how to do this or that relating to uploading, inserting, formatting into an article, etc. I appreciate your popping in to say hello.
Oh, and as far as the four tildes go, I'm not even sure if I insert those with or without my username! (But I think I just found out by using the "preview.")
I will try to get my user page up and going soon.
