Description
English: Photograph of Guglielmo Marconi and associates raising the receiving antenna by kite at St. John's, Newfoundland in December, 1901 in preparation for his historic first transatlantic radio transmission 11 December 1901 from Poldhu, Cornwall, a distance of 2300 mi (3500 km). Appeared in the article "Marconi's Achievement" in the February, 1902 issue of McClure's Magazine.
