Downtown Streets
[edit]It is unclear by what means "3rd and 3rd" can refer to multiple locations. Do the same street and avenue intersect each other multiple times? The grid system seems pretty clear to me. SiriusAlphaCMa 09:26, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
- Well, yes and no. The numbered streets fan out from Main Avenue. There are are two of each number on either side of Main and each were given different directions on either side of Shoshone Street. As an example 6th Avenue West becomes 6th Avenue South on the other side of Shoshone, while 6th Avenue North becomes 6th Avenue East on the other side of the grid. 6th Avenue West/South is parallel to 6th Avenue North/East but half a mile away from it. The numbered streets used to do something similar parallel to Shoshone Street but changing direction at Main Avenue.
- So, before the street names were changed there were actually four intersections of 3rd and 3rd: 3rd Avenue West and 3rd Street West, 3rd Avenue East and 3rd Street East, 3rd Avenue North and 3rd Street North, and 3rd Avenue South and 3rd Street South. On a map these intersections formed a diamond with each point a quarter mile or so from the next.
- To complicate the matter further, Main Avenue and Shoshone Street both have different directions on the each side of the street. For example, an address on Main Avenue East is directly across the street from an address on Main Avenue South. This situation remains the case to this day.
- The directional quadrants this system created may have made sense in theory, but in practice it could get confusing indeed. --Faustus37 19:44, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
Coat of Arms
[edit]The coat of arms we're using here is a bit outdated. The basic design is the same, but the city gave it a facelift a couple years ago. I'll keep an eye out for a replacement. --Faustus37 02:12, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

South Park
[edit]"A residential section in the southeast part of the neighborhood is locally noted for its high percentage of Hispanic residents and high crime rate." It sounds like they are making a connection between the Hispanic race and high crime rates. I don't like that. It doesn't sound credible or noteworthy, it sounds redundant. I'm going to delete it.
Ryan who?
[edit]I don't know who this Ryan Downs is (featured as a notable resident on this page and the Notable residents of Idaho page). I could find all of the unlinked persons in Notable residents of Idaho except for Ryan Downs. I can't find him on Google or imDb. And even being a lifelong resident, I've never heard of him. So unless someone can tell me who he is, I'm going to remove Ryan Downs from both pages because it smells like vanity to me. The beuks 18:41, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Twinfallsidahoseal.PNG
[edit]Image:Twinfallsidahoseal.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Crime Rate
[edit]I couldn't help but notice that according to the crime rate section that evidentally there half of the population of Idaho is sex offenders and live in Twin Falls according to information taken in 2010. I deleted that section. There is still some information claiming that the crime rate per capita is 50000 times above normal. I sincerely doubt that that is accurate, and the website given as a reference makes no such claims. This makes the whole thing seem iffy to me. T. G. Savage (talk) 21:34, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Economy Edit -- Canyon Crest Advertisement
[edit]I deleted the Canyon Crest information because it came across WAY too much like an advertisement for the company and it's source was the company website itself -- this is clearly a case of self-promotion. The justification in the economy section for Canyon Crest: "Because of a busy economy such a venue was demanded by an ever growing diverse class of residents brought on by job creation." This is laughable. There have existed large venues in Twin Falls for quite some time now (CSI, Ballroom, Red Lion), and the only thing new is dining along the rim.
Not just that, canyon rim development has been occurring for quite some time now and there was no reference to Best Buy, TJ Max, or even the Twin Falls Arts Center.
I don't have time right now, but I still think canyon rim development needs to be mentioned, thus I think incorporating ALL the development on the rim instead of promoting one (and linking to its website) would be best.

First live call-in radio show in the United States?
[edit]"Twin Falls had the first live call-in radio show in the United States." This could be very interesting and worth a "Did You Know.." entry on the homepage. Unfortunately, the Media section does not state when this was and the two sources "quoted" are a relative of the host (?) and a college freshman paper (?). Are there better materials that can support this statement? Cheers, Not Sure (talk) 10:32, 16 April 2019 (UTC)
Adding mayor political party
[edit]There is a reliable source stating the political affiliation of the mayor, Shawn Barigar, as a Democrat. We should add this to the Twin Falls infobox as the political affiliation of mayors are visible in other cities such as Boise and larger cities such as New York City, Houston, Chicago, etc.Iamreallygoodatcheckers (talk) 23:27, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
