Title
Galerie des machines.
Les ponts roulants.
Description
This print represents the Galerie des machines, which was located behind the Eiffel Tower and the Palais des expositions diverses. The Galerie was about 400 meters long (about 440 yards). A system of moving bridges was devised to take visitors from one side of the building to the next. These bridges were powered with electricity. During the ten minutes it would take to go through the whole building, one could look at the exhibit from above ground. These bridges had also been used during the construction of the gallery to carry building materials.
