The Greek Runner Statue photo
Closedmouth, sorry I am a new to creating pages for Wikipedia. I took that phptograph of the statue myself, I thought I had indicated that when I uploaded it. Would you be able to direct me to how I confirm this to avoid the license issue you raised? Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hammersmithhistorian (talk • contribs) 09:55, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- Well, if you agree to release it into the public domain, you can just slap {{pd-self}} on it. Personally I prefer the Creative Commons license BY-SA ({{cc-by-sa-3.0}}), but it's up to you. --Closedmouth (talk) 02:48, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

FTV logo.jpg issues
Hi Closedmouth, I would just like to ask that if I can get the rights to use the File:FTV logo.jpg from Frequency TV, can I then put it on WIkipedia? Thanks, Pilkington13 (talk) 16:31, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
- You probably couldn't get them to release it for use on Wikipedia, as that would require them to license the image as free to use outside of Wikipedia itself, and I'm sure Frequency TV would prefer to retain commercial copyright on their logo. You can, however, claim fair use, the details of which can be found at Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline. --Closedmouth (talk) 12:39, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
Keith R. Briffa article deletion
Hi! The Climate Realists blog (http://climaterealists.com/index.php?id=5395) is reporting that the Wikipedia article on climate scientist Keith R. Briffa was deleted for nefarious, cover-up type reasons. If I'm reading it right, you are listed as the administrator who did a speedy delete on the article, although that isn't showing up in your log. Anyhow, I thought you might want to know about the trouble that's coming, and maybe do something to restore the page? Good luck! Jeangoodwin (talk) 16:50, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
- I deleted Keith R. Briffa, a redirect to the deleted article. If people are too stupid to realise that, and blame me for a supposed cover-up, then that's their problem. --Closedmouth (talk) 02:25, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
- If possible, it is nice to include the target page title in the deletion summary. It can be impossible for a non-admin to track the content deletion otherwise. --MZMcBride (talk) 05:33, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
- You know how lazy I am. If Twinkle doesn't do it, I don't do it. --Closedmouth (talk) 12:40, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

- Keith R. Briffa pointed to Keith Briffa. The logs for Keith Briffa are available here. It looks like the deletion was simply the result of the author's request. Conspiracy indeed. --MZMcBride (talk) 05:33, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
Greyfriars plaque photo
Hi,
I took the photo. I dont know the terminology but the photo has no copyright and can be used freely by anyone for educational purposes with my consent.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Socheid (talk • contribs)
- By "for educational purposes with my consent", do you mean it specifically can't be used for anything but educational purposes, and that it can't be used without your consent? Because these requirements are pushing the definition of "free". For an image to be defined as free on Wikipedia, it should be permitted to be used and modified in any form, including commercial use. That's kind of how it works. --Closedmouth (talk) 12:55, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
Talk page redirects
You recent deleted "Template talk:Infobox pigeon breed/doc" and similar pages as "Speedy deleted per CSD G8, redirect to a deleted or non-existent page". It's my understanding that it's permissible to redirect talk pages of /doc pages to the relevant main talk page, even if non-existent, to prevent future discussion from becoming fragmented. Andy Mabbett (User:Pigsonthewing); Andy's talk; Andy's edits 18:52, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
- If you're redirecting to something non-existent, then the redirect will be deleted as G8. I don't see the point in redirecting to a page that doesn't exist. --Closedmouth (talk) 14:39, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- I've always found creating broken redirects as analogous to putting your furniture next to the curb. While it's not guaranteed that the garbage man is going to think your furniture is intended for him to collect, you shouldn't be surprised if it disappears. --MZMcBride (talk) 00:01, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

Move of IPv6 Packet to IPv6 packet
Dear Closedmouth,
You moved page 'IPv6 Packet' to 'IPv6 packet'. That's OK, but would you be so kind to move (or undelete) the accompanying Todo page as well? —— Dandor iD (talk) 10:57, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

- The page seems to have vanished by the move you made. It normally is a subpage of Talk:subject named 'to_do', like Talk:IPv6 address/to do. I'm sure I had one... —— Dandor iD (talk) 08:43, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

"As you wish"
Oh, no, I would have wished people DID use the discussion page. Did try to be constructive. Suggest better wordings. Suggest citations. I should add, even saying why they thought I was wrong would have been better than nothing! 216.239.82.80 (talk) 10:42, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
That actually happened on another article I contributed to, and although the wording ended up different than I would have done, I'm happy because what the other person posted was better than what I had.
Sandstein having blocked me, rather than the real vandals, I was content to let that stay as it was. But what I wish would have been that people be cooperative and constructive. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.239.82.80 (talk) 10:41, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

