Baron Palmeira
[edit]The line about Goldsmid being created Baron Goldsmid of Palmeira may be due to a "fuzziness" in the source. Sir Isaac Goldsmid, 1st Baronet puts the title as not English, but Portuguese (the family name is NOT used in describing such titles). There does not seem to be such a title as "Baron Goldsmid" in the peerage, but that is hardly my area of specialty.
Glad to see this article. I was hoping you'd write it when I saw the pic. It's such a striking building! Circéus (talk) 17:25, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
- It is a lovely building – well worthy of being awarded listed status, in my view. Maybe that will happen one day...! I'll have a look in some of my other Hove sources to see if anything more is said about Isaac Goldsmid. The Encyclopaedia of Hove and Portslade probably has a piece about the family.
