Giane Chenheu (born 1996 or 1997), professionally known as Evilgiane, is an American music producer. He has worked with Kendrick Lamar, Baby Keem, ASAP Rocky, Playboi Carti, and Earl Sweatshirt.[1]
In 2018, he founded rap collective Surf Gang. Evilgiane uses Ableton to produce music.[2]
Early life
[edit]Giane Chenheu[1] was born 1996 or 1997[3] in Brooklyn, New York.[2][4] He grew up in Chinatown, New York.[1] His father was a producer and his mother was a songwriter.[1][5] Chenheu began making beats in his early teens, using FL Studio Mobile. Growing up, he listened to music produced by Timbaland and Static Major.[4]
Career
[edit]Evilgiane founded New York-based rap collective Surf Gang in 2018.[6] In 2023, he produced the single The Hillbillies by Kendrick Lamar and Baby Keem.[7] Later that year, Evilgiane received a production credit on Voir Dire by Earl Sweatshirt and the Alchemist. He produced the track "Making the Band (Danity Kane)" in collaboration with producer Clams Casino.[8][9]
In 2024, Evilgiane released his mixtape #HEAVENSGATE VOL. 1.[1][10] "40", a track from the mixtape which featured Nettspend and Xaviersobased,[1] was listed among the best songs of 2024 by The New York Times[11] and Pitchfork.[12]