- I'm sorry, I have no idea what you're saying to me. --Closedmouth (talk) 11:25, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
What I am pointing out is that the other people were destructive with their reversions. And they were not using the discussion page. I DID use the discussion page and urged others to do so too. Most people didn't even try to put in an argument saying why they thought I was wrong. I was the constructive one, yet I was the one blocked. Sandstein ignored that reality, and blocked me. Not only from the article, but even from discussion pages and at least some talk pages! I can't possibly fight the powers of wikipedia --- and have no interest in doing that --- but at least Sandstein's unfairness was here for people to see. And similarlly, your failure to correct Sandstein's unfairness is also here for people to see. 216.239.88.76 (talk) 02:08, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Vandal alert
I don't know if you can block ranges, but can you block the 114.59.0.0/16 range? It is used by a long term IP-hopping Indonesia vandal who delibrately inserts misinformation by ridiculously connecting CBS, Digimon, and Resident Evil articles without any source to back up his claims. The range was blocked before, but after the block expired, the vandal began doing his modus operandi again by using the following addresses in just the past two days:
- 114.59.198.247 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log)
- 114.59.195.76 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log)
He also used the following addresses, leading to the previous blocks.
- 114.59.196.138 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log)
- 114.59.191.27 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log)
- 114.59.177.219 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log)

- 114.59.100.70 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log)
I hope that you take action ASAP before he strikes again using another address from within the range. Thank you. - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 10:37, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- Never mind. Range blocked for 31 hours. But you will be among the first ones to know once he strikes again within the range, or any other address or range. Thanks in advance. - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 11:13, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
Possible autoblock problem
Thanks for responding to the problem I occured. When I tried to edit a page today, I found that I has been blocked. The block was given on 2 April 2010 and already expired, and I success to edit at a page. However, two hours later, I could not edit any pages, stating I have been blocked again - but the block was given on 2 April 2010. Then I have a big question mark there. What's going on that a expired "autoblock" reoccurs at a past time? I have got an account-block, what related to the autoblock? Raymond "Giggs" Ko 16:16, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

To expedite the claim whatever you need changed will be completed immediately following your response. I appreciate your help in this urgent matter.

Deleting en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F.O.S.I. & Talk:F.O.S.I.
I understand wikipedia's editors have made large efforts to keep deceitful claims off wikipedia.
I understand that someone could have posted citation needed after material supect of being deceitful material.
I understand that someone could have posted citations needed at the top of the page.
I understand that someone could have challanged the material that had no citations if any person believed it to be deceitful.
I understand that someone could have posted citations needed at the end of each claim.
I understand that someone could have even deleted material that had no citations if any person believed it to be deceitful.
But to delete the whole page, to delete the whole page, without even giving some counter citation, to delete the whole page, and not even leave a copy in the articial history, (a copy could be there for people to further read about)
(and to even delete the F.O.S.I. talk) is edit hawking. This can also appear as "topic haterid".
Wikipedia has this challenge process. It needs a chance to be given for it to work. This page only SEEMS to be TREATED as if it where advocating racial wars.
I did not write the page, but I did pull it off google's cache. 75.119.98.215 (talk) 21:11, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

- Goto any other page that has anything good to say about anything that sells anything.
- ESET, paragon, (any place that has anything good to written about anything that sells anything)
- can be named and IS advertisment.
- If an artical is at first one sided, it should never be the job of the next editor(s) to delete wich ever side that did get witten first. Rather it is the job of further editors to present and reasearch other oposing sides that may exist.75.119.98.215 (talk) 22:38, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Dear ClosedMouth. You deleted the page Harry Ralston because you considered screenwriter/director Ralston un-notable , possibly because there was no attribution in the article. But Ralston's film "The Last Man," that he wrote and directed won the Best Film prize at two significant international film festivals, was reviewed with promise by the lead critic for the New York Times, AO Scott, and was released by Lions Gate Films, a notable studio. Furthermore Ralston is a frequent co-writer with Roger Avary, Academy-Awarding winning screenwriter of "Pulp Fiction," as noted in Avary's bio, on IMDB and on Avary's wikipedia page. Last, Ralston has a recent screenwriting credit on the MGM film "Mexicali." and has another script being produced this year called "Ace of Spades," with Forrest Whittaker. The article about him is reposted below with complete attribution" Thought it really deserved reconsideration. Best, Len Cantrow}}
Harry Ralston is an American-born screenwriter, director, and producer.[1] After working in advertising in New York and then as a journalist covering bullfights for the Mexico City News he moved to Los Angeles and wrote and directed the 2000 film The Last Man [2] which starred Jeri Ryan (in her first starring role), and produced the 1999 Tamara Hernandez film Men Cry Bullets [3] The Last Man won Best Film in the Festival of Fantastic Films in London[4] as well a Lumière Award in the New Orleans Film Festival[5]. It was released by Lion's Gate [6] [7]. He most recently co-wrote the MGM film "Mexicali" with Roger Avary and Cristian Gudegast & Patrick Kelly[8].

