Usage
[edit]This template can be used in combination with Redirect category shell or without. This is in accord with instructions found at Wikipedia:REDCAT.
- Use this template on any redirect from a title that is an emoji, whether or not it is included in the Unicode chart single emoji (i.e. ♥ uses this template).
- For emoji that are a single Unicode character, it should be paired with R from Unicode character.
- This does not include emoji with skin-tone modifiers, or country flags, which consist of multiple characters. 👩🏿🤝👨🏼, for example, is rendered as one character in most web browsers, but is composed of seven (this can be seen in the percent-encoded title of its article: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=👩🏿🤝👨🏼).
- For emoji which are a subset of another emoji (such as skin tone variations), use R avoided double redirect with the value being the base emoji.
When using Template:Redirect category shell
[edit]Redirect category shell may be used to add as many appropriate redirect categories as needed to a redirect. Add this redirect category to a redirect in the following manner:
#REDIRECT (target page name)

When used individually
[edit]#REDIRECT (target page name)
R from emoji
Optional parameters
[edit]Emoji name
[edit]The name of the emoji should be added using the |1=
parameter. This helps identify the emoji and also sort it by its name.
(name)

The |name=
comes from the CLDR and can be found in places such as: https://www.unicode.org/cldr/charts/44/annotations/americas.html
Flags
[edit]If the emoji is a flag, |flag=
should be set.

Examples
[edit]#REDIRECT (target page name)

#REDIRECT (target page name)
