Aha! Thanks. 7&6=thirteen () 11:38, 21 October 2023 (UTC)

Bold, Revert, Discuss

Hi, I wanted to remind you how the BRD cycle works. You boldly added a dictionary definition of "Ahaaha" to Ahaaha Rocks here and here; you were then reverted. I appreciate you opening a talk page discussion, however WP:BRD very specifically states that you must not restore your bold edit until you have reached an agreement. I'm happy to discuss, so I would encourage you to join the talk page discussion and work to address the concerns that have been raised. Repeatedly reinstating your bold edit without doing so is disruptive. –dlthewave 15:02, 21 October 2023 (UTC)

Apparently it is you who needs the reminder as to the application of WP:BRD. Indeed, you reverted me first. It is a question of what is the status quo. See you at Ahaaha rocks, the article's talk page. Which is where this discussion belongs. Cheers. 7&6=thirteen () 15:08, 21 October 2023 (UTC)
Just a heads up, I opened an RfC here. I respect your opinon but I think we're talking past each other and the discussion would benefit from more community-wide input. I tried to use a recent version of the Etymology section, please let me know if you think this fairly represents what you'd like to include. –dlthewave 19:31, 21 October 2023 (UTC)
I just came here to give you a gentle reminder about ONUS, but see it is already under discussion. Per WP:ONUS,

The responsibility for achieving consensus for inclusion is on those seeking to include disputed content.

You should not be restoring challenged content before it has an editor consensus. BRD is an optional process but ONUS is a core policy. The challenge itself is enough to show that the material is not uncontroversial. Now we have an RFC but I would encourage you to note the snowy nature of the consensus on that, and not wait for its closure. You may remove the challenged content at any point. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 09:49, 22 October 2023 (UTC)
You are carrying coals to Newcastle.
Hope you feel better for all that.
I understood what happened at the talk page. Can't change that. It is wrong, but it exists. You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows. Oh well. 7&6=thirteen () 11:28, 22 October 2023 (UTC)

November Articles for creation backlog drive

Hello 7&6=thirteen:

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024

Hello 7&6=thirteen,

New Page Review queue January to March 2024

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.

Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.

Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.

It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

2023 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000 reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000 reviews), 6 Silver (2000 ), 8 Bronze (1000 ), 30 Iron (360 ) and 70 more for the 100 barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.

Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.

Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.

I was hoping that WP:ITN got it on the main page for today's Hash Bash. Presumably it will be a memorial to him, in part. Didn't work out. Given the bureaucracy there, this is not surprising.
36,646 pageviews so far. Not bad.
I am still hoping for it to be up by the time his memorial happens. Not optimistic. 7&6=thirteen () 15:59, 7 April 2024 (UTC)

You did it! Congratulations, - I was about to check if the final cn requests were fulfilled ;) - I had to deal with several giants this year (Ozawa, Reimann, Pollini, Eötvös), each keeping me busy for days. I was so moved that the sentence about a Pollini concert I had heard (so entered the sentence) was the last activity mentioned before his death. Now two RD are waiting, but I'll stubbornly work on my next GA, - have to because I nominated before it was ready, to make it on my friend's birthday. My story today is also about a performance I heard, - I wish him a long life! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:58, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

July music

I remember today Bach's 1724 cantata for this Sunday which is unusual in many respects. A woman's article needs attention for RD, Marina Kondratyeva. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:34, 14 July 2024 (UTC)

My story today is - because of the anniversary of the premiere OTD in 1782 - about Die Entführung aus dem Serail, opera by Mozart, while yesterday's was - because of the TFA - about Les contes d'Hoffmann, opera by Offenbach. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:15, 16 July 2024 (UTC)

Today's story is about a photographer who took iconic pictures, especially View from Williamsburg, Brooklyn, on Manhattan, 9/11, yesterday's was a great mezzo, and on Thursday we watched a sublime ballerina. If that's not enough my talk offers the chamber music from two amazing concerts. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:19, 20 July 2024 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Main Page history/2024 July 30b had a baritone, a violinist, a composer and a Bach cantata, - almost too much, and the composer's article, Wolfgang Rihm, improved much over the last days, could still grow. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:35, 31 July 2024 (UTC)

August music

story · music · places

Today I have three "musicians" on the Main page, one is also the topic of my story, like 22 July but with interview and the music to be played today -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:59, 8 August 2024 (UTC)

On 13 August, Bach's cantata was 300 years old, and the image one. The cantata is an extraordinary piece, using the chorale's text and famous melody more than others in the cycle. It's nice to have not only a recent death, but also this "birthday" on the Main page. And a rainbow in my places. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:30, 13 August 2024 (UTC)

In this edit [1] and accompanying edsum you claim that I have failed to assume good faith and that SN agrees with that assessment. Both are false. You ought to retract that. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 15:18, 6 September 2024 (UTC)

Nope. 7&6=thirteen () 16:10, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
Yep. Also, you're violating your topic ban (unless it's been rescinded and I missed it, in which case accept my apologies). I've mentioned it at ANI. ― "Ghost of Dan Gurney" (talk)  16:43, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
There is no applicable topic ban. This is not an AFD. You are wrong!
I corrected an inaccurate statement, for which I apologize.
I am still waiting for Sirfurboy🏄 to retract his ad hominem attacks and apologize to User:Lightburst. 7&6=thirteen () 16:57, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
Would you please provide a diff of this ad hominem. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 16:58, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
"Broadly construed" I assme to mean any discussion which results in potential for an article to be removed from public view of Wikipedia. In this case, the discussion is to merge Bent's Camp into Mamie Lake (Wisconsin) which would result in the Bent's Camp article being converted into a redirect (and thus, not in public view). ― "Ghost of Dan Gurney" (talk)  17:00, 6 September 2024 (UTC)

span> 16:43, 6 September 2024 (UTC)

