Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from one or more pages into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. Scorpions13256 (talk) 14:19, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! I see that you gave attribution to the origin site where I copied from. Is that correct? ArtsLab2001 (talk) 14:43, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Did you copy from the article from Mary Overlie, or did you copy from another website? If you copied from another website, you must undo your edits because that is a WP:COPYVIO. Scorpions13256 (talk) 15:01, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I copied from Mary Overlie, would that be a problem? ArtsLab2001 (talk) 15:03, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No. That's fine. Thank you for your contributions, and welcome to Wikipedia! Scorpions13256 (talk) 15:04, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Just a question - if I were to copy information from another website and use it as it, would a citation be sufficient or will I have to paraphrase with an added citation? ArtsLab2001 (talk) 15:05, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No. That would not be acceptable. You are supposed to paraphrase content in your own words. If you copy and paste from another website, they could sue us for copyright infringement. Read WP:COPYRIGHT and the links on the right side of your screen for more information if you have any more questions. The most importants policies you should read are WP:FAIRUSE, WP:COPYRIGHT, and WP:COPYVIO. I hope to see you editing here some more. Scorpions13256 (talk) 15:10, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