Pocket Gamer entry on Wiki
Hi there,
I recently tried to create a Wikipedia page for Pocket Gamer, but you rejected it. I was hoping you could tell me why.
My arguments in favour of having a page on Wikipedia are
a) that Pocket Gamer is referenced in hundreds of other articles on Wikipedia (a search yields 4549 results, though not all refer to Pocket Gamer), many of them with incorrect links to an old entry for the long-defunct Pocket Gamer magazine (e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob's_Game). b) that dozens of other comparable video game blogs have Wikipedia entries, including Kotaku, Joystiq, Destructoid, and so on. Each of these sites has referenced stories by Pocket Gamer on numerous occasions, just as Pocket Gamer has referenced many of theirs. On this basis, I find it difficult to understand why Pocket Gamer is being singled out as ineligible.
Would you mind explaining?

deleted page
Hello closedmouth, You could have kept your mouth closed and not deleted my page. It is a genuine listing of my radio career there were references to stations I worked for but obviously didnt meet your requirements. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Peterquinn (talk • contribs) 20:06, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

Cyprus-Norway relations
Can you userfy Cyprus-Norway relations for me so I can bring it up to Wikipedia standards. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 15:34, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
- Well firstly, I didn't delete the article itself, just a redirect. Secondly, the deleted revisions appear to have been merged into Talk:Foreign relations of Norway/MergedRelations. I have no idea why. --Closedmouth (talk) 15:31, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
Kirkstall Valley Campaign
Why did you delete the Wikipedia article on the Kirkstall Valley Campaign?
I have not read these pages - perhaps they were inaccurate, however:
1) This organisation certainly existed and I was a Director. 2) There is an comprehensive documentary record of the Campaign's activities. 3) It brought a significant action in the UK High Court, which is still discussed to in legal circles. 4) It was defeated as a direct result of a false or misleading statement from the UK Treasury Solicitor. 5) The history of the Kirkstall Valley Campaign has great relevance for community groups who challenge established authority.
It would be helpful if you could undelete these pages so that I can read them and discuss their contents with you.

dated prod blp
What is the proper way to include this template in articles? I've tried {{dated prod blp}}, and somebody (I think it's you) has come along and fixed it. I've tried {{subst:dated prod blp}}, and somebody (I think it's you) comes along and fixes it. I'm not new, I'm rather familiar with templates, and I'm stumped. HELP! 24.4.101.72 (talk) 15:11, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
- It's {{subst:prod blp}}. Just like a normal prod except you add blp to it. --Closedmouth (talk) 15:19, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
- Wow, that's so... obscure, I guess. ;) Thanks. Any way to correct the {{dated prod blp}} (redirect/whatever) so others don't make the same mistake? Hopefully you won't have to fix any more for me. 24.4.101.72 (talk) 15:28, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
Error
Hi, I think you removed one of my comments by accident. Do you have access to the deleted source so you can undo your error? Cheers, 79.75.134.219 (talk) 16:10, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

Deletion of Ultra 2008 Ultra 2009
Hi, was just wondering if you could provide clarification on why the pages for Ultra 2008 and Ultra 2009 were taken down. Thanks.
Mendle44 (talk) 06:10, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
- They were redirects to Ultra.2008 and Ultra.2009 respectively. If you would like these articles restored I can do that for you. --Closedmouth (talk) 06:23, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
Sorry. I meant the original articles which were deleted based on Notability, yet whose albums had some of the most popular artists on the compilation. What's the rationale behind deletion? Thanks. Mendle44 (talk) 06:28, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
Prod
The prod was contested but they're also supposed to improve the article or explain why and he didn't do that and that makes it invalid. — Rlevse • Talk • 11:29, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
- "If anyone, including the article creator, removes a {{prod}} tag from an article, do not replace it, even if the tag was apparently removed in bad faith." There is no pre-requisite for improvement of the article, if the tag is removed, it's contested. --Closedmouth (talk) 13:54, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

First of all, don't edit with doppelganger accounts. Second, the source provided in the article specifically says that over 200 million games have been sold. --75.25.103.109 (talk) 21:43, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I'm a new member, but I've been editing Wikipedia for probably years - mostly grammar and minor details that needed to be fixed up. I recently came across a musical group that has no English Wikipedia article, but does have a rather inadequate Simple English article (update: that article was deleted yesterday). The English article has been speedy deleted five times; thrice under A7, once under each A9 and G10. I want to create an article that won't get speedy deleted, so I have a couple of external links, I can compile a discography, and a paragraph or two of information about 009 Sound System and Alexander Perls' work in other groups. Do you have any other handy hints for writing a quality article? This will be the first page I have created. MoonShadow384 (talk) 00:46, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