There is no applicable topic ban. This is not an AFD. You are wrong! You need to retract what you alleged at AFD.
Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 17:06, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
I hope we can all take a break. 7&6 helped add RS to the article and it is not a deletion matter regarding a merge discussion. Sirfurboy I know you to be a conscientious editor and I know that your efforts here are not adversarial. I disagree with your assessment but I thank you for it. Lightburst (talk) 17:10, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
I have for years avoided AFDs. Your broad inferred "construction" is not supported by the express terms of the topic ban. Nulla poena sine lege. I am done with that discussion in any event. 7&6=thirteen () 17:17, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
7&6 has made an accusation of something I do not recognise. ad hominem attacks are something I studiously avoid. I would like to understand why 7&6 believes I have made such an attack, and if there is a misunderstanding it can be resolved. Then we can happily take a break. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 17:18, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
@Sirfurboy: I will apologize to you. I hope we all go into the weekend unblocked and unharmed by controversy. This is just a small camp in Wisconsin and discussing it should not get us all fired up. Remove the off-wiki banter and this article would gleefully exist - occasionally folks would click it and maybe add to it. I think it may be best for me to go off WP now. Thanks for considering Sirfurboy🏄. Lightburst (talk) 17:25, 6 September 2024 (UTC)

I apologize to User:Sirfurboy. I was wrong. The Ad hominem attacks are here:

Yo Sirfurboy, sorry to bring the news, but none of us got those pings I'm afraid, as they need to be attached to a signature to work. Thanks for this discussion though. I agree with merge and note that even this so-called parent article reminds me very much of one of Lightburst's greatest efforts, that of the ill-famed Bachelor Lake (he didn't write the article, but he managed to bludgeon the AfD back to the Stone Age before moving into complete clusterfuck territory. SNAFU, my dear fellow. Now about those pings... SerialNumber54129 12:53, 6 September 2024 (UTC)

Today is Schoenberg's 150th birthday! On display, portrayed by Egon Schiele, with a DYK hook from 2010 and another from 2014, about his 40th birthday, appeared on his 140th birthday. - See places for a stunning sunrise, on the day Bruckner's 200th birthday was celebrated (a few days late). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:34, 13 September 2024 (UTC)

Clarification request closed

The arbitration clarification request in which you were a party has been closed and archived. The rough consensus of participating arbitrators was that:

  • Proposed deletions and contesting proposed deletions are covered by topic bans on deletion discussions.
  • Merge discussions are not deletion discussions, but you should tread lightly so as not to continue behaviors that lead to your topic ban from deletion discussions. Notability tags are similar to merge discussions.

October music

story · music · places

My story today is about a composer and choir conductor, listen to his Lamento. - My story on 13 October was about a Bach cantata. As this place works, it's on the Main page now because of the date (but Bach wrote it for the 20th Sunday, not the Tuesday after the 21st Sunday after Trinity). I sort of like it because today is the birth date of my grandfather who loved and grew dahlias like those pictured. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:28, 22 October 2024 (UTC)

Happy whatever you celebrate today, - more who died, more to come, and they made the world richer. Greetings from Madrid where I took the pic of assorted Cucurbita in 2016. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:46, 31 October 2024 (UTC)

November music

story · music · places

For a surprise, a Bach cantata is on the Main page today, where it was last year for the 300th anniversary, and they were too lazy to find something new ;) - Look at my story, and listen to the 3 whole-tone steps and the dialogues of Fear and Hope. - An open letter open to be signed (more info on the talk), - I haven't checked if you did, please ignore then. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:17, 7 November 2024 (UTC)

Thank you. I just reached my 17th anniversary here. Even as I have faded from participation. 7&6=thirteen () 01:12, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
Congratulations! I uploaded new pics. Today's story relates to 2 meanings of 9 Nov, - imagine: I found a DYK I liked from 2006, before my time here. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:50, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
I uploaded more pics, on a mountain in the sun above the fog. - Madeleine Riffaud - remember. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:53, 11 November 2024 (UTC)

Defunct List of Department Stores

Hey there! I just wanted to clarify that I am revising an addition you made to the Defunct list of department stores page, as you listed Kmart and Sears roebuck as Defunct, whereas both still have operable locations under Transformco property management. This is not a problem, as I have had to remove them from the list twice before haha, its a common mistake. Thanks!

Michael 104.251.245.227 (talk) 00:51, 12 November 2024 (UTC)

If they exist, it ia no longer in the form of a bricks and mortar department store. That they may have died and were transmuted into something else (on a much smaller scale) doesn't make them not defunct. 7&6=thirteen () 16:56, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
Here is the KMart reference.[1]
Here is the AI answer (without the links and references) from Google generated today:

The last Sears store in New York City closed on November 24, 2021. As of September 2024, there are nine Sears stores remaining, with eight in the mainland U.S. and one in Puerto Rico.

Here are some other key dates in the history of Sears:

2018: Sears filed for bankruptcy

2019: Eddie Lampert's hedge fund bought Sears out of bankruptcy and renamed its parent company Transformco

2022: Sears closed the last four Sears Hometown stores in Michigan

Sears is now focusing on e-commerce with its Sears Marketplace offering.

Hope that addresses your concern. Happy editing. 7&6=thirteen () 17:11, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
