This text is simply copied from the Qatar Foundation home page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.33.158.121 (talk) 17:36, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If that's so, what happens next? Doesn't WP frown on such infringement? Wordreader (talk) 16:45, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This organisation is government funded and therefore not private, I'll edit that and if it's reverted this page would be obviously biased~. Dorkules (talk) 22:21, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"...a shirt sponsorship..." ?

[edit]

"Sponsorship:

On 10 December 2010 FC Barcelona announced it had agreed a shirt sponsorship deal with the Qatar Foundation..."

What does "a shirt sponsorship" mean? Please humor those of us who are not educated in financial dealings or the ways that foundations work. Thanks. Wordreader (talk) 16:48, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Qatar Foundation

[edit]

Thank you all for the feedback. For the first where the text was altered because of it being government-funded is not supported with a valid reference/article. The article referred to there is says that the Qatari Government funds citizens for free education, etc. but Qatar Foundation is a separate private, independent, non-profit and chartered organization founded in 1995 by decree of His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar. Some supporting facts here http://portal.www.gov.qa/wps/portal/topics/!ut/p/c5/rc5JdoJAFIXhtbiAWI8CCx3SBUEK6Tw0Ew4gvTTRBITVxyzAWe6_gPuhCL3qk6kuk-966JMbClBEYgIHLNA9d3EMcQ_a6bjbmSpmQQXkowC42G2WUVvb1WlWm6HQrqYnzFRWFhdahioVpe0DXHgwbjss5koXMTLIT0hOdSkkUjhqSEdReRvS16P_ZyAxvJkAyDwOXY7cvEchivi3Ookg7_90ddpt56zbwpZluD0cgOExj1mWZZAfhfNTftBSFqTYLpNpDswCOrvhxOQSfpq1Y91556bi9CvjSf5sR1Ilx0ESpiJ7GkEPbalak6Wc_dOgzGf5QtLMHsSrH96DVQyLJMLL3VVIB9j4kfrKsHXfja2uAmP1dHXORMYcdeZ6EK0l2-Exh6bKPq5xyHtALfyYNTHboLGb2n42CypsNr9LN220/?highlightQuery=qatar foundation

Can the Wikipedia community please change that text because this is a bias comment and clashes with Wikipedia's NPOV policy.

Dear Qatar foundation,

[edit]

There is an obvious difference between the assertions in the article I referred to and the article you are using from the Qatari government to say that QF is a private organization. My article is from the U.S. State department wherein the QF is described as "Government-supported" and various QF human rights organizations such as 'Qatar Foundation for Combating Human Trafficking,' 'Qatar Foundation for Protecting Women and Children' and 'Qatar Society for Rehabilitation and Special Needs' are all described as "quasigovernmental human rights organizations." Furthermore, the 'Qatar Orphan Foundation', which is named as part of QF by various sources through Dhreima, is clearly named as "Government-funded" by the U.S. State Department. Now, I would have no problem in saying that neither article is purely objective, seeing as they are both from governmental sources. But the article as it is right now does not reflect the clearly vague privacy situation of the QF. I will therefore change the article to include this. Any further discussion on this is welcome. QF

[edit]

Yes, QF is private and not government funded. The Qatar e-government portal clarifies that. Qatar Foundation, PR firms, and Wikipedia

[edit]

There is a disturbing assessment of how the QF's public relations firms have been managing the content on this article. How does this slip through the cracks at Wikipedia, but the OrangeMoody thing about articles that would have gotten a tiny fraction of this article's traffic... gets splashed all over the media. - 2001:558:1400:10:7D0D:A57:86AB:769F (talk) 18:00, 4 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I find it rather disturbing that there is not an ounce of content in this Wikipedia article that is critical of the Qatar Foundation, despite there being ample sources that suggest a few problems. Given the fact that Jimmy Wales will erase such criticisms of the Qatar Foundation as "trolling", I'm not sure it will do us any good to document these criticisms of the organization here, since they might well get erased (since the QF is a major donor to the Wikimedia Foundation). - Checking the checkers (talk) 12:32, 27 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Your rant about Qatar and clockboy Mohamed was trolling and you know it. You couldn't give a rat's ass about Qatar. МандичкаYO 😜 16:21, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Lengthy "list" sections without references

[edit]

There are multiple lengthy sections of this article that read like lists, which seem more there to promote the Qatar Foundation than to underscore the significance of the contents of the lists. Indeed, there is little to no outside referencing to document these lists. I suggest that these lists get sourced quickly, or they should be removed. - Checking the checkers (talk) 14:51, 27 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Certainly the lists could be converted into subsections with paragraphs. And they should definitely be referenced. I'll try improving the layout within the next couple days. Elspamo4 (talk) 20:14, 27 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
