Konoka Matsuda (Japanese: 松田好花, Hepburn: Konoka Matsuda, born April 27, 1999)[1] is a Japanese singer, actress, television presenter, and radio personality. She is a member of the girl group Hinatazaka46.
Early life
[edit]Matsuda trained in classical ballet from the age of three until she joined Hiragana Keyakizaka46. She was also a member of the taiko club and started playing the guitar in a band in high school.[2]
Career
[edit]On August 13, 2017, Matsuda joined Hiragana Keyakizaka46, now Hinatazaka46, and entered the group as a second generation member.[3] Before joining the group, she was a fan who attended Nogizaka46 and Keyakizaka46 handshake events.[2] Her catchphrases include "I love nattō, I'm Konoka Matsuda" (納豆大好き! 松田好花です, Nattō daisuki! Matsuda Konoka desu)[2][4] and "Yahhossu~".[5] She is one half of the guitar duo subgroup Hana-chans with Suzuka Tomita, and have released their first song as part of Hinatazaka46's third single.[6]
From 2019 to 2020, Matsuda served as co-host for several subjects on NHK Educational TV's High School Course program.[7][8][9] She was a co-host for the TBS Television morning show Love It! from August to September 2021.[10][11] She was also appointed support ambassador for DAZN's AFC Asian Cup qualifications "Road to Qatar" campaign which ran from August 2021 to March 2022, along with fellow Hinatazaka46 members Mei Higashimura and Yūka Kageyama.[12] In October 2021, Matsuda started her first self-titled solo radio program, Hinakoi presents Hinatazaka46 Konoka Matsuda no Hinatazaka Kōkō Hōsō-bu (ひなこい presents 日向坂46 松田好花の日向坂高校放送部) on Nippon Broadcasting System,[13] which regular listeners are called "Little Yahosu" (リトルヤホス).[5] In October 2022, she was appointed regular co-host for The Time, another TBS morning show.[14]
Matsuda's first photobook, titled Furimuite (振り向いて, lit. 'Looking Back') and photographed mainly in Vancouver, was released by Kodansha on May 28, 2024. It sold 51 thousand copies in its first week and placed first on the Oricon Weekly Book Ranking that week;[15] at the end of the year, it placed seventh and second on the annual photobook and annual solo female photobook rankings, respectively.[16][17] On August 10, her first self-titled television show, Hōsōsakka Matsuda Konoka (放送作家松田好花, lit. 'Broadcast Writer, Konoka Matsuda'), about her efforts to create an original television program, started airing on TV Tokyo.[18]
Personal life
[edit]Matsuda has an older sister.[2] She grows a Monstera named "Yahosutera" (ヤホステラ)[19] and a Sansevieria trifasciata named "Sanpa Starfish" (サンパヒトデ).[20] She holds a Kanji Kentei level 2 certification.[21]
Discography
[edit]Matsuda has participated in all Hinatazaka46 title songs.[22] Other prominent appearances include:
