R.J Anderson (born April 16, 1986 in Lino Lakes, Minnesota) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman currently with the Lake Erie Monsters organization of the American Hockey League.
Playing career
[edit]R.J. Anderson was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 4th round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft as the 101st overall draft pick. He chose to go to college and in 2005 he enrolled at the University of Minnesota. In 2006, the Golden Gophers won the WCHA championship and made it to the NCAA Division I Playoffs, but lost in the first round to Holy Cross[1]. In 2007, they again won the WCHA championship and made it to the NCAA Division I playoffs, but lost in the quarter-finals to North Dakota in overtime[2]. In 2008, they once again made it to the NCAA Division I playoffs, but lost in the first round to Boston College[3].
As he finished college in April of 2008 he was signed to a PTO with the Springfield Falcons of the AHL. That year he also played for the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL.
For the 2009-10 season, he re-signed Johnstown and played 27 games, but was traded in December of 2009 to the Elmira Jackals for the remainder of the season[4].
For the 2010-11 season, Anderson re-signed with Elmira and on November 4, 2010 he was loaned to the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL[5].
