Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, please do not add promotional material to articles or other Wikipedia pages, as you did to Git (software). - Thanks for your response. Yes I see that Mercurial has a similar section, but I will probably remove that too. There are lots of guides etc for prominent software packages: Wikipedia cannot list them all and should not appear to be promoting one or two in favour of others.
- I see nobody has welcomed you yet, I will add a standard welcome after this post. Here are a few specific comments:
- Please always sign your talk page entries with ~~~~
- Normally we indent each new comment in a talk section with an additional colon, I've done that here as an example (we occasionally need to tweak another comment for clear formatting but we never actually change what someone else has written).
- Please always complete the edit summary, this will help other editors understand both what you have done and why
- If an edit has been reverted, please don't just restore it without comment, that is never going to work! In this case you could have, for example, started a section on the article's talk page after the first reversion. See WP:BRD for details of how that can work.
