Accuracy issues with map

The map is based upon the modern Civil Parishes. Nearly all parishes have had alterations in the past 200 years. For instance, exclaves were commonplace in 1832 but have all but been eliminated in the present day. However these alterations do not necessarily prevent the hundreds being reconstructed. In some cases, these errors cumulatively add up to fundamental change in the map - eg Tavistock/Lifton

A few specific issues are noted below (and annotated on the map).

  1. Tavistock Hundred is shown as having an exclave in Lifton Hundred. The true situation was Lifton had an exclave in Tavistock.
  2. The modern parish of Newton and Noss (South Hams) essentially consists of the Ancient Parishes of Newton Ferrers (Ermington) and Revelstoke (Ermington). Its been roughly split into two.
  3. The modern parish of Halwell and Moreleigh (South Hams) essentially consists of the Ancient Parishes of Halwell (Coleridge) and Moreleigh (Stanborough). Its been roughly split into two.
  4. The modern parish of Newton Abbot (Teignbridge) consists of the Ancient Parishes of Highweek (Teignbridge) and Wolborough (Haytor). Its been roughly split into two, based on modern ward boundaries in Newton Abbot.
  5. The modern parish of Rewe (East Devon) was historically part of two hundreds (Hayridge and Wonford). As Rewe consists of two distinct sections, its been split these into the respective hundreds.
  6. The modern parish of Burlescombe (Mid Devon) was historically part of two hundreds (Bampton and Tiverton). Its been included in Bampton.
  7. The modern parish of Uplowman (Mid Devon) was historically part of two hundreds (Halberton and Tiverton). Its been included in Tiverton.
  8. The modern parish of Maker-with-Rame (Cornwall) was historically part of two counties Rame (Cornwall) and Maker (Roborough, Devon). Its been roughly split into two.
  9. The map shows the modern coastline and lakes. The modern reservoirs shouldn't be shown, and the coastline has have changed since. Two obvious examples are Plymouth Breakwater was recently built in 1832, but Brixham Breakwater was not built until later. There will be other changes relating to erosion/deposition along the coast too.
