[edit]I do not know if this should be included, but WFAN reported yesterday that NYP was built on the grounds of the former home of the NY Highlanders (I think that was the name of the baseball team at the turn of the century). I think Howie brought it up during the Mets-Yankees game.
Actually, now that I think of it, this, IMHO, definitely should be included in a section re:Development of NYP...though this entry appears to be in a developing stage...best regards 66.234.33.7 (talk) 13:00, 13 June 2009 (UTC) (Howie brought it up 2009-06-12)
Sorry, this only pertains to the hospital on Broadway at about 168th Street, I think. I have not been there in over a year. 66.234.33.7 (talk) 13:03, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Belly dancing?
[edit]Anyone know what this is about? "Entertainments at the Allen include belly dancing, T'ai chi and needle art." --Wolf530 (talk) 22:16, 27 October 2014 (UTC)
Proposed deletions
[edit]This article is full of puffery, unsupported attributions, PR marketing copy direct from NYP content, not third party. The primary contributor is 140.251.197.17 which is a Cornell Weill IP address http://whatmyip.co/view/ip_addresses/2365310208/140.251.197.0_140.251.197.255 which I believe constitutes COI. It also for the most part conflates two actual hospitals, Columbia ( http://profiles.health.ny.gov/hospital/view/106811 ) and Cornell Weill ( http://profiles.health.ny.gov/hospital/view/102961 )
If I added too many tags I apologise, I believed I was doing it the right way. Here are my issues with this article:
- All of these issues are legitimate. I will go on fixing them straight away. (Note: I have split the below into subsections for ease in replying.) Epic Genius (talk) 20:10, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
Statement 1
[edit]1. "A major international and regional referral center, the hospital is considered among the best in the world and is currently ranked 6th in the United States and 1st in the New York City metropolitan area by U.S. News & World Report.[2]"
I propose that the first two statements are opinion, and should be deleted, leaving
"The hospital currently ranked 6th in the United States and 1st in the New York City metropolitan area by U.S. News & World Report (2015).[2]"
Statement 2
[edit]2. "It is a 2,478 bed hospital, making it one of the largest and most comprehensive hospitals in the United States.[1] "
Number of beds do not make a comprehensive hospital, the number of services do. (Further, the state body that regulates hospitals does not conflate the multiple bed counts into one). I propose changing to
"It is a 2,478 bed hospital, making it one of the largest hospitals in the United States.[1]"
I will gloss over the fact that this is a clever way to combine five hospitals, call it one hospital, and claim to be the largest.
- Done, reworded. Epic Genius (talk) 20:16, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
Statement 3
[edit]3. "New York–Presbyterian Emergency Medical Services (NYP-EMS) is the largest hospital-based ambulance service in the City of New York.[11]"
The reference listed is NYP saying NYP is the largest. This is self-referencing and does not constitute a valid source. I spent 30 minutes trying to obtain the relevant data or find a suitable reference for this claim, none was found. I propose deleting the sentence.
- Partly done, combined with another sentence. Epic Genius (talk) 20:16, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
Statement 4
[edit]4. "The NYPH system includes a variety of outlying hospitals that had previously been acquired by NYH or Presbyterian; these hospitals stretch throughout the five boroughs, Westchester County, Long Island and New Jersey. In the name of the hospital, there is no space in "NewYork"."
This sentence begins to speak about the system, then inexplicably makes a statement about the individual hospital's branding. I propose (a) linking to the NYPH System article ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NewYork–Presbyterian_Healthcare_System ) and (b) removing the branding statement (it's in the first sentence of the article already).
- Done, removed the last part of the statement. Also put {{main}}. Epic Genius (talk) 20:16, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
Statement 5
[edit]5. "It has an international operations department as well; in 2009, the hospital hired prominent medical researcher and vascular surgeon Kenneth Ouriel to head this department.[8][9]"
Is this truly notable? Is this particular surgeon truly prominent? Where is this department? What does it do? Why is it noteworthy? This sentence sounds like clear promotional content to me. Happy to hear other opinions. 69.124.77.178 (talk) 19:45, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
- Done, removed the statement Epic Genius (talk) 20:16, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
List of notable deaths
[edit]This subject has been discussed, and a consensus was reached that we don't do such lists. See Talk:Ottendorfer Public Library and Stuyvesant Polyclinic Hospital#Notable deaths. BMK (talk) 23:37, 23 November 2015 (UTC)
- Three people calling it trivia does not make a Wikipedia rule. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 04:26, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
- That was an RfC you started and which you then ignored the findings of. Since that's the case, I have started another one here. BMK (talk) 05:32, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
List of deaths on talk page?
[edit]Since there's a standing consensus against lists of notable deaths in hospital articles, and what seems to be a developing consensus against it as well in the new RfC, it does not seem proper for the list to be on the article's talk page either, since (1) the talk page is intended for discussions about how to improve the article, and (2) putting it on the talk page simply seems like a way to get around not being allowed to have it in the article itself. For these reasons, I have removed the list of notable deaths from this page. BMK (talk) 16:32, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Requested move 3 September 2020
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: moved to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital; no opposition here and support at related pages. Primefac (talk) 18:47, 3 October 2020 (UTC) Primefac (talk) 18:47, 3 October 2020 (UTC)
NewYork–Presbyterian Hospital → NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital – The reason for this request to rename and move this page is to correct spelling mistakes in the article title. The article title needs to have the dash removed and replaced with a hyphen. The hyphen, not the dash, is what's pictured in the official NYP Logo. - Comment: It depends on whether "NewYork" and "Presbyterian" are two separate modifiers. If they are not, then a move to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is in order. JIP | Talk 10:21, 11 September 2020 (UTC)

Please include Och Spine Hospital in Allen Hospital section
[edit]Mlinden92 (talk) 20:12, 19 January 2023 (UTC)
This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. |
- Please include the following after paragraph 1 in the Allen Hospital section: NewYork-Presbyterian Allen is also home to Och Spine at NewYork-Presbyterian, where a renowned team of orthopedic experts provides cutting-edge care for a full range of spinal conditions and disorders.
- 'The article section is missing mention of Och Spine Hospital, an integral part of Allen Hospital :

- Hi Mlinden92 thank you for your proposal; I have declined it in its current proposed form. Please reword the proposal to use neutral and non-promotional language. Specifically, words/phrases like "renowned team of orthopedic experts" and "cutting-edge care" do not meet this criteria. Additionally, please provide a reliable source to an independent, neutral, third-party source, rather than NYP's own website. I encourage you to use the {{cite news}} template, to include information such as access date, author name, publisher, etc. I am marking this request as addressed; to re-open it, remove the "|D" in the {{request edit}} template above..
