Why is my contribution called "nonsense" and swiftly removed?
I attempted to make a contribution to Wikipedia, but it was swiftly removed, and I was called a Vandal, told I might be banned, because the example I provided was called "nonsense".
The edit was to Deus Ex Machina, where I attempted to provide a modern reference to its use as a way to exemplify, in a well known source, the use of Deus Ex Machina.
Why is my changed called "nonsense"? Who empowers someone else here to call it nonsense and remove it?
I thought this was a place that allowed the editing of pages!? Does some editor disagree with the use of my example? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.156.36.12 (talk) 18:17, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Trying to sort out some IP contributors
Ryulong left a message on my talk, asking me to renew two 3-month rangeblocks that I had placed in April. Since I don't know much about this dispute, I thought I would do a quick check to see if I could understand it. Ryulong cited your recent block of this IP for evasion. Can you say more about what block is being evaded? The blocks I am considering renewing are 76.200.100.0/22 and 76.204.76.0/22. The guy you just blocked appears to be from one of these ranges. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 16:57, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Please can you state specifically why you removed the prod? as per WP:CONTESTED you should "Explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion". --Lil-unique1 (talk) 01:22, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
- Prod was contested here. The prod policy suggests that the user, for the courtesy of others, explain the reason why they are removing the tag, but that in no way suggests that someone's edit should be reverted if it doesn't contain said explanation. "If anyone, including the article creator, removes a {{prod}} tag from an article, do not replace it, even if the tag was apparently removed in bad faith." --Closedmouth (talk) 01:37, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
- In no way does it say I cannot re-add the prod. either. the IP was merely removing the template to keep the article, without an explaination. In my eyes that is vandalism/disruptive just as removing maintainance templates without explaination is. However since you're insisting on AfD that's what I've done. --Lil-unique1 (talk) 12:30, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Grow Indiana Ventures afd
The double nomination was totally my fault. I was fighting off a copyvio/spam attack from a (presumed) member of the company at the time and pretty much borked the afd every way that I could in the process. Kinjal Kishor Article
Hi , there are a lot of people things and whatever that wikipedia lists and not object to being an encyclopedia, I request to restore the kinjal kishor article you deleted, as he is a sufficiently notable author, even if it is difficult to find his references as he mainly writes in a language other than english. It is not as if he is not searched on google, meaning he is searched a lot. You can look at google search statistics if you maintain them. [nexon7] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nexon7 (talk • contribs) 09:26, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
- Nexon, my advice to you is to write that article in his native language (specifically speaking either Hindi, Tamil or whatever it maybe) if enough references are over there to support it. However, you may write the article in English if you have book published that is about him but it is subjected to a few of Wikipedia policy and editing guideline, namely: Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources and Wikipedia:No original research. Or, if you're not confident enough, you can always make a request to create the article at the page of Wikipedia:Articles for creation. Take heed, best. --Dave ♠♣♥♦№1185♪♫™ 13:05, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
- Kinjal Kishor has recently switched to writing in English language from his native language Hindi, which was the reason of English article, though he remains to publish something highly notable in English Language. With all due respect I see your concern. I propose that we should leave the Kinjal Kishor article deleted, until he has made major name in English literature. After which I think there should be no problem with that article. If the administrators agree to restore the article now I have no objection, since it is still searched highly, or if you want to delete the article in current situation seeing your reasons, I propose to leave the article open for creating again at a latter date when sufficient references in English speaking countries is available. Please inform me of your decision on this page. Thanks, I understand the rules of wikipedia and agree to follow them. Thanks, for consideration. Nexon7 (talk) 09:01, 16 August 2010 (UTC)nexon7
Facebook page found
Hello Closedmouth, per the above deleted BLP article, this is what I discovered on Facebook, note also that a simple search using google revealed just about a handful of sites all related to him and has that "headshot" photo in them (with this profile on MySpace standing out the most). Another thing, the author/source of his photo that has been uploaded by Nexon7 is unclear and is also lacking permission as well, this has been brought to FfD for review. I suspect that Nexon7 is either the person himself or just another fan but I could be wrong, care to share your thoughts? --Dave ♠♣♥♦№1185♪♫™ 16:59, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- Going deeper into the rabbit hole, this is what I found. Nexon7 is indeed Kinjal Kishor and we can safely deduced from his action, he is using WP to write his own form of blog/BLP here. --Dave ♠♣♥♦№1185♪♫™ 17:23, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

I think you are doing a worthwhile job with tagging of old, forgotten articles, but please ensure that you don't in the one edit add both a Unreferenced BLP tag and a year of death cat to an article with heaps of refs! We're trying to get rid of UBLPs, so we don't need more mistagged ones appearing. Cheers, The-Pope (talk) 16:05, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, AWB converts unref'd tags to BLPunref'd if the article is in the living people cat, and it had added that cat automatically when it didn't detect the year of death, which I subsequently rectified without noticing the change of tag. --Closedmouth (talk) 07:23, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

