pronunciation?
[edit]i always thought the fruit was pronounced MAM-e (everyone tells me that!) until i recently bought one at a latin wholesale farmers' market and the seller told me it was pronounced "MAH-may". clarification? 64.91.201.195 21:55, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

The picture at the top right of the article is not the mamey sapote but the mamee apple,Mammea americana. The picture at the bottom is correct. The sapote is elongated and the mamee apple is round. I know both these fruits very well.
