Dating the 3DVF interview

[edit]

The publication date for the 3DVF interview with Olivier Staphylas can be found here - [1] --Jpcase (talk) 16:45, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Imagina Fesival

[edit]

I chose not to include any mention of the 2006 Imagina festival in Monaco, even though it is among the festival's listed on the film's official website [2]. I chose to only include events for which I could find third-party references, or references directly published by the festival itself. I couldn't find any such references for Imagina, so that one got left out. --Jpcase (talk) 15:35, 26 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Other items from Official Website's "News" section

[edit]

I also saw no point in mentioning that the film was uploaded to pocketfilms.net or that it was made available to download from PlanetMG.com. The article already states that the film was made available "online", and I couldn't find any third-party references mentioning Le Building in relation to either of these specific websites. --Jpcase (talk) 15:38, 26 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have however, decided to make an exception to my alternative sourcing requirement, in the case of the Canal information. That a TV network picked up the rights to this film seems particularly noteworthy (considering that it's never had a wide home-media release). I haven't been able to find any third-party sources that discuss this fact, and while The Way Back Machine supposedly captured Canal's website on numerous dates in 2006 (https://web.archive.org/web/20060111060834*/http://www.canalplus.fr/), clicking on those dates only shows me a black screen. If anyone gets better results, then feel free to add a reference from that site. But I imagine that even if the site were displaying properly, it probably wouldn't contain a detailed list of all the shorts Canal had broadcasting rights for at the time. These kinds of minor business dealings probably don't go mentioned publicly very often - sure, some obscure trade publication, probably in French, *might* have commented on it, but locating that would be far beyond my abilities.
Still, I feel that this fact warrants discussion in the article. And we can source it - we just have to use the film's own website. Which, admittedly, isn't ideal. It would, of course, be ridiculous for anyone to fabricate a claim like this, but television broadcasting and film festival screenings carry similar positive weight for a short film - and in the interest of neutrality, it would be preferable to cite such information with a third-party source. As such, I feel that it was necessary to phrase the information in the manner that I've chosen, stressing in the text that the claim comes directly from the film's own website. --Jpcase (talk) 23:00, 26 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hybrid Animation

[edit]

I'm not an expert on the actual process of animation, and so understanding O'Hailey's discussion of multiplane camera movements was a little challenging for me. I did my best to add a generalization of what she said about Le Building, but someone who understands the matter better might want to make improvements, if necessary. Her comments can be found in the book Hybrid Animation: Integrating 2D and 3D Assets (2nd edition). Currently, a preview of this is available on Google Books, but you can also find her comments on this web page - [3] --Jpcase (talk) 14:15, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

IAMAG interview

[edit]

The webpage that contains the IA Mag interview with Theirry Marchand doesn't include any link to an About page for the website - as such, I had a little trouble determining whether IA Mag should qualify as a reliable source. A little Googling yielded this page though, which calls IA Mag an "international art magazine" and mentions that the publication holds an annual art and animation "master class" in Paris. This year's event appears to feature some pretty reputable speakers - e.g. Peter de Sève and Victor Navone. So I have no problem with using this IA Mag as a source. As for how I found out who conducted the interview and when (neither of which are specified in the IA Mag webpage), I was able to find those details here. --Jpcase (talk) 23:52, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
