Planned Edits
[edit]Starting this week, I am going to be working on editing this article. Editing this article is a project for my Junior Composition English class at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Things I am planning on adding to the page are locations of post offices, emergency services offered in the county, utilities offered, local media, tourism, and zip codes of the county. All these things are included on other articles for major counties around Ohio. The article I am using as a sort of template is for Warren County, Ohio. I am open to suggestions from anyone on other things that need to be covered in the article. Allyleah817 (talk) 21:57, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
- Hi all, I just uploaded my article edits to main space. I left a trail of all edits I made in the article history. I added each section one at a time and left a detailed edit summary. Let me know if there are any fixes that I need to make! Thanks. Allyleah817 (talk) 21:16, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
- Hey @Allyeleah817:: in general your additions to the page are useful, expanding the amount of information available about the county. However, in part, I am a bit concerned with the overall substance of the edits: what information besides lists could you add about the county that would substantively impact the readers understanding of the county? For example, how could you take the list of educational institutions, and include more information about the quality of the schooling? Currently, the changes you have made largely reflect the point of view of the organizations promoting the county, the government and visitor's bureau, instead of providing information, ideas, and assessments from multiple expert opinions. For example, you could include the assessment of the schools based on the standardized testing at the county website for schools, which reflects a larger and more objective perspective. The quality of the information would be greatly improved if you expanded the qualitative assements and/or outside opinions that reflected information included in the article. Think creatively, looking for metrics, and assessments that you would expect entities like non-profits, state and federal governments to report about the county, Sadads (talk) 02:05, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
