Proposed merge with M16 (rifle)

[edit]

Against. Gene Stoner deserves a separate page simply because the AR-15/M16-series are not his only inventions. --D.E. Watters 04:40, July 19, 2005 (UTC)

Very true

AR-18

[edit]

Stoner, stung by reliability complaints due to the AR-10 and AR-15's direct impingement gas operation, turned his attention to the AR-16 design. This was another advanced 7.62 mm rifle, but using a "traditional" pushrod operation and a number of stamped parts to reduce cost. This weapon saw only prototype development, but after adaptation to .223, would go on to have some success (and notoriety) as the Armalite AR-18.

Patently untrue, the Direct Impingement patents were sold to Colt, and Armalite didn't want to license them from Colt. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.40.171.106 (talk) 15:44, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

meeting with Kalashnikov

[edit]

I think this article should mention his supposed rivalry and eventual friendly meeting with the Russian designer of the AK-47 ||||||||||||||||||||||||| (talk) 20:12, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Photo... Gravestone?

[edit]

This is probably the only wiki article I've ever read that has a gravestone as the person's featured photo. Surely there is a CC photo available somewhere. I might even argue that no photo at all would be better than a gravestone. 206.125.57.226 (talk) 17:51, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Eugene Stoner

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Eugene Stoner's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 09:03, 2 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