I saw everything but thank GOD closedmouth deleted the revisions cause, mate, all I'll say is if a guy said that in real life, they'd be subject to legal prosecution provided they're over 18 that is. call me stupid but for some reason I think the guy whose harassing you is a li'll kid ... I'd also like to add that I'm sorry you had to encounter that. I looked up the IP he's from OPTUS WIRELESS BROADBAND which is the same dial up I'm using (btw, he lives in Sydney so don't worry about his deatht threats, it's all empty talk). Unfortunately the guy's blocks go through the server and now and again some of my mates and me find we can't edit Wikipedia for his abuses (we know it's his abuses cause we find we're blocked for his attacks on your user page). The guy is a menace to society. Oh and you shouldn't worry about the death threats mate. I know how you feel it's scary. If you want Report the guy to the police with his IP (the police can track him down, they have acces to these kinds of things). But you shouldn't worry about anything happening since there's theoretically no way anyone can find out who you're (and the guy lives in Sydney). One way they can is if you edit anonymosly so be sure to edit with your account at all times and avoid editing with your IP. It's sad to see that you had to encounter this but just ignore the idiot and he'll go away. telling others that he correct identified your state as you did at AN/I only feeds him so try to avoid saying that publicly. Contacting the moderators by email is the best way I feel to privately communicate. Good luck mate! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.72.204.8 (talk) 08:28, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Creating a page without it being deleted
Hi, i created a page called Kassidy before it was deleted for lack of notability. I tried explaining that I believe the band is notable, because they are signed to Vertigo Records and have producer Jim Abbiss, who both have articles. I believe that this band is notable because anybody looking on those two articles may want to see who this band is, as Kassidy is mentioned on both. Can you please try help me with this Kal! (talk) 11:23, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
- could you please answer me Kal! (talk) 16:25, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, been busy. If you read the notability guidelines on bands, one of the requirements of notability is that they have "released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels". The band you wrote an article about hasn't even finished recording their first album, and they don't meet any of the other requirements yet. They may one day, when they become popular, but Wikipedia isn't a crystal ball, so you'll have to wait. --Closedmouth (talk) 10:47, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, thank you, that was more useful than schuminweb! so it's just albums? or do E.Ps count because they have released two E.Ps (E.Ps are basically smaller albums, 5 tracks on each.) they are being sold in HMV Kal! (talk) 16:33, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Hiyas ClosedMouth,
The unblock-en-l mailing list received an unblock request related to the block you placed on 75.76.252.250. The person who contacted us stating that, while the IP is internally shared, it isn't an open proxy that is public ally available. As far as i could check the server only runs IIS and RDP, and nothing that would indicate an open proxy. Is there some additional information i am missing in this case?

How did you know?
Hi, How did you figure out that Lars Svenonius had died in September. I was not following his obituary, etc. Is there a system that checks the obituaries etc. and notifies people on Wikipedia? That would be interesting. Benoît Mandelbrot died in October, but that was big time news. Svenonius was not on prime time. So how did you know? Thanks. History2007 (talk) 14:03, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
- His article was listed at Wikipedia:Database reports/Potential biographies of dead people (3), i.e., it's in a XXXX deaths cat but the talk page had the {{blp}} template on it. --Closedmouth (talk) 14:18, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks. Now I know that Wikipedia:Database reports exists, but it is not obvious to me if that page is "automatically generated" or hand edited. I have a few programs that automatically generate Wikitables etc. to keep things consistent, so I wonder if there are some auto-page generation routines out there. If this is not your topic of interest, could you please point me to who the expert in this topic is. Thanks. History2007 (talk) 14:50, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
- That would be my good buddy MZMcBride. --Closedmouth (talk) 14:53, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Template:PROD
Hello, Closedmouth … as an Admin you should know that {{Proposed deletion}} must be substituted … see the documentation for confirmation. Happy Editing! — 70.21.16.94 (talk · contribs) 14:48, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, you substitute {{proposed deletion}}, in this edit you're substituting {{proposed deletion/dated}}. The process was changed to reduce confusion for newbies but of course change invariably produces confusion in veteran editors such as yourself. --Closedmouth (talk) 03:53, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
- D'oh! Well, that's news to me! :-) That being the case, someone should create a Template documentation file for it, and list it with the other templates in {{Proposed deletion templates}} … I have never used it, but I'll watch out for it the next time I encounter an un-subst'd PROD when adding a {{Prod-2}}, which is the only reason I noticed it … to be honest, I almost submitted a bug report that {{Proposed deletion}} was failing to error when not substituted … well, that's the New Thing that I learned for today. — 70.21.16.94 (talk) 04:33, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

Deleted page - International Debate Education Association
On 15 March 2010, you deleted the page International Debate Education Association and I wondered if you could send me the content you deleted, as I wish to renew the page. I would like the content you deleted so that I may renew the page without the 'blatant advertising' style. Perhaps I could pass my final draft by you before publishing it? vwoodstock (talk) 14:02, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
