date of birth
[edit]His date of birth differs from the one at Find-A-Grave. Lincher 14:08, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
I have changed the birth date to 1739. Findagrave says 1739, the Kentucky Encyclopedia says 1739 (probably April), and the Kentucky Department of Libraries says April 1739. Lamont A Cranston 18:02, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

Typo?
[edit]I'm translating this article to Chinese, now got this:
- "As tensions between the U.S. and Great Britain escalated in the wake of the June 22, 1806, Chesapeake–Leopard Affair,"
Is this a typo as Chesapeake–Leopard Affair occurred at June 22, 1807?--Jarodalien (talk) 06:48, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
- @Jarodalien: Just double-checked the source, and it is indeed a typo. Thanks for the catch. I changed it. Acdixon (talk · contribs) 15:15, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for the follow up. BTW, translation done about an hour ago, personally I feel this one is a little bit rely on one source, but still a fine article.--Jarodalien (talk) 16:26, 26 September 2016 (UTC)

Birthplace
[edit]So where was he born then? --MarchOrDie (talk) 06:42, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
- @MarchOrDie: Does this refer to the mismatch between the text and the infobox? The text is almost verbatim what is said in the Dictionary of American Biography. The Kentucky Encyclopedia confirms "present-day Powhatan County". Not sure where Cumberland County came from. I want to make sure I am trying to fix the right issue before I make changes. Acdixon (talk · contribs) 17:12, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
- Yes. Rather surprising that the article made it to the Main Page with this inconsistency. --MarchOrDie (talk) 19:44, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
- @MarchOrDie: Thanks for catching this. I'm not sure where the mention of Cumberland County came from, but I've corrected the infobox to be consistent with the article, which is well-cited. Acdixon (talk · contribs) 14:34, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

Correction of dates: Charles Scott, Esquire was commissioned the rank of Major General Sept 13, 1783 by an Act of Congress according to an original document I hold.
