Why are we so high and mighty, have you all forgotten about the bombing of Dresden which was purposefully aimed at a civilian population?!!! 78.146.3.138 (talk) 23:34, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Dresden wasn’t a war crime, it was a strategic bombing target. At the time of the bombings Dresden had a high concentration of soldiers in the area as well as one of the last functioning rail lines leading to the eastern front. Therefore meaning it was a valuable area for the RAF to attack. Another important thing to note is that the estimated death toll was only about 3,000 to 3,500, you frequently hear of this massive death toll however that has been disproven because the death toll was inflated by Goebbles to make the British seem like horrible savages that would bomb a civilian target. 2600:6C5D:5100:AB2:34BF:4F3:7FFA:EED1 (talk) 08:06, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The bombing of Dresden has been politicised by Holocaust deniers and pro-Nazi apologists—most notably in British writer David Irving's The Destruction of Dresden—in an attempt to establish a moral equivalence between Nazi war crimes and the killing of German civilians by Allied bombing raids.[106]
adding this section to the bombing of dresden is out of place. If Wikipedia editors really want to be neutral, this adds undue weight to an anti-german perspective. Not all Germans were Nazis in the 1930s-40s. Ignoring the atrocities of one faction but condemning the actions of another makes this article biased. I dont have much wiki skill to edit this but if anyone of you understands nuance you could make this better. 2600:100F:B1A6:FEE8:0:5:2701:5B01 (talk) 00:32, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Vichy France isn't recognized as a legitimate state by the French, who assert that the Free French forces aligned with the Allies (and which at times, fought against Vichy) are the true French government during this period. So there isn't really anyone around now to assert that this was a violation of neutrality. Fangz (talk) 09:44, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
