First color broadcast

[edit]

KTVB's first color broadcast (and the first color broadcast in Idaho) was the Disney movie "Ida, the Offbeat Eagle", which was filmed on location in the State of Idaho. Many residents in the area purchased their first color televisions to watch it.

This should be in the article! I did extensive research for KTVB's 50th anniversary - and din't know that. Do you have a source? Boisemedia 20:22, September 8, 2005 (UTC)

If you're going to claim "several" former KTVB-TV journalists have gone on to attain national prominence, then you need to name somebody, in addition to Trace and Christy, who is working as a journalist in nationally prominent network news. Right now, the accurate count appears to be only two (2).

If you are going edit articles, you should learn how to properly do so (signing posts is a nice courtesy). Changed to "at least two," which is accurate -- and leaves open the possibility that my knowledge doesn't cover the entire world. Boisemedia 19:06, 2 October 2005 (UTC)

Inaccurate moves

[edit]

I've noticed a one-user crusade to move articles from the standard callsign to a new page with the "-TV" suffix. This is problematic since nearly all stations operate dual frequencies these days. (in this case, KTVB-TV & KTVB-DT). - 2005-12-25 04:01:45 Boisemedia

I also noticed this, and was miffed at first, however I have to a degree come arround. If the station's call sign is actualy KZZZ-TV, then the article should be named as such. I asked the user who renamed every station he could find if he would like to comment on a discussion we were having about such a move here: Talk:KTVX#KTVX_vs._KTVX-TV, he said that he didn't mind them being moved back, so I'm not quite sure why he moved them in the first place. The only real discussion we could find on the topic was found here: Wikipedia:WikiProject_Radio_Stations#Stations_with_call_signs, while not a policy by any stretch, it is logical. I am in the process of moving all of the Idaho stations that are -TV back to -TV, if you disagree with this choice, please bring it up either here or on my talk page. Also, please sign all of your comments with 4 ~'s, I had to check to see who I was responding to in the history of this page. A 07:44, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I don't really disagree with that line of logic. But since nearly all commercial and non-commercial television stations have both a digital and analog signal -- and there are not generally seperate Wiki articles, it makes sense to use the more netural KXXX versus KXXX-TV. Oh, and I've been off the Wiki grid for a while -- it still baffles me after thousands of edits that posts don't auto-sign (aka: I forgot) :) Boisemedia 00:54, 1 January 2006 (UTC)
I'm with you on the autosign thing, especially on talk pages. I raised that point as well, what about all of the sub channels for the digital signal? I think that if the digital station is different enough than the analog signal, then sure a separate page would be in order. However, 98% (number based on my experience) of the channels currently have the same programing on both the analog and digital signals. If anything they just tack on some extra kids channel or a live cam of the skyline, nothing worth a seperate article. Hey and remember, in a few years time all the station articles will be KXXX-DT. However for the time being, if the station's call sign is KXXX then have the article be named KXXX, if it is KXXX-TV then the article should be named KXXX-TV with either a disambig or a forward on the KXXX page. A lot of stations that are assigned KXXX-TV are that because there is, or was, a radio station of the same call letters. A 10:11, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Ktvb-pre1996.jpg

[edit]

Image:Ktvb-pre1996.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:05, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
