Justinupike, is a Wikipedia account I created for myself, Justin Andrew Smith. I am a college freshman at the University of Pikeville, hence the "upike" in my username. This page was created not so much for pleasure purposes, more so because my Composition teacher requested we make it. I am a typical male in college, I spend most my time... well.. not studying, mostly playing video games, preferably of the PC (Computer) sorts. My life revolves around my friends, school work, League of Legends, and Diablo III (and its expansion Reaper of Souls). Not that you would care about the games I play, just should know that's how my time is spent.
My life: As if someone really cared.
[edit]I was born in Lexington, Kentucky. Which is where I lived with my mother, father, and my brother (names of them will not be disclosed). When I was about 4-5 years old we moved to the great town of Georgetown, Kentucky so my father could get to work, at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky. When I turned 8 my parents had a falling out, divorcing, where I spent time going in between houses, and my brother lived full time with my mother. Leaving poor little me to deal with the stress of keeping bother parents happy. Being young and seeing multiple men and women that I hadn't ever seen before talking to my parents was rough. When I was 12 years old, they both got remarried. My brother being 7 years older than me, graduated and got into drugs, where he moved to his dad's (we have different fathers) in West Virgina so he could get away with these problems. My life took HUGE changes, but not needed to know. I became interested in bowling when I was a freshman in high school, it was like an outlet for me. And from then on I was labeled a "bowler." I bowled for my high school team my junior and senior years, where we won state championship my junior year. I was offered a scholarship to the University of Pikeville to bowl. And with the help of my parents and motivation from everyone around me, I now attend Upike as a freshman bowler.

Sports
[edit]Now that my whole life was spilled, lets talk about sports I've participated in.
- Baseball from 8-16 years old
- Bowling from 14 years old-
- Football from 8-9 years old (that's a whole new, funny story to talk about.)
- Basketball from 8-13 years old (this was just a joke in my athletic career.)
These sports were really just to get closer to my dad. Being away from him half the time, he wanted more time with me, so he coached me in every sport I've played.

My video game addictions
[edit]Like I stated above, I spent majority of my time behind my computer screen relentlessly pounding at my keyboard and mouse killing demons and witches. I have well over 500 hours of time into my Diablo III account, 300 hours on one character in particular. And when it comes to League of Legends I have something like 800 hours into the game in general. Actually I spend at least 5-7 hours a night playing either game. I play more than just those two of course, I have a PlayStation 3 as well as a Xbox 360, where I play Call of Duty series. But besides that, the only real use that I get out of my PS3 or Xbox is Netflix.

Technology: My Silver Lining
[edit]I've always been around computers and other sorts of technology. My dads favorite hobby while I was growing up was taking computer parts, and constructing them from the ground up. I had access to a computer in my 1st grade year, where we had a computer information class, which we learned the basics of searching for information on the internet, and typing. My own personal computer was given to me by my father when I was 8 or 9, due to the divorce, trying to make me happy. From that time on I spent a lot of my time on or around a computer.
With the divorce of my parents, I had to be home alone a lot of the time after school, in 5th grade I was given my first cell phone. It was one of those Nokia bricks, and I didn't use it for anything besides playing this little parachute game. A year later I was given a Motorola Razr, it was the original black and that was used to call people from time to time and playing games as well. When I was in 8th grade, my dad gave me a first gen iPhone where my life of socializing via cell phones began. That was the first time I was allowed to text, I was only doing a few texts a month. But now, being an 18 year old in college, I send multiple thousands of texts a month, and with the ability to acess social medias on cell phones, I do that as well, the usual: Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram all while using my iPhone 5.
Back to computers, in 7th grade, computers saved my life. Personal life story ensues from this, but not of importance in this situation. But with all the time I've spent around computers, I've developed my own preferences in the technological world of computers. First; PC, all day. I love Apple Inc. for their phones, but the laptops and desktop are complete jokes. Their OS (operating system) is so close to the Microsoft/Windows system that it is almost sickening to me to use an Apple product, besides the iPhone. And when it comes to the debate between Laptop or Desktop computers, Desktop wins everyday when it comes to gaming or traditional usage. However, when it comes to school work, and business work, I would pick a laptop any day, the versatility and portability of laptops make them just so much more ideal to use for work environment.

Wikipedia: The Devil's Playground
[edit]Let me start with an apology. I am sorry to anyone associated with Wiki and the people who disagree. Yes, wiki can be a wonderful place for very informative articles. However, the people within this website can be sick, and cruel people. Pages about normal things, such as high school pages are able to be vandalized and have obscenities written all over them. It isn't just school pages, you see this in a huge number of pages. One that I can name off the top of my head is an incident with a page of a popular TV show named: Tosh.0. In this, the host, Daniel Tosh, asked viewer to go on there and create the page, and expand it. Little did anyone know, that some of these viewers were going on there to be "trolls" (internet bullies, critics to nothing, and just rude individuals.) With this going on Wiki was able to delete and lock this page rather quickly, but regardless this was done by a vast majority of people without accounts and the lack of information about them, so there was no punishment.
Wikipedia, is a wonderful place, with it's own dark corners. But like any situation like this it can be stopped. I have edited a page without the use of an account, but it was for my high school, and to add that my bowling team had won a few things. But there are people doing that same thing, but in malicious ways, so I just think that wiki would be a much better place if you had to have an account, and blank word minimum on your page that tells about you and some background. I believe this website could lose it's title I have given it as, "The Devil's Playground," if and only if they add these or similar restrictions to who can edit pages.
