Context

[edit]

The introduction to this article provides insufficient context for those unfamiliar with the subject. It is not clear whether the article is about the village, a pilgrimage site near the village or the rituals performed at the pilgrimage site. A Google search for "Falgu Tirath" [1] comes up with nothing except the link to this article on the creator's page. I originally thought the article was about the village, but I am now coming to the conclusion that Tirath means something like "temple" and so the article is about the pilgrimage site. The second reference [2] doesn't seem to support the sentence to which it is attached as it does not mention Falgu. Jll (talk) 22:13, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry if i have hurt you. Your comments are very good since the article does not clarify regarding the village or temple or what. Tirath means holy pilgrimage and Falgu is a village wherehindus go on pilgrimage to do Pind Daans. The Pind Daans are offering made by Hindus to liberate their forefathers of any sins made and to have their blessings. The second reference basically relates to the ceremony of the Pind Daan. I think you can help in upgrading the article. Sanjivdogra (talk) 06:56, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sanjiv, no worries. Your excellent explanation and changes to the article have made it very much clearer for me, thank you. I can see that the article is a useful addition to Wikipedia, and much more significant than just a small settlement. Best wishes, Jll (talk) 08:40, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
