Memorial Cup bids

[edit]

The Kingston Frontenacs bid for the 2008 Memorial Cup did not meet minimum requirements, and did not make it past the first cut, where five of six bids were allowed to continue. In this sense, there was no real bid from Kingston

Statements that The Frontenacs plan to bid for the 2011 Memorial Cup are irrelevant to the KRSEC topic until such a bid materializes. People have also said that Rod Stewart will play here, so will The Killers, they say. Shall we include these borderline ridiculous statements as well?

You are obviously not aware that the 2008 Memorial Cup Bid was used as political pretense to get the facility approved. If you think that Kingston's laughable 2008 Memorial Cup pseudo-bid deserves mention, then we'll list ALL the pretentious schemes used by arena promoters to get the building erected in its current location. Much of these shenanigans are fully documented at http://kcal.ca.

Therefore, if we want this topic to reflect irrelevant abstractions at this level of detail, then it's going to be a very long topic.

I recommend we leave it to facts about the building, and not the ravings of its occupants, and not open the can of worms I think you don't realize exists here...

If you feel that the Memorial Cup was used as a political tool to get the building built, then it IS relevant even by your standards. I would urge you properly cite that in the article, rather than deleting it. Flibirigit 16:44, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

To reiterate, and emphasize: the Kingston Frontenacs never even made a presentation to the 2008 Memorial Cub bid committee. Therefore it is not appropriate, at this time, to simply selectively include this questionable trivia in the KRSEC topic. Just to try and solve this discussion, I personally do not view Memorial Cup bids to be notable enough to be considered.... we're not talking about an event the size of the Olympics or anything like that... now if there is some political motivations behind the failed bid that can be sourced, well I agree then with Flibirigit that it is relevent. Regardless, information about bids themselves is irrelevant seeing as how many OHL teams put in bids (and its a small league) when its the OHL's year to host the Mem Cup... By the way, Kitchener got in 2008, and over on this side of the province, we're happy to have it ;) Croat Canuck Say hello or just talk 02:09, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:KingstonRegionalSportsAndEntertainmentCentre2.jpg

[edit]

Image:KingstonRegionalSportsAndEntertainmentCentre2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Election

[edit]

Why is there no mention on how the LVEC/K Rock Centre was one of the key election issues for the City of Kingston in 2006? --Aleeproject (talk) 20:24, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is no mention of it because nobody has added it. I requested User:StevenBlack write something up about using the building as political tool, but nothing was contributed. Flibirigit (talk) 21:42, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's coming  :-) StevenBlack (talk) 15:21, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removal Of KCAL.ca

[edit]

I have removed the hyperlink for KCAL.ca removed from this page. The website has not been updated sense 2008 and is irrelevant now that the building has been built for 5 years. If the building was still in controversy I could see leaving it up, but now that it has been built. I really dont see a need for it. Furthermore, other link linking to the City Of Kingston website is dead so I removed that. --Striker1057 (talk) 02:50, 12 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Kingston and District Sports Hall of Fame

[edit]

The Kingston and District Sports Hall of Fame article was recently nominated for deletion. It was decided to merge it into this article instead. I have added a paragraph about the hall in the sports section of this article. The only sources that I could find were the official website but, since none of this material is likely to be questioned, perhaps this will suffice. Leschnei (talk) 14:01, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
