COI tag
[edit]I have added the COI tag after User:MarkWriter objected to another editor's changes to pages relating to Torchmark Corporation subsidiaries, in this edit [1] stating:-
- Each of our Companies are trademarked, wholly-owned subsidiaries of Torchmark Corporation. These pages were written by English-degreed Company employees for adherence to our Company Style Guide and brand consistency, and have been approved by our legal team. If further edit warring occurs, we will block you from editing our Wikipedia pages.
This is clearly a self-confessed WP:COI situation, and an attempt to WP:OWN these articles. Arjayay (talk) 15:09, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
Edit Needed
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. The reviewer would like to request the editor with a COI attempt to discuss with editors engaged in the subject-area first. |
I have a COI and need an edit made. Torchmark's subsidiary, First United American Life Insurance Company, recently changed its name to Globe Life Insurance Company of New York. The page for GLNY has been updated and now we need this page to be updated as well. Subsidiaries: Please change "First United American Life Insurance Company" to "Globe Life Insurance Company of New York". History: Please add, "In 2017, First United American Life Insurance Company recently changed its name to Globe Life Insurance Company of New York."[1]

Follow-up on Edit
[edit]Part of an edit requested by an editor with a conflict of interest has been implemented. [See below] |
I have a COI and wanted to open the discussion about the previous edit requested by Corey Jones on 1/30/17. We would happy to provide any additional information that might be needed to update the subsidiary section if we can. Please just let me know what is needed.
In the Subsidiaries Section:
Update "First United American Life Insurance Company" to "Globe Life Insurance Company of New York".
Note: The new subsidiary page on Wikipedia has already been updated with the new name https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Globe_Life_Insurance_Company_of_New_York and this First United American link links to it. The Torchmark subsidiaries page has also been updated https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Torchmark_Corporation_Subsidiaries with the new name, so we are just hoping to make the information consistent and less confusing on this page.
In addition, I located another Torchmark subsidiary Wikipedia page that can be added to this section:
National Income Life Insurance Company https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Income_Life_Insurance_Company, Rochester, New York https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rochester,_New_York
In the History Section:
Please add, "In 2017, First United American Life Insurance Company changed its name to Globe Life Insurance Company of New York."[1]
Thank you. Laurettashokler (talk) 22:17, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

[edit]Edit request partially implemented
- Wiki-Links to articles whose titles have changed were given these new titles but the Wiki-Links themselves were not altered, per WP:NOTBROKEN.
- As the title for First United American has been changed to Global Life (and there is no longer anything in the article described as First United American) a description of this change later on the prose would be needlessly confusing.
- Duplicate Wiki-Links were omitted per MOS:OVERLINK, WP:LINKCRISIS

In the Subsidiaries section of this page, the Family Heritage Insurance Company of American, McKinney, Texas entry is out of date.
Family Heritage is now named Globe Life Family Heritage Division. (Here is a link to our Timeline Post about it: https://www.globelifefamilyheritage.com/About/History#tl2019 and the updated website: https://www.globelifefamilyheritage.com/.)
That subsidiary has always been located in Cleveland, OH. (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Globe Life Family Heritage Division/@41.3193955,-81.6470387,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x72c1fe331b91dfef!8m2!3d41.3193955!4d-81.64485)

- Name updated. I left out the location as I thought it wasn't necessarily relevant and is only visible in some mailing locations. – Thjarkur (talk) 00:09, 19 December 2019 (UTC)

Updates to Subsidiaries
[edit]I have a COI since I work for Globe Life
This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
In the Subsidiaries section, please remove Globe Life of New York, Syracuse, New York. It is actually a subsidiary of United American Insurance Company instead of Globe Life. [1]:
Please change the subsidiary named Liberty National Life Insurance Company, McKinney, Texas to be Globe Life Liberty National Life Division, McKinney, Texas [2]

- There is already a redirect in place from the base second level domain to that third level domain, so the current URL works and will keep on working when you update your site next time. Seems fine to keep it as is. – Thjarkur (talk) 19:12, 24 September 2020 (UTC)

Key people Gary Coleman and Larry Hutchison (CEO) should be replaced with Matthew Darden (CEO) & Frank M. Svoboda (CEO) [1]

- @Laurettashokler:, I looked at the request but prior to determining inclusion (or removal of the first portion already there), I have a couple questions as I would like to clean up the history to more of a prose entry. Is there anything on the company website showing a timeline? The history section is confusion when it states "TMK" and then other companies. Need to determine who acquired who and under which name so I can look for sources and write something more accurate and less confusing. Prior to doing the research on my own, do you know of any in-depth relible sources that talk about the history of the company? Anything that has a lot of information and can be used to cite the history section would be helpful. You can ping me here if you are able to provide the answers. I want to tackle that prior to addressing NPOV issues (which it looks like there are some on the page currently). --CNMall41 (talk) 22:37, 31 October 2024 (UTC)

- @CNMall41:,
I could not find any 3rd party sources that have a lot of detail on our name change and previous acquisitions, but I am providing links to 4 pages of our consumer and investor website pages that might be helpful:
1. https://home.globelifeinsurance.com/about#history (Has a timeline of the company and its acquisitions)
2. https://investors.globelifeinsurance.com/about-globe-life (Lists the subsidiaries of Globe Life)
3. https://investors.globelifeinsurance.com/news-releases (Includes press releases that we issue related to the Globe Life stock and major company changes.
4. This press specific release was issued when Torchmark switched to Globe Life Inc in August 2019: https://investors.globelifeinsurance.com/news-releases/2019/august/torchmark-corporation-has-officially-been-renamed-globe-life-inc)
If there is a specific topic you would like me to look for resources about, just let me know.
