Images in infoboxes

[edit]

The main infobox has a field for a second image. An IP editor is claiming there is a consensus not to use this field. If there were an obvious consensus it would be removed from the infobox. Can our IP editor please either link to the consensus discussion, or stop edit warring. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 17:12, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Except for Canadian airlines zero airline articles on this Wiki use this field - and it has been like this for the last 10 years I’ve been on here. For the sake of communality it should remain that way. There is no need for a single Ukrainian airline for having an aircraft image there. Best regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:A61:3AED:1301:D983:EEA9:4295:9ABC (talkcontribs)
The template instructions Template:Infobox airline specifically state: image2 - Filename of an image. Possibly an aircraft to demonstrate livery. Where is there any consensus to ignore the template instructions? The fact that other articles that use this template do or do not have images here is just WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. Mostly that shows that others should have an image as per the template instructions. - Ahunt (talk) 18:15, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
2001:A61:3AED:1301:D983:EEA9:4295:9ABC There is a consensus that images can be used in an infobox. See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Aviation/Archive 22#Aircraft images in airline infoboxes. I find your claim that you have been here 10 years unlikely as you don't know the difference between a policy and the documentation for a template. Things change on Wikipedia over time and editors don't always think they are better but some things are. In that case it mirrors real life.
