Pi Gamma Phi, (ΠΓΦ) abbreviated as PGP, is a Philippine Inter-collegiate, university and community fraternity and sorority founded on September 27, 1975 at Francisco College “Kiko” Taft Avenue, Malate, Metro Manila, Philippines. It is one of the known fraternal organization in the Philippines with multiple Chapters in state colleges, universities and communities. As of 2020, the organization has 74 recognized Chapters in 3 Regional Councils under Pi Gamma Phi Consejo Nacional International Incorporated and still growing in numbers.

It was established by three founding father namely; lord Ysmael “Leamsy” Ulanday, lord Enrique “Eric” Gomez and lord Henry Pesimo. The founders made an agreement to call every member of Pi Gamma Phi as GAMMA SIGMA means brothers and sisters in PI GAMMA PHI.

Together with active founding father Henry Pesimo with the support of some of his batchmates, elders, and representatives from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, the CONSEJO NACIONAL INTERNATIONAL immerge. The Pi Gamma Phi (ΓΣ) Consejo Nacional International Incorporated was designed in order to form a centralize system as overall governing body of PI GAMMA PHI 1975. It is the only Council approved and was created together with the active founding father Henry Pesimo registered in Securities and Exchange Commission[1] with Registration Number CN201823947.

Brief History PI GAMMA PHI 1975 (Gamma Sigma) International Fraternity and Sorority came from the combined ideas of the three founding fathers who where a former members of other fraternities.

PI — came from founder Ysmael Yulanday who was a former member of Pi Beta.

GAMMA — came from founder Enrique Gomez who was a former member of Tau Gamma Phi

PHI — came from founder Henry Pesimo who was a former member of Delta Phi Omega

Before they created/formed the PI GAMMA PHI (Gamma Sigma) 1975, they made an agreement to quit/dismember themselves first to their former fraternities. Therefore, PI GAMMA PHI (GAMMA SIGMA) 1975 has no relation or affiliation to their former fraternities.

Pi Gamma Phi has its own unique identity and characteristic embodied by the ideals of the three Founding Fathers where they used GAMMA SIGMA as the name of the individual member of Pi Gamma Phi. To elaborate, the Fraternity/Sorority name is PI GAMMA PHI and the member’s name is GAMMA SIGMA. To assure that the member is truly legitimate, the founders created only one (1) password.

Furthermore, active Founding Father Henry Pesimo added that the two Greek word GAMMA SIGMA created by the three founders serve as a code also to recognize as a true member of Pi Gamma Phi.

From Francisco College “Kiko”, the group went rapidly increases its population with enormous strength in and outside the school. It was then established more chapters in many Colleges/Universities and even Community/Barangay as well. The group did not just stay in Metro Manila but it went across Visayas, Mindanao and even Abroad. Currently, the Pi Gamma Phi continue to grow stronger and made a name itself as one of the Top fraternity/sorority in the Philippines.

Moreover, Pi Gamma Phi established good reputation throughout the country from their Good Deeds following the vision based on the letter by capital of tenets of PI GAMMA PHI 1975 GAMMA SIGMA. The organization has seven (7) Top Priorities and beautiful Core Values that inspire the members to do good. In addition, PI GAMMA PHI has also 12 Golden Rules which serve as the fundamental rules of the Pi Gamma Phi fraternity/sorority.

Aim The aim of Pi Gamma Phi 1975 (Gamma Sigma) is ‘’To Promote Brotherhood/Sisterhood and Unity with Others”.

Motto The Pi Gamma Phi 1975 (Gamma Sigma) inculcated the ideal guide of every members by this motto ‘’COOPERATION DO OR DIE, WE’LL STAND UNITED FOREVER”.

Fraternal Principles LUX (Light) — Light from God (The Ultimate Creator of all being, space, and existence) which was inmate of individual human being from moment of conception. The Light or Spirit of every member of Pi Gamma Phi 1975 Gamma Sigma that dwells within forces to do good. Like the burning fire that serves light during darkness. Amidst diversity the Light within encourage every member to promote brotherhood, sisterhood and unity with others. The same LIGHT illumined of every heart of the member as prime mover to love and minister our fellow brothers, sisters and to other people outside the vicinity of PI GAMMA PHI 1975 GAMMA SIGMA. As long as there is LIGHT the Pi Gamma Phi 1975 Gamma Sigma will never demise.

BONITAS (Goodness/Moral Excellence) — Pi Gamma Phi 1975 Gamma Sigma tolerates GOOD not evil. Goodness by means of sharing what members have to their fellow member, it could be talents, skills, knowledge, service, time, spirituality, idea, resources, presence or anything that could give benefit to the needy brothers and sisters, and for the betterment of the entire Fraternity/Sorority. The Inner Goodness that drove PI GAMMA PHI 1975 Gamma Sigma to become instrument of Leadership and Morality to the society.

UNITAS (Unity) — Together with one heart and mind, members unite themselves to commit and dedicate their lives for the good of their brothers and sisters and to other people. God Bless! PI GAMMA PHI 1975 GAMMA SIGMA.

Pi Gamma Phi Way of Life A Gamma Sigma member has been taught with the Fraternal Way of Life to be;

“SERVICE TO HUMANITY, SERVICE TO ENVIRONMENT, SERVICE TO THE POOR AND NEEDY”
