Io Resto in CalabriaI Stay in Calabria – When possible, articles on political parties should be named in English. It is better for readers to understand name at first glimpse. In this case, the English name is not controversial at all. --Checco (talk) 04:32, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. The proposed English name is not used in almost any source and does not even have a unique translation into Italian: it can be translated both in "Io resto in Calabria" and in "Io sto in Calabria". The name of this association is a quote from an Italian sentence from its leader, also on other occasions, the names of this type remain in the Italian language (I think of Diventerà Bellissima, for example). Moreover, it is not always true that "when possible, articles on political parties should be named in English", the same proponent opposed, for example, the move of a party's page that is mainly known by its English name, so there may be more than one reason to keep the original name or use its translation. I personally don't see the need to move this page in this case.--Scia Della Cometa (talk) 07:05, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. WP:UE does not mandate translation into English unless there is a commonly used English translation used in reliable English-language sources. That is not the case here. In addition, "I stay in Calabria" is not intuitive English. In English it would imply that the individual in question was on holiday in Calabria! And even then it would be poor English, although in Scottish dialect would it suggest the meaning of living in Calabria. So, contrary to the nominator's claim, it adds absolutely nothing to the meaning. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:32, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support out of preference for an English language title. As an alternative, "I Reside in Calabria" is a possible alternative.--Autospark (talk) 15:48, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak oppose. I see the arguments by Necrothesp, and I generally prefer to have original-language titles and names for parties which do not have a "classical" name (like "Liberal Party", "Social Democratic Party", "People's Party" etc). Indeed for the kind of party names as in the case of Io Resto in Calabria, usually the corresponding expression is better rendered in the original language and explained in the text. However WP:UE also states If there is no established English-language treatment for a name, translate it if this can be done without loss of accuracy and with greater understanding for the English-speaking reader. PS: why did no one propose "I Remain in Calabria"? --Ritchie92 (talk) 10:44, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
