[edit]This article references a Press article from 10 March 2011. The article itself is online, but the online version omits a photo with the following caption:
Saving grace: Structural bracing being placed on the Our City O-Tautahi building, while a statue of Robert Scott lies on its face.
The toppled Scott Statue is in the foreground of that photo. The body of the article that is online does not make reference to the statue. Schwede66 20:46, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Scott Statue → Statue of Robert Falcon Scott – WP:VAMOS says, "For portrait sculptures of individuals in public places the forms "Statue of Fred Foo", "Equestrian statue of Fred Foo" or "Bust of Fred Foo" are recommended, unless a form such as "Fred Foo Memorial" or "Monument to Fred Foo" is the WP:COMMONNAME. If further disambiguation is needed, because there is more than one sculpture of the same person with an article, then disambiguation by location rather than the sculptor is usually better. This may be done as either "Statue of Fred Foo (Chicago)" (typically preferred for North America) or "Statue of Fred Foo, Glasgow" (typically preferred elsewhere)." Disambiguation by location is not required at this time, unless editors feel the statue of Scott (which is one of many) in the Scott Monument means disambiguation would be helpful to users. --Another Believer (Talk) 22:50, 11 June 2020 (UTC)
- Support Statue of Robert Falcon Scott, Christchurch. It's a copy of the one in London. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:09, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
- Move to Statue of Robert Falcon Scott, Christchurch, per Necrothesp. Ham II (talk) 16:03, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
- Support If it's indeed a copy of a London statue, we might as well use disambiguation as suggested by Necrothesp. Schwede66 18:32, 19 June 2020 (UTC)

Restoration was completed 2017, the statue was unveiled a second time in a ceremony in its original location on 6 October.
I would readd some of the previous wording (because it reads as two sentences) or add a semicolon after 2017. "After restoration was completed in 2017,..." or "Restoration was completed 2017; the statue..." APK hi :-) (talk) 12:01, 24 November 2024 (UTC)- Yes, that is better. I've added the semicolon.

- #6 - "The statue portrays Scott in polar dress and facing north on the homeward journey when death overtook him and his companions. Again a plaque bears the names of the five men who died and includes a paragraph from Scott's farewell message." Maybe you can add some of these details, like Scott facing north and the plaque info.
