Title
[edit]Deansfa (talk · contribs) I suggested the title 2023 collapse of the rue Tivoli in Marseille to parallel the title of the other article 2018 collapse of the Rue d'Aubagne? Marseille building collapse is clearly not precise enough, it could equally refer to the collapse of the building of the rue d'Aubagne. --Lewisiscrazy (talk) 09:27, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Lewisiscrazy (talk · contribs). Several things:
- Per WP:USEENGLISH, we don't "parallel" the title from the French Wikipedia, because the French titles of both article have a regional bias. 2018 collapse of the Rue d'Aubagne is actually problematic because it's totally obscure and not self-explanatory for an English user, and the English sources for this event mentioned Marseille building collapse. A better title would be: 2018 Marseille building collapse.
- In most articles about this event, "rue Tivoli" (which is actually wrong, it's literaly "rue de Tivoli") is mentioned but the event is clearly known as "Marseille building collapse". Look at the sources.
- "collapse of the rue XXX" is confusing, it can be interpreted as the collapse of the street (which is not in both cases). I would avoid those in English.
- My proposal would be: 2023 Marseille building collapse fro this article and 2018 Marseille building collapse for 2018 collapse of the Rue d'Aubagne. This current page can become a disambiguation page. Thoughts? --Deansfa (talk) 13:29, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Deansfa. I am fine with 2023 Marseille building collapse. And also OK to change the other title to 2018 Marseille building collapse. Many sources using the title "Marseille building collapse" were published in 2018, eg https://www.google.com/search?q=Marseille building collapse before:2019, so clearly the indication of the year is now needed. --Lewisiscrazy (talk) 16:11, 14 April 2023 (UTC)

- Deansfa what is amazing? --Lewisiscrazy (talk) 10:11, 15 April 2023 (UTC)
- It's something some people say when things works well (I may have anticipated a 300-lines discussion about this renaming. You know how Wikipedia can be sometimes). --Deansfa (talk) 19:06, 15 April 2023 (UTC)
- Good then. I imagined it was sarcasm, sorry. -- Lewisiscrazy (talk) 22:13, 15 April 2023 (UTC)
