It seems that you deleted this article three minutes after it was put up for discussion in AfD. As a new editor, I'm not sure how this is handled. It would seem best to restore the article so editors can discuss it. Thanks, Mark viking (talk) 16:19, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Andover F.C., you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page The Telegraph (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

In This Issue

Re: List of American football teams in the United Kingdom

[edit]

The main issue was that there was a lack of consensus on wether to promote it from several users, and keeping it opened was not a good thing, specially after more than a month since the last logged comment on the nomination page. Of course, you are free to re-nominate the list at any time you want :) — ΛΧΣ21 16:32, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Giants, as me, is a delegate/director, and I tend to consider only non-delegate/director comments, unless we expressely support or oppose a list. Anyways, I saw that your list was in good shape, so you would like to renominate it today or tomorrow, and ask some friends to give it a review. Remember that if its archived, it does not mean that it is not up to standard, but that significant evidence of consensus to promote was not reached. Regards. — ΛΧΣ21 16:41, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm. It was unsuccessful because for a nomination to be successful, it needs at least three support votes. If several users review, but none of them explicitly state their position (whether support or oppose), then we cannot assess if consensus to promote is being reached. — ΛΧΣ21 16:53, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Always a pleasure to help. If you ever need something, I will be very glad to assist. Have a nive day :) — ΛΧΣ21 16:56, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, the bot should have closed it already, but no. You don't have to. The common practice is to wait a week or so, but you can renominate now. Cheers. — ΛΧΣ21 17:52, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re: List of awards and nominations received by Adele

[edit]

Yes, the Adele list should absolutely be promoted to Featured list status, following some work. I'd be happy to co-nominate, though each section of the list needs to be checked for accuracy and completeness before nomination, as there has been much vandalism to the list over the years. We might consider listing the sections on the talk page and checking off ones we have verified? Generally speaking, though, happy to co-nominate the list with you when the time is right. Thanks for your interest in improving the list and for approaching me. --Another Believer (Talk) 15:09, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

So whenever I am working on an article with another contributor, I find it helpful for one or both of us to add the "underconstruction" template to the top of the article (when actively working) to reduce edit conflict, then removing the template once you have completed your work. --Another Believer (Talk) 16:17, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there

Just to let you know, after tomorrow I won't be around for nearly two weeks, so I was wondering if you might be able to stop by and see if all your comments have been addressed to your satisfaction while I've still got a chance to make further changes.......

Cheers! -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 21:31, 28 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ever considered WP:TFL?

[edit]

Hello Bald Zebra, your recently promoted featured list would make a very suitable candidate for main page inclusion if you would be interested in nominating it. We have a process at Today's featured list which enables us to create blurbs and then gather community support for lists to be presented on the main page every Monday. The process allows up to ten nominations at the submissions page, so if it's full you may need to wait, but it would be great if you could consider nominating your list, or helping out with those other lists that have already been nominated. Thanks for your ongoing interest in the featured list process. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:58, 29 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Main Page appearance

[edit]

Hello! This is a note to let the main editors of the article List of American football teams in the United Kingdom know that it will be appearing as the main page featured list on May 20, 2013. You can view the TFL blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured list/May 20, 2013. If you think it is necessary to change the main date, you can request it with the featured list directors The Rambling Man (talk · contribs), Dabomb87 (talk · contribs) or Giants2008 (talk · contribs), or at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured list. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions of the suggested formatting. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. Thanks! Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 05:15, 17 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Living Paths! Logo

As a member of WikiProject Wales, WikiProject Cardiff or an user who has contributed to Welsh articles we invite you to contribute to a new project, Living Paths!: articles, images, translations... Lonely Planet rated the coast of Wales "the best region on Earth" in 2012, yet there is a very low number of articles on the history and culture of places along the Coastal Path. This promises to be an exciting project as it gathers momentum with many Users joining in across the world.

If you are interested in training groups in Wales, please leave a message on the Talk Page.
Let's make this WikiProject, like the path itself, the best on earth! And let's put Wales back on the map!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Extended confirmed protection

[edit]

Hello, Bald Zebra. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.

Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.

In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:

  • Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
  • A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.

Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:48, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Hi, at Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge we're striving to bring about 10,000 article improvements and creations for the UK and Ireland and inspire others to create more content. In order to achieve this we need diversity of content, in all parts of the UK and Ireland on all topics. Eventually a regional contest will be held for all parts of the British Isles, like they were for Wales and the Wedt Country. We currently have just over 1900 articles and need contributors! If you think you'd be interested in collaborating on this and helping reach the target quicker, please sign up and begin listing your entries there as soon as possible! Invite to the African Destubathon

[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:26, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins

[edit]

Hello,

Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. A new user right for New Page Patrollers

[edit]

Hi Bald Zebra.

A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.

It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.

If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. This month The Women in Red World Contest is being held to try to produce new articles for as many countries worldwide and occupations as possible. There is over £3000 in prizes to win, including Amazon vouchers and paid subscriptions. Wikimedia UK is putting up £250 specifically for editors who produce the most quality new women bios for British women, with special consideration given to missing notable biographies from the Oxford Dictionary of Biography and Welsh Dictionary of Biography. If you're not interested in prize money yourself but are willing to participate independently this is also fine, but please add any articles created to the bottom of the main contest page even if not competing. Your participation in the contest and contributing articles on British women from your area or wherever would we much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi. We're into the last five days of the Women in Red World Contest. There's a new bonus prize of $200 worth of books of your choice to win for creating the most new women biographies between 0:00 on the 26th and 23:59 on 30th November. If you've been contributing to the contest, thank you for your support, we've produced over 2000 articles. If you haven't contributed yet, we would appreciate you taking the time to add entries to our articles achievements list by the end of the month. Thank you, and if participating, good luck with the finale!

I updated content on the page Sol Plaatje University and unfortunately, it has now been deletd on Wikipedia. The message I received with regards to this said I could ask one of the admins to help recover my content so I can re-edit and draft. Could you please help?

Also, the message suggested that one of the reasons why my content was deleted was because of my username being attached to a company. Would changing my name help?

Thank you.

Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)

[edit]

ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.

Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.

We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.

For the Arbitration Committee, -Cameron11598 21:03, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of pending suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity

Because you have been inactive, your administrative permissions will be removed if you do not return to activity within the next month.

Inactive administrators are encouraged to rejoin the project in earnest rather than to make token edits to avoid loss of administrative permissions. Resources and support for reengaging with the project are available at Wikipedia:WikiProject Editor Retention/administrators. If you do not intend to rejoin the project in the foreseeable future, please consider voluntarily resigning your administrative permissions by making a request at the bureaucrats' noticeboard.

Hello, Bald Zebra. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "List of American football teams in France".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! JMHamo (talk) 09:55, 15 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

American Banjo Museum

[edit]

Hello,

I visited the American Banjo Museum in Oklahoma City on Monday. I left impressed with the museum's collection and would like to write an article (focused on their collection, which contains many very rare or unique instruments). I don't want to write an advertisement, and since you were involved in deleting the last article about this place, I am contacting you. When I finish the article (probably next week), would you mind looking at it before I publish? I want to clear up any objections. Jacqke (talk) 00:15, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
