Herero Mall

This is a small informal business area situated in Katutura, Clemence KapuuoStreet Map (which is named after the chief of the Herero people of Namibia), Windhoek, Namibia. This area was initially used by the Paramount chief of the Herero as a meeting venue. Over the years small businesses started trading there. This became a very busy area and was a center of attraction"Herero mall the place to be" especially to the youth. Currently small businesses are mushrooming there. These ranges from shebeen to car wash businesses. The City of Windhoek wants to revamp this place and turn it into shopping complex, because of its great potential. But the local people are totally opposing this move.

The Herero mall has been under a lot of controversy, since it is both a security and a health hazard. There are no toilet facilities, thus the people who visit this informal has to relieve themselves where ever possible.
